Which Vegas Cirque show?

Hi!

DH and I are headed to Vegas the first week of August and want to see a Cirque show. We have seen La Nouba at WDW and loved it. I'm ruling out LOVE, Criss Angel, and Viva Elvis as ones that would not really be to our tastes, but can't decide between the rest. Anyone have a favorite?

I have seen Mystere and Ka out there.

Mystere is... probably the most bizarre of all the cirques I have seen >.< I mean it was still good, all Cirque's are good, but of all the ones I have seen (Alegria, Saltimbanco, La Nouba, Quidam, Varekai, Mystere, and Ka) it's hands down my LEAST favorite.

Ka on the other hand was a technical WONDER! It's really different then any other Cirque in that it's much more plot driven then any others and really doesn't focus as much on the individual cirque arts. But the tech on that show is MIND BLOWING! The stage is just wow cus there is no actual stage. Set that flies in and out, rotate, and change angles.

I have not seen O, but I have heard it's pretty outstanding as well. It was dark when I was there last time so I missed out on that sadly. I want to see that and Love the next time I go out to Vegas.

So really, I would recommend either Ka or O

We have seen Mystere, "O" and the other one that was real sexual, can't remember the name, it was I think in Luxor or one of those hotels right around there. That one was terrible!! People were walking out, even with the topless ladies here and there and all. It was so bad, I can't even remember the name. "O" was ok, it was good. But I think it all depends on where you sit, we had great viewing seats, but we could also see everything that was going on when they went into the water that was more behind the scenes type thing. It was good though. Our favorite and top pick favorite show in vegas has been Mystere, and we've seen alot of shows in vegas over the years. We thought it was awesome, so that'd be my first choice. I have heard Ka was good and we want to see that one next.

"O" was amazing. Sit about 2/3 of the way up in the theater, and you will have the best view of everything. I saw Mystere also, and even though it was good, I went back to see "O" a second time the next year that I went. Have not seen the third one mentioned, but Mrs. Carl and I are going for our 20th in 2 years, and "O" is the show I am planning to take her to.

Thanks, everyone! I have been trying to read up more about each one, and I think I am leaning toward "O"; the water seems like an interesting element to add into the mix. Jury's still out though.

Zumanity at New York, New York. Yeah.... I don't even count that one in the same breath as the other Cirque's.

Another vote for O from me - was fantastic. And I believe still not on DVD so live is the only chance to see it?

I've also seen Quidam here in NZ, but missed Alegria although I have seen it on DVD.

I wanna say that none of the Vegas shows have recordings MINUS Ka but that's a weird case cus it was filmed for DVDs in Europe or something. I have seen the footage on youtube with some performer interviews and it's dubbed over in German.

My fav Cirque show in Vegas is Mystere but my DH's is O. They are both wonderful shows though!

I prefer the clowns in O, they were in Alegria and they are very funny guys. The water aspect makes it amazing to watch. The music is hauntingly beautiful. I have sat all over the theater and had many great views. There are only a few obstructed view seats in the balocnies.
Mystere is more traditional in the Cirque world and has a lot of classic acts. The Laurador(sp) brothers are hot and amazingly strong. The costumes are colorful and vibrant. Of course Mystere has the only man I've ever told that I loved, with my husband in the room:lmao: Brian Dewhurst. He asked my DH if he knew about my love for him. DH just laughed and had to say that Yes he fullly knew Mr Dewhurst was my other true love! He is kind of the Mc of the show. He is the most amazing older gentleman I have ever known!

I'm sure I could keep rambling on, sorry.

Enjoy your trip!

Please re-think LOVE - it is my favorite Cirque show and I have seen it 5 times. The music, the dancing, the artists, costumes, sets - it makes a complete experience you have to see to believe. It isn't the same show twice; I catch something I haven't seen before every time I go. I have family coming in next week they wanted to see LOVE! I can't wait to go for the 6th time next Thursday. :teeth:

Wish I could, but my DH *hates* the Beatles. He is in IT and a few years back when the dean of the school he worked for retired, he had to put together the "farewell" Powerpoint at the direction of several other big-wigs. Well, the entire soundtrack of this hour-long presentation was nothing but music from the dean's favorite band...you guessed it.

He spent like two months, as he puts it, "listening to the same ten-second clip of 'Here Comes the Sun' over and OVER again", as he tinkered with the editing until everyone watching over his shoulder was finally happy with the end product.

He likes Cirque, but would so not be able to enjoy LOVE! Poor guy.

Not sure of any of them, but booked KA, as some of the others did not seem to be suitable for Children, or maybe its just me.
I got the tickets with the $55 offer.

I've seen "O" and LOVED it.. I have a friend who has seen nearly all of them and really liked KA but liked La Reve much more. My DH and I are going in Oct and seeing La Reve and Jersey Boys...
PS..if I recall La Reve is not 'official' Cirque, but was made by a guy who branched off from Cirque.

Here is a vote for KA! As another poster stated the "stage" is incredible! Amazing what they can do with it. I would love to see O next, I'm hoping I'll be able to make another trip to Vegas soon!

We have only seen Le Reve, which is not a Circque show but I guess the Wynn's version of one. We loved it. I guess O is a water show, and so is Le Reve.

DH and I have seen O and Ka. I gave my 3 kids the option of seeing one of these a few weeks ago and DS10 and DS8 chose Ka after watching some Youtube clips. I loved them both, but my favorite is O. They were both incredible really. I am now torn between Mystere and Love for our next Las Vegas trip.

I was in LV in December with a friend and saw 'Ka' and then dh and I were there in March for our anniversary and we saw 'O'. I work in theatre and had several friends who were involved in the installation of the rigging for 'Ka' so I was really excited to see it and I wasn't disappointed at all. It was technically amazing. I thought it was much better than 'O', but I really enjoyed both.

i just came back from vegas on monday and we saw mystere on sunday. it was very good, the performers are incredible. we have seen three cirque productions in vegas and to be quite honest, i dont really remember what o was about, as that was probably at least five years ago lol. we saw love last year and it is AMAZING, the music really makes the show. its a shame your husband doesnt like the beatles because i would totally recommend it. but really, in the world of cirque du soleil, i really dont think you can go wrong.
