Day 2, Part 3 Which Includes Tingly Butts And A Free Dole Whip
We head out and over to Liberty Square and over to the Haunted Mansion. Another favorite. Can you tell that EVERYTHING is just my favorite? I warned you!!! While we were here, I remember thinking of Mel's (1000thHappyHaunt here on the DIS) fabulous trip reports, which I really miss!
We walked right through, no line! It's really funny how many people refuse to get up early.
There was a rose on Master Gracey's grave, which I found sweet and eerie at the same time, like a sad loved one had come and left it for him:
This will come up again - oooh foreshadowing!
We head over to Frontierland where I see Goofy and Donald in their Frontier Gear:
Again, I wish I had gone over for a picture!
We grabbed Fastpasses for Splash. There was a CM near the machine who excitedly said to me "Did I work with you at Typhoon Lagoon last year?!" I replied, "No - I've never worked for Disney, unfortunately!" He awkwardly replied, "OH! OKAY!" and walked away. So there was... that!
Next, we headed to Adventureland, where I couldn't find Pirates of the Caribbean FOR SOME REASON. Bizarre to say the least. I think it briefly got sucked into a time warp? Because that's the only explanation.
We find it and the Pirate Tutorial is going on. My mom has no idea what this is and has never seen it, so we stand and watch a minute. I'm just not into this, but the guy, obviously is hot so I enjoy the view for a bit. My mom remarks on how hot the guy is. I thought of that CM who got fired from Disneyland and then told all the stories about moms slipping their numbers/room keys into Jack Sparrow's pocket - LOL!
I searched for my room key but didn't have it on me. Oh well, next time.
I hate walking into things during the middle, and I was really anxious to get on POTC, so I kinda wanted to leave. We met the real Johnny Depp once before, so I whispered to my mom "We met the real thing, who needs this guy?" She laughed and we got on line for POTC.
This ended up being the longest wait of the entire trip (minus the MESS that is Fantasmic these days... stay tuned for that!) - probably about 30 minutes. I had no idea - I don't think i've ever waited longer than 10 for POTC. I usually never wait on more than a 15 minute line while at WDW. It's funny, the other day my friend mentioned that she really wants to go see Captain EO at Epcot (We're huge Michael Jackson fans). She added, "But not next month though, cause the lines will be ridiculous!" I simply laughed. Lines? Not for us DIS fanatics, am I right? It's crazy how many people just go to Disney World with no clue!
Mom hadn't seen POTC since the rehab, and she thought it was amazing, definitely improved!
I considered calling out to George the ghost, but it was our first day in the MK and I really didn't feel like getting stuck, so I refrained.
We checked out Jungle Cruise which I really wanted to ride, but the wait was too long. This is another ride I remember from age 4, and I hadn't been on in at least six years, but the wait is always too long and who wants to blow a fastpass on the JC when there are mountains to splash down and blast off from, ya know?
I had told my mom about Dole Whips many times but she had never had one and was really excited to try it, so we headed to Aloha Isle. I told her that they were big, and we should share one. She said no, she wanted her own, and I actually decided, that since i'm not even crazy about pineapple, that I was more in the mood for a rootbear float. I told her I'd eat some of her Dole Whip too whether she liked it or not! I guess Prince Charming calling me Princess the night before had gone to my head!
We decided to share both floats and so I headed up to Aloha Isle to order. The CM waiting on me, like many before her, had wished me a happy birthday since I was rockin' the Happy Birthday Lia pin. I said thank you. She was super sweet and really peppy and upbeat, the perfect girl to work at Disney. She said, "Which one of these is for you?" I replied, "The rootbear!" She said, "This one is free for you today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!"
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! She only charged us for one float! I thanked her profusely, and we went to go sit down and devour these delicious beauties:
So, IF YOU ARE CELEBRATING A BIRTHDAY, and you get a treat at Aloha Isle, it just may be your lucky day.
I remember talking about Swiss Family Robinson while we were sitting there because it's right across from Aloha Isle. This is probably my least favorite attraction at the MK. I mean, it's cool, but it just doesn't float my Dole Whip if you know what i'm saying. My mom said that it was HUGE during her generation and her and her brothers and sisters were obsessed with and fascinated by it.
Around this time our fastpasses became valid so we headed back over to Frontierland for Splash Mountain!
Beautiful flowers in Frontierland:
I took this picture in the line, which I had planned on. Thankfully there was barely anyone in the FP line so I was able to stop:
You can't run away from trouble. Ain't no place that far.
It's one of my favorite quotes of all time. I actually think that the story told in Splash Mountain is really deep, when you really pay attention or listen to the ride track, which is when I fully got it. Ah, Disney. Always something right under the surface. IT'S THE DETAILS!! I'm tellin' ya!
There's just nothing like that feeling when you SPLASH down on SPLASH MOUNTAIN!! Nothing!! You feel it in your BUTT!! Or at least I do. BIG TIME. It's better every time.
With tingly butts we started heading out of the park to catch a bus to our lunch reservation at Disney's Hollywood Studios. YUM!!! MGM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bye for now, MK! See ya real soon!
Up next: Our amazing lunch at one of our FAVORITE PLACES EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
