New $97 Iphone 3GS at Wal-mart (Best Buy price matches!)

We have been wanting to switch over to Iphones for quite awhile. Stopped by Wal-mart today to see if they had any of the $97 new Iphone 3GS in stock and they said that the entire area is sold out. Checked online and they are sold out there as well.

DH just went to Best Buy with the Wal-mart online ad printed out and they matched the price!

Now hoping that AT&T has decent service where we are moving. We have heard mixed reviews but the map looks good online so we will see.

Time to find some of those cool Disney apps to download.

I would love to move to either of those areas but we are headed to fabulous Fort Benning, GA - not much of a major metropolis. DH was there last week and had great coverage on both his AT&T work Blackberry and his Verizon personal phone.

Darn Army is right. We wanted to get back to Orlando so badly but were given a choice of several posts in the middle of nowhere or Benning. Sigh... 5 years until retirement!!

Hooray! DH had printed out the Wal-mart ad to take in but Best Buy knew about the price and matched it with no question. Good luck! Also just FYI, you can't purchase any type of insurance on the Iphone thru AT&T but you can purchase insurance through Best Buy. We bought our MacBook at Best Buy for that reason - they matched the Apple educators discount on that too.

I just checked the terms of their price match guarantee, all set to argue with them, and it clearly states they will not match prices on out of stock items. Oh well. Wow. Not sure how far away you are from our store in Northern MD but we actually went back today and switched over DH's phone as well and they honored the price again with no questions asked.

Thanks for the message Clarabelle. That's a bit too far to go for a phone but I appreciate the info. We may try going to the store in person (probably a different location, not the one I called) and see what happens, but we'll probably just wait until the official price drop which should be soon.

I think it depends on the store and their attitude. I have a Best Buy about 20mins away that will go way out of their way to make me happy, including finding the best price online and printing it out for me to take up to the register. I have another one 5mins away and they will only stick strictly to the guidelines and will try to talk you out of things when it comes to the better deal. Guess which I shop at?

We are at Benning now..for 2 weeks and then we are PCS'ing...the Iphone works here...alot of people have them. They are hit or miss. I haven't gotten one cause I won't give up my Verizon reception! It works everywhere!!! AT&T with the Iphone...again is hit or miss. I talk to several different friends and it is like they are going through tunnels, just hangs up on us...but everyone who has one "loves" it...not sure if it they just love the phone (which I soo want) or what....it will work here, you just might have a few issues!

Good Luck with your move! This is our 2nd time here and thanks but no thanks, we won't be back! haha We have been here for 4 years and are sooo ready to leave! You still have to go to Atlanta to find good stuff!! The schools...oh boy...there is a reason lots of people homeschool!

The location is great though! 4 Hours to Destin...which we love and only 6 hours to Disney! Which we love...and only 1 1/2 hours to Atlanta! It isn't bad, but 4 years is enough!

We are surprising the kids with a Disney trip before we leave! We are hitting up SWW...they are going to be soo excited...they are watching Star Wars as I type!

There is a big difference from the North to the South! I am from Delaware and moving here was quite a shock! I LOVE the weather (meaning no snow and very minimal cold weather) but thats about it! The summer is crazy hot! ANd it lasts well into October! We have Halloween parties every year and it is crazy hot during the day...it will cool off quite a bit at night..but man do you sweat in the day!! I usually wear my flip flops year round with only about 1 week or 2 or regular shoes. We did have a colder winter this year, but then again everyone did! Wait till you see how they respond down here when it "snows"...oh boy are you in for a treat! haha

We're VERY close to Delaware. I grew up in SC so know the weather well down there. I am dreading the hot summers and the BUGS - especially the palmetto bugs/roaches, fleas and mosquitos! I swear there are hardly any bugs up here.

Some how I stumbled upon this thread, but I'm so glad I did! I hope I can give you a little encouragement about moving to this area. I am in the Columbus/Ft. Benning area although not military. We moved here almost 10 years ago and I have got to say that the place has changed so much in that time! I'm not sure if you have to live on post, but if you need names of good schools, I can help you with that. PM me if you need info on the town.
