Which is a good and reliable company to insure a 2008 Dodge challenger with? What auto insurance coverage should I consider for this car?

I would encourage you to get 3-4 quotes from companies and go with the one you like best.

I think it's a really good idea to carry significant liability coverage, as well as uninsured motorist coverage (which will compensate you for personal injuries suffered if an uninsured driver causes the accident) and underinsured motorist coverage (which will compensate you for personal injuries beyond the liability coverage limits of a driver who causes the accident). UM/UIM coverage is relatively inexpensive and can be a big help. You'd be surprised how many people are driving around with the bare minimum coverage, or even no coverage at all.

If you took out a loan to buy your vehicle and you still owe on that loan, your loan agreement probably requires you to carry collision coverage, so you'll want to double-check that, too.

Be careful about asking for "full coverage." In many states "full coverage" does not really mean full coverage. For example, in my state if you ask for "full coverage" they have to give you uninsured motorist coverage, but they do not have to give you underinsured motorist coverage. You have to specifically ask for underinsured motorist coverage to get it.

We've had Progressive for about 10 years. They are the cheapest with my teens and they have awesome customer service!!

We had a bad wreck head on in 2003 and they called me every day to see if we needed medicine, a ride to the doctor, just anything.

Last month, we were hit and run at lunch. I called Progressive right away and they had my car picked up the next day. I got it back less than two weeks later--and it has a warranty on the work. The other driver turned herself later the day of the wreck (long story short, but if you're going to the police station to confess, take your drugs OUT of your pocket! :rotfl2:) Her insurance company, State Farm, called me the day after I got my car back and wanted to know what I wanted them to do about fixing my car since it was their responsibility. I told them to call Progressive because they were so on top of their game that I already had my car back. :rolleyes1

State Farm Insurance :thumbsup2 They are the #1 auto insurer in the country for a reason;)

I second Progressive! They have the best Customer Service and if they have concierge claim service in your area it is SOOOO worth it. We pay a few hundred more per year for two cars than we would with State Farm, but it is worth EVERY PENNY! So much easier to deal with and MUCH better service. :thumbsup2

State Farm, what a rip off! I was with them since I was 16yrs old, and my husband was with them since we got married in 2004. We both have perfect driving records, (no tickets, accidents...anything!) and we were paying about $195/month for 2 vehicles with $1000 deductibles. Our rates would go up about every 2-3months. They'd send us a letter in the mail saying that "vehicle 1's classification changed" or someting along those lines.

We shopped around, but because we don't have pristine credit, everywhere else quoted us about the same.

We finally found Erie Insurance, and an awesome agent. Both cars now run us $114/month and that is with BETTER coverage & lower deductibles (Now $250). Nothing in our lives has changed, we're both over 25...still perfect driving records.

We are so happy with them!

Amica and USAA are the top rated insurance companies in the US. If you can get USAA, I'd do that. If not, try Amica.

Get at least 3 quotes. We were shocked at how much difference there was between companies!

We had Allstate for 22 years (home owners and auto), we made one small claim (under $1500 for electrical repair) after our house was hit by lighting. They promptly paid the claim, then told us they no longer wanted our service after 22 year of paying premimums!

We went to an Independant Insurance agent who shops around for the best deal for us. We've been with him for several years. Our rates went up by $300 with one company last summer, so he shopped around and found another company with much better rates.

Yup. I have been with Amica for auto and homeowners for 32 years.
They are not the cheapest, but I feel they are the best.

We can't get the USAA

If you are a member of AAA go through them. They have all the top names in the business and you can get MUCH better prices. You will get several quotes and you can chose which company you want to go with.We saved over $100 a MONTH by going through AAA.

usaa just opened up eligibility..
if you EVER served in the military and a few other agencies.. u can get it.

even if you did 4 years and got out.

try again

u are enjoying intro rates..
most insurance companies dont do their underwriting til the renewal.
u stated you had a claim with allstate
so when the agent gets the quote the insurance company doesnt take into consideration the claim. because they dont know about it. and even if you tell them they dont input it into the system. 1... because they know it will be seen at the renewal. 2....makes the company look cheaper and they the commission from the sale.

independent reps are in the same boat. if the rep cant get u the cheapest rate. u might shop around.

keep in mind that the agent gets commission every year the policy renews. not just the year its written

Really? My husband used to be with the DEA and they never mentioned this. A friend of mine is with the secret service (protecting our president right now). I'll have to ask him about this.

I have them too over 14 yrs & very happy...to the OP its such a hard question though it depends on so much, drivers record, home owner or not, license history, used for pleasure, used for school, used for work, avg yearly mileage, parked on road, off, garaged, the list goes on ad nauseam, sometimes in this day ^ age some companies run a credit check...its a tough call not a one size fits all answer ( and some of us know what one size fits all really means :sad2:) FWIW I haven't had an increase in years...I take the safety/defensive driving class every 3 years that helps

its not them u have to ask. they might not know they can get it. :)
they did when i worked there...
they dont advertise that other govt agencys are eligable .. i think its cuz noone can answer why one agency is acceptable but another is not.

Progressive raised my insurance again, every year. It was up to $114 for one car with me, no wrecks, no claims.
3 weeks ago I changed to Geico for $79 a month, same coverage. Progressive continued to inch up. Seems I cancelled 3 weeks too early and owe Progressive a $60 fee as I did not do out the 6 months. (I was on the montyly plan and I was paid up but guess I miss calculated and had one more month to pay).

Today I get a very rude collection call regarding Progressive. 3 weeks and they have sent me to a collection agency. This woman was downright rude. I told her I hadn't even gotten a paycheck yet as I get paid monthly. She told me that insurance companies can raise your rates during those 6 months but you cannot get out of it even if it's month to month payments. She told me that by getting this 6 month committment, I was getting a low rate. I told her 114 was not a low rate, I now had Geico for 79. She told me she was calling Geico to tell them I refused to pay the balance and when Geico found out, they'd raise my rates. I called my Geico agent today and he said, nope--he's the one that called Progressive for me to cancel so he's aware of it all. I never refused, just had to wait until payday. I've had Progressive for about 12 years and they were good on the two claims my ex had but 3 weeks and ship me out to collections already? Learn from me and my $$ mistakes--if you are on a monthly payment plan renewable every 6 months, don't change insurances until your 6 month is up.
