My sons are going to be in a wedding this summer. It isn't going to be super fancy and will be outside at the end of July. I was told to get dark brown dress pants, white shirts and tie (not sure what color yet). Any suggestions on where to look for nice stuff that won't be too expensive? They are size 7. Our church is pretty casual, so haven't had to get them anything dressier than khaki pants yet! TIA! :goodvibes

Try Kohls, JCPenny or Nordstrom Rack. I don't know if Dockers come in dark brown, but those could work. The white shirt should be fairly easy to find.

Agree dark brown will be tough. I think anything other than black ~dress~ pants will be tough. Did she say khakis were too informal?

White shirt, possibly even ties- keep an eye open at Goodwill/Once Upon a Child, etc. That's the sort thing that gets used once for Easter or a wedding and then outgrown. :)

I agree that dark brown's going to be difficult to find.

I'd talk to the bride about the possibility of an Eton suit. It's much more suited to an outdoor July wedding and is so classic and cute. Wait . . . size 7 -- I was picturing a very small boy. I might be vastly over-estimating his age.

Thanks for the replies! They are age 7, size 6/7. A little over the "typical" ring bearer age, but my kids are the only niece/nephews either of them have. Since I have twins, I need them to match, so they will have to be new. Actually, I goofed, I need the shirt ivory and short sleeve. Geez, I didn't realize dark brown would be hard to find!

Those at JCP are really cute! Good deal for under $20, too. I might pick those up for Christmas pics, they might be too hot for July.

Thanks again for all of the help! My oldest is a girl, so I'm still new to some aspects of shopping for boys!

check out Macy's for shirts. I was able to get my boys the shirt/tie together in a pkg. on sale for 4.99!!!! the shirts i got were blue and blue w/stripes but i was not looking for white. Also i've seen the pkgs. at Walmart also...

Also, size 7 u could just get the suits, pants/shirt/tie/vest real cute for 19.99 - at jcpenny, marshalls, macys etc.

My little guy had chocolate brown pants from GAP last Easter. Also check Gymboree and Children's Place. Ivory shirts might be tough. Can it be something like a linen shirt or solid Hawaiian color?

Too bad your boys weren't a size 5. I have very cute matching linen sets that sound like they would be perfect. My boys wore them one Easter - dark chocolate brown linen cargo type pants and ivory linen short sleeve shirts with dark brown topstitching and they wore stride rite fisherman sandals. We got the idea out of a Sew Beautiful magazine from years ago. (It was a nice older boy look.)

It's tough to have to buy two sets of clothes that you may never use again. Last April my boys were the ring bearers - had to rent two tuxedos. (Don't forget about shoes/belt.)

Sounds like you may just have a hunt to get what the bride wants. You may also consider making or having someone make dark linen pull on pants with a solid ivory Hawaiian style shirt if the bride is up for it. She may, however, want the ring bearers to look like the groomsmen.

Good luck!

If you have a Burlington Coat factor nearby try that--they have nice dress clothes very cheap there. You hate to spend too much when they grow so fast! My youngest was a ringbearer two years in a row & I picked up a nice black suit there for only $20. They also have lots of packed dress shirts so you may luck out on the ivory there, not to mention the dark brown pants.

As a pp said, I found dark brown pants at Gap Kids outlet last year. Sears has some dress clothes so you may want to give them a shot. Do you have an Osh Kosh outlet by you? They have dress pants too, I always have to go there to pick up slims for my youngest but I can't remember if they had brown.

I'm always out & about shopping for my boys so I'll keep an eye out for you!

Good luck!

Ask her if she would allow white pants and maybe a shirt that is close to the color that the girls are wearing.
It would be easier to find white pants than brown. Beige is everywhere but might clash with the other colors.

I just did a search for "boy's white pants" and found quite a few different places that sell them
also, Amazon has the cutest white "Communion" suites for boys. Check them out and or go to a store that sells Communion stuff, you might be able to find something on clearance since Communion time has come and past.
I bought my son's Communion suits at Burlington so check there if you have one in your area, they probably will be on clearance too.

Okay, now Don't laugh...but think "school uniform pants" http://www.frenchtoast.com/product/double+knee+pant+boys+4-7.do?sortby=ourPicks They might have other ones that look a little dressier, or you might google "school uniform pants" and find something a little fancier, but it would be a resonable budget minded option for you.

I would check out Burlington Coat Factory if you have one nearby. I've had good luck with 'dress clothes' for boys there in the past.

The Wooden Soldier might have something, I didn't look at all their pages for brown, but it is a possibility. www.woodensoldierltd.com

Beyond that, I would start looking for dark brown dockers at LL Bean, Land's End, JC Penney, possibly Macy's
