SOOZE Return of the Band Geeks! What's Next Update! p.25 10/10

I love the Oliver pictures! Musicals are so much fun! It looks like you had a great day at DHS. I haven't been on TSM yet.:scared1: I am determined to ride it in June. Any tips on getting a high score?

Hey V! Here is the link to the new PoTD thread.
Thank you! :thumbsup2
And who had the cover-the-ears pose? You, Leo, or Gramma!??
:rotfl: Totally Leo!

Just wanted to share with you why I've been so absent!! Wrapping up another community theatre production. This time, Oliver!
You guys look great! :thumbsup2

I never really noticed how beautiful this view is! I'm always walking AWAY from it!
Oh my gosh - I have NEVER before seen that, for the same reason! :rotfl2:

The movie was fine... I think it's in need of updating, though. Anyone agree?:confused3
YES!!! :sad2:

We had put it off long enough, but it was time for that God-forsaken Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground.
Wanna know a secret? We've never been there! Really - I think Leo's aware of its existence, but I've never offered to take him and he's never asked, and now he's older, so maybe we're in the clear?! :rotfl:

We had crammed a whole bunch into our DHS morning.. it was time for another family first... Lunch at SCI FI!!
Ooo, I can't wait to hear about this! popcorn::

Sooze:

It looks like you had a great start at DHS. Did you end up auditioning for American Idol?

Where are the cars at DHS? For some reason, we always miss them.

It is so great that you and your son could be in a play together. I bet it was lots of fun and a great experience to enjoy together.

Can't wait to read more!

Erika

It is great about Oliver I enjoyed the pictures.

DHS really looks empty, I agree it is fun just to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere.
Since it was our first day there, I don't think we appreciated the LACK of crowds that morning as we should have. We wouldn't experience that again for the rest of the trip!!:crowded:

I sure hope you get to it in June! You gotta get those fast passes early! I would NOT recommend waiting in stand-by... it is the LONGEST wait ever!! There are some videos on youtube about how to unlock secret bonus points.. but you have to work together with the person in your car, and you have to practice a lot! My hint... as FAST as you can go... GO! Your arm will be hurtin' at the end!

:rotfl: Totally Leo!
Ah... I figured!

You guys look great! :thumbsup2
Thanks so much!

Oh my gosh - I have NEVER before seen that, for the same reason! :rotfl2:
See?! As we've both said before.. no matter how many times you go.. there are ALWAYS new things to see!

Wanna know a secret? We've never been there! Really - I think Leo's aware of its existence, but I've never offered to take him and he's never asked, and now he's older, so maybe we're in the clear?! :rotfl:
You are a smart, sneaky, lucky lady!!! I wish I would've met you earlier, so you could've warned me!

I didn't audition for Idol until the very end of the trip, which turned out to be a big mistake... you might hear about that update in August... the rate I'm going with this TR!!

The Cars are near the Streets of America... near Lights, Motor, Action.

Doing the show with Ty has been great... the rehearsals have been unorganized and frustrating! But now that the show is open, we are SO glad we stuck it out! We're having a great time!

We sure had crammed a lot into our morning. It was time for lunch... unfortunately, our reservations weren't until 12:20 and it was only 11:30. We headed over anyway to see if we could check in early. I stopped on the way to pose in front of my FAVORITE TV series...
IMG_0652.jpg

((sigh)) I still had many episodes to look forward to at that time... and now... now it's over...

Sorry... I was having a moment.

We got to the check in counter, and there was already a big line of people trying to check in. Most of them without ADRs:sad2: Really? Even if you are a rookie at Disney World, isn't that one of the first things you find out? Make ADRs people!!
P1050756.jpg

We heard the CMs continuously say that they are booked solid, and that they can't even let people check in early. :headache: Well, darn. Guess what? I did anyway! I let them know I had already over heard, but we'd like to check in early anyway. But the CMs weren't buying it. They told us we'd have to wait. Oh well... I tried!

So we headed back outside ready to just chill out, enjoy the sun, and wait for them to call us in. The kids were having a great time playing together, and the weather was just absolutely perfect... so we really didn't mind waiting.

Here are some shots of them goofing around:

Some vintage signage for your viewing pleasure:

And here I am, soaking up those UV rays:

We had only been waiting a few minutes, when a CM came out to us. She explained that they had two 'back seats' available and that they could seat us now if we didn't mind sitting in the back. :confused3 Why not?! We went right on in and hitch-hiked our way into some other folks' back seats! We were HUNGRY and ready to experience Sci Fi!

I absolutely LOVED how this restaurant was set up. When you first walk in, it is SO strange.... it's just the check-in podium in front of a huge plywood wall. If I didn't know any better, I would've turned around and walked out, thinking it wasn't the best of establishments! But then, they lead you around the wall to the other side.... it's FABULOUS! You really feel like you are outside in a drive in theater!!

They sat us in our back seats, which were adjacent to each other. It was totally fine, and we were happy to be getting some grub!

Matt and Tyson getting serious about the movies on screen:
P1050772.jpg

Shae and I having a little more fun:
P1050773.jpg

I ended up ordering some kind of club sandwich, while Shae had pizza. My kids ate more pizza on this trip than any child should ever be allowed.

Food porn:

P1050777.jpg

The food was good.. nothing spectacular.. but this restaurant isn't about spectacular food, it's about a unique atmosphere. The kids just LOVED watching those silly movie clips (especially Tom and Jerry) and Matt and I loved the theming. We will definitely add Sci Fi to our list of restaurants to visit again!

We took a leisurely walk back to our home, which helped settle our food, and definitely put us in the mood for a nap! After relaxing at home, taking some fabulous Disney naps, and checking our Facebooks , we were ready to eat... AGAIN! We had early ressies at O'Hana... and we were finally meeting up with our friends for the OFFICIAL kick-off to the Band Geek Week!!!!

p.s. Oliver is over and so is school! If you're still hanging out and reading my TR, the updates should be coming much quicker now!!!:thumbsup2

Hey Susie!! Great update today!! your favorite show is LOST??? Cool!! I actually met some of the actors before...not sure which ones because I don't watch the show :sad2: I think it's the older bald one???? and matthew fox??? ANYWAY, so sorry your fave show is over!! Great pics from Sci Fi. Your kids are sooo cute!!! Well, can't wait for more updates!!

The Sci-Fi restaurant is one of my favorites for lunch. I love their milkshakes. Seeing your pictures make me wish it was in our plans on our next trip, but we decided to try several new places in June and could not fit it in. Maybe we could go just for dessert.

Hi there Keala! Just wanted you to know that I found your TR today... sorry I got so behind. Now that school is out for the summer, I'll be able to catch up!!

Ok... if you really met Matthew Fox.... I am SOOOOO jealous of you! Of course... you live in Hawaii, and the chances of running into those actors would be pretty high, I guess. Wow! Did you get any pictures?! I'm in post-LOST depression right now... can't believe it's over. I feel the same way I did when I read the last Harry Potter book!! Silly, I know!

Thanks for your comments!

Can you believe... we did NOT get milkshakes! What were we THINKING!? I guess we'll just have to go back soon...

It's always great to try new places. I'm sure Sci Fi will be there for a long time. You'll get back! I wonder... would they sell you a milkshake to go?:confused3

Hi Sooze! So glad you posted about your TR on facebook!!! I'm all on board and up to date! :thumbsup2

Looks like you had a great start to your trip! I can't believe you got in to your room at 9am! So jealous!!!! I hope to have some of that pixie dust in July when Brian and I head down for our next trip.

Looking forward to the next update!

p.s. Loved the show pics!

I am glad you enjoyed Sci Fi. We will be eating there again soon. I love the atmosphere. It is a bummer that Lost is over. I always hate it when shows I watch end. Have you watched Glee? That is my must see show right now.

Sooze:

:yay::yay: You updated! I am so glad. It looks like you had a great time at DHS that morning.

:thumbsup2So glad you were able to get seated for lunch early. Sci Fi looks nice. We have yet to try but it is on our lists for the future.

Did I read right that you are out of school? Yay for you!!! Jeremy doesn't get out until next Friday although he took the last test today. They have all kinds of fun events from now until the last day.

I am looking forward to your post on O'hanas. We will be eating there for dinner this trip and I am soooo looking forward to it.

Erika

Great morning at DHS. You were able to get so much done!!!!!:thumbsup2

Lost my FAVORITE show of all time. I have never cried soooo much EVER. I mean ugly sobbing snot filled crying...it was sooo good and sooo sad......

You're here just in time! I'm out of school and can actually update more consistently! YAY! I sure hope you and Brian share some pixie dust, too... I'm sure you will!

The LOST finale was made even more devastating when I had to watch the 24 series finale the very next night!!:sad1: Matt and I have been watching both of those shows from the very beginning...

I AM a Gleek, of course!! That's a fun show, and touching, too... but nothing has replaced the on-the-edge-of-your-seat drama of Lost and 24! FlashForward came close, but I heard they're canceling that show :(

Sooze:

:yay::yay: YAY! You're still here waiting for my updates! Thanks for hanging around for me!

Yes, I am OUT of school!! We start pretty darn early (August 10 this next year!) but it's all worth it at the end of the year, for sure!

Post on O'Hanas... coming up! Have you eaten there before?

Great morning at DHS. You were able to get so much done!!!!!:thumbsup2

Lost my FAVORITE show of all time. I have never cried soooo much EVER. I mean ugly sobbing snot filled crying...it was sooo good and sooo sad......

We did get a lot accomplished that morning... the crowds were coming, tho... boy were they ever!

LOST... ((sigh)), I'm still in depression. I can't believe how emotional that finale made me, too. I'm glad someone else was crying with me! Thanks for checking in, Jordan! I know you have a million TRs that you are following!

The big night was here. The night our two families had been dreaming about for months. The night when two band geeky families converge upon the Polynesian Resort to stuff themselves silly and bask in the glow of Disney euphoria. It was O'Hana night!!

We drove over to the Contemporary to park for the night and hopped on a monorail for transit to the Poly. The kids were so excited to see our friends and eat in our favorite restaurant:
P1050779.jpg

We met up with Dean, Abby, and Adrianna in the lobby. They had spent the day at Magic Kingdom, which is their traditional first-stop. The kids were so glad to see each other!
P1050780.jpg

We had to wait almost 20 minutes, which was fine. I took the kids over to the gift shop for some window-shopping. Soon, we were being taken to our table, which was the same one we had last year! Cool...

The food started coming, fast and furious. They brought the dipping sauces out before anything, and I just couldn't control myself:
P1050781.jpg

I think I might be up for taking a bath in that peanut sauce... it is SOOOOOOO delicious!! I mean, really... just imagine:
IMG_0655.jpg

Once we all had our drinks and appetizers, we did a toast to the trip:
P1050782.jpg

I just smile thinking about this meal... we were still at the beginning of a fabulous FULL week, we were with great friends, we were all just so HAPPY!! (As you can tell from the above picture!)

Tyson and Abby were being so silly the whole time... but not obnoxious. I think they were just so thrilled to have a friend to talk to and be goofy with. Here is Tyson being funny with the HOT towels they brought to the table.
P1050783.jpg

These towels were great for two reasons. #1... they felt good and warm and they cleaned the sauce off of your face after eating these:
IMG_0654.jpg

#2 They kept Shaelyn completely entertained for the whole meal. When she wasn't eating, she was FOLDING and REFOLDING these little towels. :thumbsup2
P1050792.jpg

The big kids reluctantly took part in the dance around the restaurant:
P1050786.jpg

Then the food started pouring onto the table:
P1050787.jpg

HEAVEN ON A PLATE!!!

Shae got mac n cheese. I can't complain... at least it wasn't pizza!
P1050789.jpg

This is one restaurant where Tyson goes all out and eats the adult food. For some reason, he just loves it. And I was glad he was taking a break from pizza. Goodness knows he was going to have TONS of it during the next 7 days.:sad2:

Dean and Adrianna getting a load of carnivorish goodness:
P1050790.jpg

Matt's turn:
P1050791.jpg

You can see cousin Cathy in the pictures. She was fabulous! She kept the Diet Cokes flowing and catered to all of the kids very well!

With our bellies brimming... we saw the dessert heading our way. MAKE ROOM!! You can't NOT eat this stuff:
P1050793.jpg

If you've never eaten here, this is a bread pudding with carmel and bananas on top with ice cream.... drooling.... it is so good!

Of course, the kids shared something more bland:
P1050794.jpg

Before we knew it, the meal had come to an end. I really don't like that moment.... when you forget to appreciate the magic you just had, and, instead, focus on the fact that it's over. We quickly turned the situation around, though, by getting ourselves on the monorail and heading over to the Magic Kingdom together! Time for more laughs and magic!!

Sooze:

I am sitting at my desk drooling over your pictures! I can't wait for dinner at O'hana's. In response to a prior post, yes, we have ate at O'hana's for breakfast but not dinner. It looks sooooo good! We have breakfast and dinner booked this trip. :thumbsup2

Your daughter is toooo cute. :cutie: I loved  the pictures of her and the towels.

So nice you get to enjoy the World with friends. I can't wait to hear all about your evening at the Magic Kingdom.

I am glad you are out of school. I had been missing your updates!

::yes:: My first time at Sci Fi goes down in the Disney annals as one of the coolest experiences ever!

You worded that very kindly! ;) :rotfl:

Tyson and Abby were being so silly the whole time... but not obnoxious. I think they were just so thrilled to have a friend to talk to and be goofy with.
Isn't it great? :goodvibes

... at least it wasn't pizza!
:lmao: Every Disney parent's mantra, right?!

Susie? You're torturing me with the bread pudding! ;)

hey susie! Great pics of Ohana...that food looks delish right about now!!

Yup, I believe it was matthew fox. I work at a hotel and he stayed with us a couple times. Nope...didn't get any pictures. I get a little shy when it comes to celebrities! LOL! Can't wait for more!!

Mmmmmmm..... the bread pudding.... so. good.

We won't be heading to Ohana on our July trip, but I'll be hitting it on my Girls-Only Trip in October!

Yum! Ohana is one of our favorites! We are eating there on our next trip. The start of the trip is always exciting.:goodvibes Are you done with school yet? I still have 4 student days and 1 teacher day left. I can't wait for Disney!
