After settling into the BCV and having taken it easy for the day, I was ready to head out to MK and enjoy the Mother’s Day celebration with the extended family. The Wishes Dessert Party was something that I had looked forward when planning this trip.

The phone rings and it’s my DB. He explained that his son wasn’t well, his daughter was sleepy, our parents were really tired and he wasn’t feeling like going out to the theme park today. So, he wanted me to cancel WDP and re-schedule for tomorrow night.

Can you hear the sound of my hand smacking my forehead?
Can you hear me silently screaming?
Are you all feeling what I’m feeling?

I’m guessing (and hoping) that the answers are yes, yes and yes! :scared1:

AAAAAARGH#@@#$%!$&!!%*!!!! I am still in need of therapy….. :headache:

I had to explain that this was THE ONE event in all the events that I had arranged for the family where everything was pre-paid for beforehand. I said that we wouldn’t be able to change the booking for tomorrow as this event was sold out. I also did the good sister thing and said that I understood and to not worry about it. If the family wasn’t feeling well, I didn’t want to force them to come and have a bad time. It was better that they should stay home and not come out.

DB was silent for about a minute and then said that he would talk with the family and put the phone down.

DH and I looked at each other. Here’s a summary of our options that we discussed. Because this is the DisBoard, I’ve edited the language somewhat:
1. The 3 of us were definitely going. We were NOT missing out.
2. We would head to MK and go to Guest Relations to see if we could change the reservation from 8 adults and 1 child to 2 adults and 1 child; and get a refund. The 3 of us were definitely going.
3. We were going to find a computer and see if there were any Dis-ers at the Park on-line to come and join us. The 3 of us were definitely going.
4. We were going to stand outside the Terrace and sell the extra seats. The 3 of us were definitely going.
5. We were going to stand outside the Terrace and offer the seats for free. The 3 of us were definitely going.
6. We were going to kill my extended family in a way that we wouldn’t be caught. The 3 of us were definitely going.
7. We were going to kill my extended family and get off due to the circumstances. The 3 of us were definitely going.
8. The 3 of us were DEFINITELY going.

We started out of the room when the phone rings again (it’s taken all of 3 minutes). It’s my DB. The extended family had a chat and they didn’t want me to take a hit on this and they were getting ready to come.

In the quiet spaces in your mind, where sometimes dark and desperate thoughts live, I’m think I was thinking….”but I don’t want you to come”.

In the practical spaces in your mind, where sunlight and rational thoughts live, I was concerned that they were going to do something that they didn’t want to do and I didn’t want them to get sicker. But, it would appear that the extended family was indeed heading out to MK and the original plan was still in play.

So, we arranged to meet here.

Turns out that my nephew was sick (and he was sick before the WDP) …everyone else was just tired.

There was still about 2 hours to go before the event and the kids wanted to go do some rides in Tomorrowland. DH and I were starving so we went off looking for food whilst the rest of the family and DS headed off. We still had a couple of CS credits left to use up before midnight.

We ended up eating in Cosmic Rays as this was the closest CS. I ordered half a roast chicken and BBQ ribs meal; DH ordered the vegetarian burger. We both got the Carrot Cake for dessert. We were so hungry that we ate the entire meal before we remembered about food porn. The CS at Cosmic Rays was surprisingly good! The Carrot Cake is reputed to be fantastic; but for me, it wasn’t as good as it was written up to be.

After dinner and with a bit of time left (and after making a slight detour to pick up 3 Peter Pan fastpasses), we headed to Mickey’s Philharmagic. I just love MP! It was one of the highlights for me 5 years ago and it was fantastic to experience it again. I came out in a much better mood and frame of mind. (Thanks for letting me vent! and I did say I was still in need of therapy :sick:)

And then it was time to catch up with the family and head towards the Tomorrowland Terrace.

Baseball has had me so busy that I missed 3 updates!!

Love your description and pictures of the BC, I think it has just moved to the top of my resort list. I really want to stay there!

Despite the rocky start, I believe that everyone was now looking forward to this event. Whilst we were having our separation time away from the family, my nephew had indeed thrown up and was now feeling a bit better. Everyone else was still tired.

We lined up and were shown to our table.

Any good real estate agent will advise to check out the home at night. It will always look different!

We were amazed at how much the house changed every 30 seconds or so and started to wonder how we would deal with this much change every night.

We also thought it would be a good idea if we took a shot of us with our future home by night.

But nothing can divert me away from food for too long. It was then time to focus back on the real reason for why we were there.

On the menu was:

Pistachio Creme Brulee, Mango Shooter, Key Lime Tart, Fruit

For me I loved the Crème Brulee; Key Lime Tart was good and I didn’t care for the Mango Shooter.

Cheesecake (I think), Cannoli, Raspberry Tart, Pastries

For me, the Cheesecake was so-so, the Cannoli and the Raspberry Tart was okay. Pastries were nice,

Kiwi Orange Tart, Chocolate Truffle, Chocolate-Chip Cookie, Chocolate Dipped Strawberry

For me, I loved everything on this plate!

I’m sure that there were other selections (I remember eating them) but we didn’t capture it on camera.
Beverages included coffee, tea, hot chocolate, lemonade, raspberry lemonade, water and milk.

And then it was time for the fireworks. There was plenty of space on the balcony for everyone at the Dessert Party.

An expectant hush came over the park…and the first bang went off. I don’t know about you, but I keep looking for Darth Vader in this picture.

If you are after the quintessential fireworks view with the castle straight on, then this isn’t the spot for you.

I think this was when I first realized that this might not be the home for me…I’m not sure I could live with the pall of smoke that seems to hang around at this time of day.

My dreams of homeownership are pretty much over. I don’t think I could stand watching my house go off with a bang like this every night. Much too noisy for me!

In the end, we all had a great time at the Dessert Party. And it is one of the experiences the family fondly talks about now that we are home.

There is a lot of debate on the DisBoard about whether the Dessert Party offers value for money and about whether the Tomorrowland Terrace is a good or bad spot to view the fireworks. For me, this event is first and foremost about food; specifically – Dessert!
I love eating dessert and thought that a dessert buffet would be right up my alley….it is!
I also had a reason to celebrate (Mother’s Day) and I thought that the event would be a good way to celebrate and to treat my mother and the rest of the family….it was!

Yummi Yummi Yum-oooo So just a few questions,what's the cost pp and what time did they let you in, how long were you there and was the desserts etc all you could eat & was it out the whole time? Okay guess that was more than a few questions :) I personally wouldn't let the noise or smoke keep you out of your dream home..I might be leery of the mote though, alligators & such :scared1:

Let me know how the recipe turns out in Canada! And if I make it back to WDW in October, I'll let you know....if you want the pancake moulds, I'll get them and send them to you :thumbsup2. Now all I need to do is work out if I'm going....:confused:

If I recall our PTR plans correctly, I think you were checking out of BCV on the day that we checked in. We were checking in on the 9th of May....

I found someone selling it for $9.95, plus $4 shipping to Canada. (As I recall, it was about $9 in the Parks anyway, so I don't think I could have gotten it much cheaper!)

And you are right! We had talked about our stays at the BCV before we left. We checked out on May 8, so we didn't overlap at all. We just warmed the place up for you!:laughing:

I am glad you took the stroll over to the AB section before you left so you no longer felt bad about being in the Mansions.:)

Isn't the BC nice???? I had stayed at the Yacht Club in 2008 during a legal conference...right then and there I knew I had to return.

I loved the YC when I was there, but definitely enjoyed the Beach Club more. I much prefer the decor in the lobby and styling of the rooms.

Can't wait to hear about the rest of your stay there!

I can't believe your bad luck with your family wanting to pull out of the Dessert Party. :headache: However it sounds like at least with your nephew there was a good reason for it. At least it all worked out, and hopefully he was able to enjoy himself after his sickness passed before the party.

Sounds like the dessert party was a success after all! Looking at your pictures has me fondly remembering that creme brulee - it was soooo good!

Anyway...I love the photos and the review...it is the most 'infomative' (and drool causing) review I've seen.
I ADORE Dessert...and could easily have had more than my share from the offerings...but...
I've become an Illuminations girl and would rather eat at the Rose and Crown with a view of Illuminations than the Wishes Dessert Party...

As for BCV...I'm so glad you loved it. It is a really beautiful resort that is for sure. :goodvibes:
We spent a night there and I would recommend it to people, but it wasn't my favourite resort...which I will admit surprised me a little. I rank it higher than Boardwalk (which again surprised me) but I fell in love with BLT and OKW....and AKV.

I would have been talking through clenched teeth :faint: Of all the things to cancel on....:headache: I had contemplated doing this also but I didn't.....know I wish I did!! :sad2: Personally I think it is a great view....I watch it from wherever I happen to be and never stake out a place far ahead of time...although I would most likely do that for MNSSHP....I missed a lot of seeing the castle when I saw those fireworks.
October really is a wonderful time of the year to visit you know :goodvibes

I think it was about $22.95 or $23.95 for an adult, which includes tax and tip. The terrace opened at 8 pm; or an hour before the fireworks start time. When you book, you are allocated an arrival time - we got 8.10 pm; but we were queuing up at about 7.50pm with EVERYONE else, who also ignored the staggered arrival time. They opened at 8 on the dot and we were seated within 5 minutes. The desserts were all you can eat and the CM kept refreshing the selection.

I personally hit the buffet table about 3 or 4 times between 8 and 8.45 pm. A couple of my favourite selections might have been "empty" when I got there; but the CM would come out and refresh it before I left the buffet table.

When the fireworks were over, there was still *some* desserts left on the buffet, but I guess they must stop refreshing it at around 9 pm.

So where do they do the dessert party? That might be something fun to try for us when we finally get back there again....

The do the dessert party at the Tomorrowland Terrace Noodle Station. It was a lot of fun for us.

WDW also do something similar at Epcot for Illuminations. But I think the dessert party at Epcot is only for Grand Gatherings.

We loved BCV. We actually just wanted to relax at the resort around the pool more than being at the parks..:rolleyes1

In the end, all 9 of us went. My poor nephew threw up as we were waiting in line (thankfully the restrooms are just right there); but he was fine afterwards.

Yes, I started a "might not be returning" PTR last night for October....still thinking about whether I add a "not going" ticker :rotfl:. I'm still not keen to fly all the way to the US for only 3 days; but I'll have to wait for DH to sort things out with his work before making a decision.
Having said that, it would be nice to go to the Food and Wine festival; and see if I can catch MNSSHP. How are your plans going for October?
