Hello, My name is Dina. I think some of you may follow me over here from my PTR. I've been planning this trip ever since we came back from our trip last year. Last year was just awful! It rained every single day of our trip except for the day we took off back to Tucson! So in order to make up for that trip I told my DH that we would make a second trip to make up for it. This trip was DH's second time to the WDW resort the first time being last year during our rainy day event!
So a little background! Disney (Like many people) holds a very special place in our hearts. DH and I both service in the USAF. We met while we were stationed in Japan. After a whirl wind of 6 months of getting to know each other and dating DH popped the question to me at the Tokyo Disney Land Resort. On Splash Mountain. Yes, Yes it was before the drop! But it was just awesome and made what Disney is for us today! We love it so much we can't share the wealth with others! We tried to go with my SIL and BIL but it was not the same and we'd rather just go by ourselves. When we came back to the states we had a AP to DL. We used it for every penny we spent and then decided not to go to DL every holiday! Ha! So I planned a trip to WDW since DH had even been there and my goal was to hit every Disney Park in the world. So far we have been to three of the five. We were going to go to the one in Hong Kong but DH was worried that we might not be able to buy a house if we used money to go before we left Japan. But someday if we ever end up in Japan again that's the very first thing we are doing!
So here I am in front of the Disney Dream Suite. I'm 26 years old no kids yet. There is talks and plans. And I'm the Disney lover!!
Here is DH he is also 26 and is going away for 6 months because of the job. Not a Deployment but training for work. It's going to be a very long 6 months. This is DH at Innovations I think....I can't remember...
So in a way we are trying to get a lot of trips out of the way before he leaves. Like this one and then we have to go to San Diego to see his parents before he leaves. And his Father is getting married so we are going to Las Vegas for that. So I wanted a special trip besides my birthday before he left me for so long. We don't really have that much money so thankfully the San Diego trip and the Vegas trip besides gas are free! DL will cost us some money but not that much since I found a hotel that is at a pretty good price and has free parking and is right across the street from DL! But I am getting off topic here check out that PTR in my sig!
So, to begin the trip now! Yay!
So I packed our suitcase a couple of days before the trip. Mainly because I know my DH and he is a last minute packer. So I went right ahead and took care of everything. The night before we dropped off our dog Drizzt. We love this dog! He is a baby for the moment! We were having a huge dilemma about what to do with him weather to put him in a kennel or put him in a Pet Hotel. We went and looked at a Kennel and it was just awful! We couldn't stomach putting him in there surrounded by urine and noisy dogs and being outside. So we said heck no! And took him to PetsMart which has a PetsHotel! It was great! We paid a little bit more like $25 a day to put him in there but he got three walks a day which he doesn't get at home and three play times with other dogs every other day. So some days he was getting out of his kennel six times a day! So now we are always going to use that service when we can't take him with us!
Drizzt is named after a character in the Forgotten Realms series just in case there are any R.A. Salvatore fans out there! He is a German Sheppard Mix 2 years out.
So the following morning we get up at 4 am. Which was a mistake! We should have gotten up at 3:30 am! I don't know what I was thinking! I mean we live 30 minutes from the airport. So one hour to get the car packed and drive to the airport was not enough! DH and I had a spat because our plane took off at 6 am and he was moving at about the pace of a snail. it was 5:10 am before we left the house. Thankfully we didn't forget anything. We hopped on the I-10 and drove as quickly as we could without breaking the law. We got to the garage where we were going to leave our car of the week and had about 20 minutes to spare before I plane took off. They were boarding by the time we got there. We didn't have any breakfast and nothing to drink. We were really pushing it and American Airlines doesn't has out snacks for free anymore!
I was happy once we were in the air. Here we are getting ready to take off. That's not my hair naturally. I got it flat ironed for the trip but you'll see later that that was a complete waste of money this trip!
We were some where over the mid west in this picture. Our connection was in Chicago. WHY?!?!?! I have no idea! How silly seeing how we live in Tucson why would we fly all the way up there and then to Orlando? I have no idea it was just dumb and took almost three hours to get there!
We land in Chicago and we are both staring. So we try to find our gate and then once we find it we go on the hunt for food. We get really expensive Wolfgang Puck Express which isn't even that great! I didn't like it at all and didn't even finish my salad. Once we are done we head back to the gate and grab some Starbucks. I'm not ashamed to admit I love that place!
DH got coffee and I got a Chai Latte. About an hour before our plan takes off I ask DH to check what seat numbers we have because we didn't get seats assigned to us when we got our boarding pass. He goes up the counter and then comes back and says "Oh crap they changed the gate on us! We have to get the heck out of here!" DH makes things very over dramatic all the time. So much so some times he really freaks me out. I know he is doing it on purpose cause he starts to laugh once he sees the look of dread on my face. So we pack up our things and speed walk it to the correct gate which again is already boarding by the time we get there! ***!?!?
We fly into Orlando finally. After we landed we were informed that we couldn't go to the terminal because of a Thunderstorm that rolled in as we were landing. So, we sat on the tarmac for 45 minutes waiting for the storm to pass. By time time it's 7pm. I'm not mad not yet, I'm just ready to get to the hotel. Finally the pilot is given the okay to dock and we jump off the plane.
Here is DH walking to the baggage claim. He was acting silly like he always does!
I took a picture of the rain. My high hopes for it not raining my trip this time started crashing down!
We got on the tram that takes us to the baggage claim. DH tried to cheer me up that it would be a great week even though the weather reports claimed it'd rain all day tomorrow and then a 40% chance of rain the remainder of the week. I was simply not packed for the rain so if it did rain it would have been worse than last year!
We find our way to the baggage claim and then make our way to the Mears Shuttle.
Up next it takes how long to get to Shades of Green?!?! And speak up when you pay for something!
