2010 Armed Forces Salute

I picked up my Military Salute tickets today!

But, I think my base undercharged me! I didn't do the math while there (the total price did sound about right).

The tickets are supposed to be $99 base +$25/option

I got four tickets with both water fun hopping. It was $147 each, for $588 total, and it seems it should have been $149 each, for $596 total :confused3

I'm not one to complain about saving $8, as long as I won't have problems!

Also, I read earlier on the thread that the vouchers you get at the base don't say what type of ticket they are. What I got says, "4-Day Disney's Armed Forces Salute w/ Park Hopper and FUN" I assume "FUN" means Water Park and More option? So, did they change it, are these my actual tickets? (it does say I need to activate them prior to use) Or, will I get paper character tickets in exchange?

Last year, the same people were allowed to buy them, but only for the people in their party...names had to be associated with them (no more than one ticket per person) and the parties IDs had to be shown with the ticket when they were activated.....and the sponsor had to be there too (whether it be the wife, the servicemember, whoever was allowed to purchase) They wouldn't sell two tickets under one person's name. Let's say GI Joe purchased five tickets...one for Mama, one for little sis, one for little brother, one for Baby Joe, and one for wife. Mama, little sis, little brother, wife, and Baby Joe had to show their ids and activate their tickets with GI Joe. We were going to buy a friend one last year, but my husband had to be with her to activate it, and it just wasn't possible.

I apologize if I misinterpreted...what I meant by extra tickets was more than one ticket per person. I guess we could have gotten two 5-day tickets each for our honeymoon, and then two more five-day passes for when we went to Food & Wine later in the year. Just wouldn't seem right.

:

Your post doesn't have the right information. We were there 3 times last year and between DH and I we use all our 6 tickets. Yes we have to show our Id's to activate the tickets but you were allowed to use more than one ticket per person. You still need valid Id's to activate the tickets. I just don't see how it wouldn't seem right?

The "Fun" visits means you have the WPF&M option on the tickets. You have to go, with your ID, to any Park ticket window or Guest Relations Office to activate them. Since it will just be activation, you will have the same cards as your tickets once activated.

We always go to POR, either Riverside or French Quarter. FQ this time. We like the tranquil grounds, 2 different food courts, many pools and, the best feature, the boat to Downtown Disney. This resort really has it all!

I have stayed at Shades of Green. The rooms are Huge and the resort is top notch! But at my husband's rank, it is better to use the 40% off Disney rooms discount. And I like being in the Disney transportation loop.

We also love SOG but like you it was cheaper to stay at POR with the 40% than SOG this past trip because of my husband's rank. The problem is now we are hooked on POR for all the same reasons and I am sure the 40% military discount will not be there next year! :)
I am very grateful for the discounts Disney offered and completely understand why they cannot offer them every year I just wish there was a way that if you booked a room with at WDW resort you could still add the dinning plan and not have to buy their tickets to do so kind of like how AP people are able to do it because we save a about 200 for four the four of us going through SOG.

More price wierdness

I was looking at the brochure they gave me with the tickets:

It says 4 day base: $97
4 day hopper: $121 ($24 more)
4 day water: $121 ($24 more)
4 day hopper and water: $147 ($50 more, though you'd think it'd be $48)

Anyone else find it strange that this MWR office charges less?

A friend got her's cheaper also. I'm not going to complain.

have 2 questions please...
1. we have 3 days left on our Military salute tickets, they do not have the hop option can we add it on when we go back? If so does anyone know how much per ticket it will cost?
2. I'm hoping I'm calculating correctly, when you look online and put your dates in for a resort, is the price that they show us the rack rate? And when I call for a ressie the 40% off per night will apply to that? Also though DH is the sponser can I make the ressies over the phone..he will be with us to show his ID when we check in!?
Thanks for any help!:)

If you are qualified military, you can do that. I am doing it. I have booked a 40% military discount room at POFQ and added dining. Told them I was getting tickets at SoG. You cannot get the free dining offer.

I think they do this just to confuse people! :lmao: We're going in December and the promotion will be over by then! So will the room discounts! We went in May and November last year and used the deals then! the free ticket was really nice!

Not sure the answer to question 1. Cheshire Figment would know. If you could do it, it would be $25 each ticket (+tax if buying through Disney). It would be based on the full ticket, not how many days are left.

Online price is the rack rate. 40% applies to that. Prices do not include tax. If you are the spouse of the sponsor, you can make the reservations, sponsor does not have to. You can buy the Military tickets without sponsor being there. You can activate the Military tickets without sponsor being there. You can even check-in to a Disney resort using the 40% Military discount without sponsor being there for the trip.

Disney told me wrong last time, and I lost out on using the Military resort discount. Some Disney folks don't know all there is to Military discounts, that is why I was given wrong info last time. But I learned my lesson: ALWAYS ask for a second opinion, or even a third, if you believe you are right. princess:

Oh I was able to do just that this year but I meant for future trips when there is no military 40% discount.

They arre your actual tickets, but aren't good until they're activated at WDW. Some bases charge less for the tickets--it's up to them to charge what they want, I guess. :confused3 Strange, but not all bad, right?

1--IDK the answer to that, but as long as you're going before they stop selling them, then I would think you're ok. Price should be $25 + tax.
2--yes, make sure you're quoting prices for room only and no other add-ons like tickets, etc. You do have to call to book, though. You can make ressies and even check in without him(as long as you have an id stating "spouse" for the check-in)

The selling of the tickets is supposed to stop on August 31. However, the tickets may be activated and/or upgraded through September 30. The cost for the Hopping option and for the WPF&M option is $25 (plus tax) per option.

Note that all tickets will die at 11:59:59pm on September 30 and cannot be used after that date (unless Disney decides to change policy again).

I thought they will stop selling tickets Jul 31st? Edit: Sorry I got confused with making room res. You are right.

Originally sales were to stop on July 31. Within the last month there has been an official announcement that sales will continue through August 31.
