Goofy Proposes, Fi Falls for Sleeping Beauty & we Celebrate our Engagement NEW 6/18!

I just found your trip report today. It looks like you had a great time. We were there December 31-Jan 10th. I couldn't believe how cold it was. We all bought new sweatshirts, hats and gloves. It looks like we were at the same parks most days too. On January 3rd, we got to open the Magic Kingdom and I noticed in your pics of the MK the cast member that lead us through the opening was walking by. Small world!

Aww, you've finished! I'm sorry the report is over- it's been a fun trip to follow along with!

I guess you should have gotten a set of mugs for all your readers, too! :rotfl:
Add me to the list of people that want them.

Sad to head home, but I'm glad you had a good trip(minus the cold and rain). Your pics sooo make me want to go to WDW over the holidays sometime! The castle is just beautiful! That last pic of empty Main St. and the castle, wonderful. It made me miss WDW so bad!

All done :sad1: oh I hate when a good TR comes to the end. Can't wait to hear your final thoughts. Great souvie purchases. We don't buy them either. Frankly, we go so often that it seems kinda silly. But I did get myself a little something this time ;)

I LOVED this TR!! Thanks for sharing with us, and I absolutely cannot wait for your final thoughts/possible future trip!

LOVE everything you bought!!! Especially your mugs--too cute for words :goodvibes I am so sad to see your trip come to an end...BUT...I am hoping your surprise is a TRIP

Thanks, Katie! :goodvibes I think, while our souvenir loot was pretty small, it was all great stuff! I'm sad the trip is ending too (it's kind of like going through the end of a trip twice!) :sad1: But there are definitely some exciting things to look forward to!

Wow! It is definitely a small world! How neat that you were there during the same time - sorry you had to deal with the cold weather too! Wasn't it crazy?! We should have been smart like you and bought some new clothes to keep us warm! Instead we just kind of suffered through it :sad2: Oh well, you live and you learn!

You got some great souvenirs! Love the Mr. and Mrs. mugs :thumbsup2

Thanks! :goodvibes

I definitely recommend Disney during the holidays - everything was just absolutely beautiful! I'm hoping to get back at some point before Christmas to really get to experience everything, but even going after New Year's was great - it was a wonderful way to drag out Christmas as long as possible! :goodvibes

I know, it is kind of sad isn't it? It's like I'm having to get over my trip ending for the second time! :sad1: Oooh, I can't wait to see your souvenir reveal! :yay:

FINAL THOUGHTS

So the time has come, I suppose. Before I get into my final thoughts about the trip I want to take a moment to say how much I appreciate all of you who read along – whether you commented or just lurked – I loved being able to share my memories with you all.

I know I mentioned this in my first post, but I really did lurk for a long time before finally deciding to join. I was a little apprehensive to write a report because I figured, being a newbie and all, that no one would follow along. But I am so happy that I did join and did write the report because it has given me the opportunity to “meet” all of you, and to have a wonderful collection of memories.

Ok, enough mushy stuff… On to the final thoughts!

Overall, I don’t think I could have asked for a better way to celebrate what is one of the most magical moments in a girl’s life (getting engaged). If anyone were to ask me if I would recommend Disney as a place to celebrate anything, I would absolutely say yes! From the amazing room upgrade, to the congratulatory cards, the special tables at restaurants, and even just the basic “congratulations” from CMs, Miguel and I both felt so special during our trip. It was absolutely magical, in every possible way!

As for AKL, I really can’t say anything negative about this resort. It is just beautiful. The theeming, the design…wow! You truly do feel like you’re in a different world. And the ability to be thisclose to all of those amazing animals is an incredible experience.

I hear that being upgraded from a standard view to a savannah view at AKL is the most common upgrade in Disney – and I see why. They hook you the first time around! If we were to return to AKL, it would be really, really difficult not to stay savannah view – I think it is so worth it!

With that said, I’m not sure if we will return to AKL. As absolutely beautiful as it is, it just didn’t have that “feel” for me. You all know the feel I’m talking about right? I think it’s because, in all of my trips to Disney (minus one many years back at WL) I’ve always stayed moderate – mostly at POFQ. To me, French Quarter will always feel the most Disney to me, I think because that’s where I have so many memories from my childhood. It’s like my Disney home.

Don’t get me wrong though, I do love Deluxe! And there are so many more Deluxe resorts I want to try out – so who knows where our next trip will lead us. Oh, and I would absolutely recommend AKL – without a doubt! We really did love it.

I’ve visited Disney during many different times of the year – April (crowded! Or at least it was when I was a kid and we went for spring break), August (miserably hot!), March (great time! Low crowds and great weather) and of course, the recent January.

Hmmm…January was interesting. I think we just got lucky – or should I say unlucky – with the record low temps.

While it didn’t affect us that much, towards the end of the trip we were really over being out in the cold all day. Thankfully, this kind of weather is rare in Florida. Crowds were great, though! A max wait time of 30 minutes, and that was only on like 2 rides, is not bad at all! I believe we will probably return for our annual trip in March, though. I’m a little nervous to attempt January again for a while!

This was also our first trip to try the DDP. I was very apprehensive in the past to add it onto our packages because I thought it was unnecessary and probably would not save us any money. Boy was I wrong! I’ve decided the DDP is most definitely necessary, if for nothing else than the convenience. I loved being able to simply whip out my KTTW card to pay for meals – especially at CS places. It also did save us money. How much, I’m not sure because I got lazy with totaling up receipts! I will say though, I believe I totaled through Thursday afternoon and we were about $100 from the cost of the plan at that point. So we still had Thursday evening and all day Friday and Saturday (including CRT) that I did not total, so I know we ended up saving quite a bit. When we checked out, we only had two snack credits remaining, so we did a good job of using up our credits!

Some of my favorite moments of the trip:
~ Our Savannah View upgrade!
~ Walking into MK on the first day to see all of the decorations still up!
~ Our amazing breakfast at Akershush, and the wonderful conversations with all of the princesses!

~ Our Congrats card at Le Cellier!
~ Finally touring WS – even if it was just briefly.
~Goofy’s proposal!

~The whole delicious meal at Ohana and getting a window seat.
~Seeing wishes and illuminations on the same night.
~Walking hand in hand around an empty WS – so romantic!
~Test Track at night!
~An amazing Spectro viewing and the cute little girl who brought me back to my childhood

~Snuggling up (in the cold) watching wishes in front of the castle.
~Another window seat at CRT! And a (surprisingly) great meal there
~Strolling, hand in hand down an almost-empty main street, and that final, magical glimpse of the castle
