Our dinner at the Wave

This was voted best meal of our trip by our group of nine. We have dined here once before.

Pros:
Great service
Great bread and butter
Higher quality cuts of meat (lamb shank and beef tenderloin were standouts)
Loved the Avocado and Citrus Salad
Loved my Sustainable Fish - with edamame stew served with cilantro chutney don't remember what fish it was...
Great pot pie as per my 17 year old son
Great French press coffee
Great smoothies

Cons:
The desserts are just not that great. I would skip them and have dessert elsewhere. We also felt this way last time about the desserts. It would have been wiser to order a custom cake here (which we did do last time on top of the included desserts) and enjoyed that with our coffee for less money.

Out of our eight meals at WDW this was the only place that acknowledged our 25th wedding anniversary (other that the place we paid for a custom cake so that doesn't count) We were given some desserts to share.

Did you try the sugar free dessert trio? It was SOOOOO good when we were there in April! My DH is diabetic so it was his natural choice, but I decided to try it also and it was really good. IMHO

Yes, we ordered three of those at our table. We liked the sugar-free options the best--but still feel the desserts at the wave don't compare to other table service restaurants. Again, we loved our meal--we just think dessert is the weak point at the Wave.

I am happy to read a good review! We will be dining at The Wave for the first time in a couple of weeks. Friends are joining us for dinner and a custom cake to celebrate DS's acceptance to the Arts Magnet high school, followed by a Wishes cruise. I want it to be FABULOUS! :goodvibes

How fun! As I said before, I think the Wave is the PERFECT place to have a cake for dessert since I don't think their dessert offerings are "all that". Enjoy your cruise! We went on an Illuminations cruise years ago.

Enjoying this --and the other-- reviews!

Thanks, Uncle! I wanted to thank you for talking me into (not directly but by influence) into going with the TIW card vs. the DDP. WE LOVED IT! There is just sooo much more freedom in what to order! Even our custom cakes received the TIW discount. Do you know what the worst part about an AP and TIW card would be? They burn a hole in your pocket...already toying with a return visit for around the May 12 time frame next year before they expire.;)

I had asked for advice on signature dining for DH and me to get away by ourselves. We ended up canceling Citricos and Yachtsman. My step-dad ended up having some health complications while we were there which made us decide to stick with the group. Truthfully, because of the heat and our exhaustion level with hitting the parks so hard--food wasn't nearly as important to us this trip. After months of looking forward to all the dining, icy beverages and a swimming pool were more appealing than food!

We had lunch here Thursday and LOVED it. DH and I are vegetarian and the vegetarian Cuban is delicious! Our server was super sweet and gave just the right amount of attention to us. Can't wait to eat here again!

we went there in January and BY FAR... BEST MEAL OF THE TRIP!!!! I cant stop thinking about it. Maybe because we didnt expect anything but I liked it more than Narcoosees and Cali Grill!! I LOVE the idea of the cruise after and you know what... I think we may just have to do this. We are going with a big group and its their last night and a special bday so a cruise after would be awesome!!

I just have to say that The Wave is now our favorite WDW restaurant. We just ate there for the 2nd time, and unlike many other WDW restaurants, the 2nd time did not disappoint (we had a horrid 2nd experience at Le Cellier and will never go back).
The lamb shank is to die for, the other adults at our table had the steak and loved it. One kids pizza was demolished and our son with dairy allergy was thrilled with his spaghetti.
We actually loved dessert as well.
Service was wonderful.
We will definitely be back!
Only problem was that it was first TS meal of the trip and nothing compared for the rest of the trip!
