An Aussie's Journey. Our final meal before coming home (food porn)....the last post!

Phew...I feel like I just did trip around the world! :upsidedow
Loving it! :cool1:

Looks like you did have a great time.
I actually do like RnR now. Not that I ever 'didn't' but it is just it's proximity to TOT meant when we came off....I'd end up going back into the hotel. Rather than past the guitar!
Last time I went on a few times though. I love soundtrack!
But twice in a row for a rollercoaster (with the exception of Space mountain in DL) is never a good idea. :lmao::lmao:

I'm actually better at TSM than BLSRS but this is partly because I need an arm replacement after going on TSM :rolleyes1 Those rings go flyin'! :rotfl:

As for food reviews...Kouzzina...yeah...your comprehensive review just confirmed why I never want to go there.
But then you evil evil person...
Chefs De france Creme Brulee.....:love::love::love:
Sigh...oh the memories :cloud9:

It's lucky your DS got to see the Power Rangers as they are no longer at Disney. :woohoo:

As for Lotso....I get the feeling not many kids like him now they have seen the movie
It doesn't come out here till thurs so I won't see it before the weekend and DON'T want to know any more...but....yeah. Interesting choice for a meet and greet.
Oh....but doesn't he remind you of the Toyworld bear!!!

Creme Brulee YUMYUMYUM........Yes you did call me
42.gif
Yes you did call me

You are a good friend !

:goodvibes

Your dinner looks delicious and is making me hungry!! Loved the Pandoras you picked up. I can't wait to get some of my own when I go over.

Reading your TR is making me so excited for mine. Might pop over and read your PTR while I wait for the next installment!!

Make sure you do the research for the Pandora charms. There were some items that had about $10 difference; and others that were over $150. The gold/diamond charms were the ones that had a bigger differential.

Except for the steak, Kouzzina wasn't that bad.

Yes, that Creme Brulee. I was salivating just looking at the photos myself! :rotfl:

You're absolutely right! Lotso does look like the Toyworld bear.

Unfortunately, he's a little on the pooh: -size side. So, I have to watch what he eats.

Thankfully the boys inherited their father's metabolism and not mine, so I can be a little more lenient when it comes to what they eat.

I've never had a desire to eat at Chef's, but that creme brulee might just be enough to get me in there - yum!

I did luck this time with the Princess! I can't believe it! I don't know much about Tinker Bell so I never went to where she was hiding out. But I'm so happy I got a chance to see all of them. Well except for Tiana but maybe when we go to DL in a month I'll see her there. Or maybe it'll be all the princes??? Haha.

Would you believe that we ordered the same things you guys got. Only I got what your DH got and you got what my DH got. It was great we've eaten there both times we went. I think next time we'll go to Canada though. Whenever next time is.

How 'jinx'! I hope you enjoyed what 'my' he ate as much as I enjoyed what 'your' he had!

And if the above doesn't make sense, that's okay....I keep reading it and it doesn't make sense to me either :lmao:.

After indulging in both DH and DS Crème Brulees, I rushed off to Hurricane Hanna’s Grill by the SAB pool. I had signed up for another planned DisMeet!

As with the Cinco de Mayo meet, I was delighted to have hooked in with another crowd of May-ers that planned a DisMeet at 8 pm on the 11th of May for Cocktails at SAB.
I had already enjoyed my Margarita in Mexico, so I was really looking forward meeting and greeting more drinks!

And the rest I had gotten during the morning resulted in me feeling a bit more energetic. My thanks to TinkerbellinLouisiann for organizing the meet (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2404795).

I was also eager to make this DisMeet because I had planned to catch up with LuvChefMic as well; who I had met on the Boards in one of the DisBoard sub-forums. She lives 30 minutes away from the World; and despite this obvious black mark against her, I think we’ve formed a pretty good friendship.

As per the Cinco meet, I pitched up about 30 minutes late and the party had already kicked off.

I swiped this picture off the DisMeet thread. TinkerbellinLouisiann came prepared with Lime Green and Sharpie.

DisMeet.jpg

The CMs at SAB were most indulgent of us that night and one particular CM cheerfully snapped our pictures from at least 6 different cameras. As there are a number of versions of this picture in the DisMeet thread, I am sure that no one will protest too much for my version to appear in this TR. So, here are the faces to go with the screen name signatures in the Mickey Ears.

We might be 2 days away from my birthday; but this particular crowd came with presents! The presents had been arranged whilst we were planning the DisMeet so that we could ‘trade’ and have a momento to keep.

Tink brought these from Mardi Gras! She had a whole stack of them and in different colours. I politely took these two at the start of the night – but something else caught my eye; which I snaffled later…at the end of the night.

USA2010shopping014.jpg

She also brought us a Louisianna cookbook – I think her husband got these!

USA2010shopping005.jpg

Mrs Outrbanks made these! They are very cute.

USA2010shopping006.jpg

Next time I go to Disney, I’ll be taking this along with me and wearing it!

I believe that LuvChefMic was the only one who knew that I would be celebrating my birthday at the World – so she pitched up with a proper birthday present and card!

USA2010shopping092-1.jpg

These are now hanging in my kitchen and bring a smile to my face every morning.

If anyone who attended the DisMeet that night is reading this, my thanks for the bounty! I love everything that was traded and freely given that night :lovestruc.

And in case you were wondering, here’s what caught my eye!

I went through a little bit of internal debate as to whether to post this up or not; but in the end, the larrikin Aussie in me won out! I'm not sure if it is too saucy to put up on the DisBoard; and if it is, I'm sure some Moderator will either let me know or edit this text (happy to comply and take these pictures down).

For anyone that was there at the end of that night, I hope you remember the conversation that was going on when I took this item :littleangel:. For anyone else that wasn’t there, I’m not telling!

In my PTR, I had expected that the DisMeets would be some of the highlights of my trip. Both DisMeets *way* exceeded my expectations. It is such a pleasure to be able to meet someone and put real people’s faces and personalities with their screen names and persona!

It was so much fun to meet our fellow Dissers but the highlight of the night for me was meeting you and your precious family, I look forward to the next time you are in my area of the world again so that you can come over and have a proper Italian meal (veg of course for your DH) you will love my lasagne ! Ruthie

What a fun meet, sounds (and looks) like you guys had a blast!

As much fun as the Cinco meet :thumbsup2. Only, I didn't have the headache that I had at the Cinco meet.

I keep learning more and more about your personality and sense of humour! ;)

definitely a 'you had to be there...' but .... I have a wonderful imagination of all sorts of possible scenarios!

Sounds like you had fun which is really wonderful!!

At the end of every Disney holiday, I always tell myself that next time we will take things more leisurely and not do the next one commando style. Every single time to date, I’ve failed miserably at following my own advice!

By our normal standards, this trip to date has been carried out in an ‘enforced‘ leisurely pace by the fact that I had picked up a cold and was unable to run around as tour director.

But today, I woke up feeling more like my normal self. Plus, we only had 2 more days in Orlando (today and tomorrow) before we were to start our trip home.

We had a quick family discussion in the morning and we individually put together a wish list of things we wanted to do again. To our surprise, DH, DS and I had about a 70% match of items. Not so surprising, our matched items were in 4 different parks! We also knew that in order to cross as many items off our list, catching up with the extended family was not going to be possible today.

Our list included:
  • Soarin'
  • Test Track
  • Kim Possible - all the other countries except France and Japan
  • Space Mountain
  • Splash Mountain
  • Big Thunder Mountain
  • Kali Water Rapids
  • Everest Expedition
  • It's Tough to Be a Bug
  • Toy Story Mania
  • Fantasmic!

Our EpCot items

We quickly headed out across the Epcot Chunnel.

USA2010Holiday685.jpg

And stopped to admire one more Epcot Flower and Garden display.

USA2010Holiday684.jpg

We might have missed park opening and rope drop; but not by much. The really astonishing thing was that the park seemed a lot less busy today than at any other time we had been this trip.

USA2010Holiday687.jpg

I took that to be a good sign for the rest of the day. We would need a near perfect day in order to achieve our hit list.

At Epcot, the boys wanted to do Test Track; again! But I was the only one who wanted to do Soarin’.

So, for the first part of our day, we split up. I left the boys to their dummy run whilst I went off to catch a swing ride over California. I had a 10 minute stand-by wait! When I came out, the stand-by was out to 20 minutes and I decided to jump on again.
I love Soarin' - there is just no other ride like it and my favourite part is hitting the snow at the top of the ski run! As I normally take my shoes off before we depart, my toes always seem to end up with a little bit of frostbite.

I still have no idea what the boys did after their ride and there is no photographic evidence; but me – I took the opportunity to stop by Imagination! I had not previously visited this pavilion before and was curious to meet Figment. I enjoyed the Journey and then took a quick stroll through the ImageWorks play area and it looked like a lot of fun! Next time - the boys will have to come with me to play!

On my list of things to do, was to visit the pavilions between Mexico and Germany; and do some shopping. I’d gotten as far as Italy on this trip so far. On DS list of things to do, was to complete all the other Kim Possible missions in the various countries that he hadn’t done.

I still had a bit of time to kill before WS opened, so I did some shopping around the Showcase Plaza and waited for the boys.

:scared1::scared1: NEVER MET FIGMENT!!!
Does not compute...system failure....blasphemy...

I have been obsessed with Figment for (good lord I shouldn't have added this up) 20 years...in fact we are almost a year apart in age
I actually MET him a few years back.
And while without the dreamfinder and the original attraction he isn't his same self...I still love figment :love::love:

I love Figment too! I liked his other rides better, but at least as long as he still has one...

I also like to take my shoes off for Soarin', my favorite part is to dip them in the water over Redwood Creek, but I don't like to ride it in Epcot. The queue is so drab and boring and after flying home to Disneyland to get off the ride and be 3000 miles from home! :scared1: It's just not right!

Maybe I'll try it again sometime, but for now I'm content to ride Soarin' at home, besides we don't ridiculous wait times like 140 minutes! :lmao:

You guys really pack a lot in! Looking forward to hearing how you actually get to all four parks in one day!

Yup. A definite "had to be there" moment.

(Where's that identity cop?
mgcop.gif
)

That's quite a list, can't wait to see how many of those things you get to mark off!

Part 2 - coming up! I was almost daunted by it when I put it together; but then I realised that we didn't have to do everything!

Saving the World – one country at a time!

After I met the boys, we headed to the Norway Team Possible Recruitment center. We picked up the Kimmunicator and made a beeline for Germany.

DH loves the details of these models. Nothing for me to worry about here!

USA2010Holiday699.jpg

Someday, when he’s older, I might worry about DS and the blonde models. But for now, nothing for me to worry about here either!

USA2010Holiday700.jpg

The Kimmunicator triggers off the most amazing ‘hidden Disneys’.

USA2010Holiday704.jpg

One mission down and it’s already snack time!

USA2010Holiday705.jpg

And DS never wastes an opportunity to play on some drums. I had to remind him about Saving the World!

USA2010Holiday695.jpg

Time to check out the China Syndrome!

USA2010Holiday707.jpg

Mysterious ‘hidden Disneys’ miraculously appeared everytime we hit the buttons on the Kimmunicator.

USA2010Holiday708.jpg

USA2010Holiday709.jpg

DH and I shared a green tea slushie from China! If I’m ever back there, I’m getting myself another one just for myself!

Mexico was next on the list…and I hoped that we wouldn't run into any Drug Lords.

USA2010Holiday721.jpg

Push another button and yet another ‘hidden Disney’ erupts!

USA2010Holiday723.jpg

And I love that the Kim Possible missions bring life and light into the most innocuous of displays everywhere! Even those that seem to be there for the theming aspects!

USA2010Holiday726.jpg

The numbers formed a code that when entered into the Kimmunicator, allowed us to proceed with the mission.

A most illuminating activity to do at Epcot and we saved the world in Mexico as well.

USA2010Holiday717.jpg

I’ll be the first to acknowledge that Saving the World is a most worthwhile endeavour – but we were all starving by this point.

The Cantina de San Angel might be closed; but there was a kiosk outside of the pavilion serving food.

DS got the nachos supreme.

P5130230.jpg

DH decided on the standard nachos (I have no idea why!).

P5130232.jpg

This was definitely the pick of the 3 meals! The Cheese Quesadilla was really delicious.

P5130231.jpg

Recharged, we pressed on with Saving the World.

Kim Possible seems to be everywhere - even in England (James Bond must be elsewhere on another mission)! Would you believe that we got a golf ball out of the change box?

USA2010Holiday727.jpg

Which we put in here for the next set of instructions…

USA2010Holiday729.jpg

Believe it or not, the toy soldier actually talks! Listen carefully or the world will end!

USA2010Holiday730.jpg

For those eagle-eyed readers, you may notice that I am wearing my birthday pin. It was past 1 pm by this stage and it was probably my birthday in Australia....so I figured I could legitimately wear the pin .

And we found that even butterfly wings carry ‘hidden Disneys’.

USA2010Holiday734.jpg

All our Kim Possible missions were completed and it was time to say goodbye to the Kimmunicator. I don’t know if anyone posts real letters or postcards using this mailbox – but it’s real function is as a cell phone recycling box.

USA2010Holiday741.jpg

DH just loves being the thorn amongst the roses! So, I took this picture to keep him happy.

USA2010Holiday733.jpg

And we ran into more familiar friends in England.

USA2010Holiday740.jpg

I found this picture in our collection and I’ve posted it for a fellow Aussie to look at. I might be a “cruel, cruel woman”…but as I don’t have any R&C food porn, I don’t think I can be accused (this time).

USA2010Holiday732.jpg

For anyone who hasn’t done the Kim Possible thing at Epcot, do yourself a favour. It doesn’t matter if you have kids or not. A whole world of seemingly static window displays comes alive with that Kimmunicator and it helps you see the countries in a whole new different way. It is well worth the effort and in our travels this day, we came across numerous adults who were doing the missions without kids!

It was way past 2 pm by this stage and we still had 3 parks to go.....we were going to need a heap of Disney pixiedust: to get through our list!

[Up next - only 2 hours to spend at Magic Kingdom]

Well don't come to AZ! We seem to be having a ton of problems with them here!

Wow I am so going to do the Kim Possible missions next time! I thought it was going to be cheesy but maybe not so much and besides I go on the hunt for characters so it can't be all bad right??
