2 room reservations with DDP, can I use 1 credit from each?

I have 2 separate reservations, staying at the same resort with the dining plan on both. If I check out on Thursday / Check in on Thursday, can I use 1 credit from each reservation to pay for a signature dining meal on Thursday night?

Does that make sense?

Dennis

No, you can't. You'd have to use 2 credits from the same account.

If there are 2 of you couldn't one person use the 2 credits from 1 card and then the other person use 2 credits form the other. Just wondering if that could work, or are you alone then you would have 1 credit and 1 credit then NALA is right.

In case you question is about when you can't use dining credits anymore, you an use your dining credits up to midnight on the day you check out.

Does anyone know, what if the parks close after midnight? Can you use your dining credits after midnight up until park closing?

I believe the OP knows when the credits expire - he wants to know if he has 1 TS credit left over can he use that in conjunction with a credit from the second room reservation to eat at a signature restaurant. That answer is no. They can't scan two KTTW cards, one for each credit.

Park hours aren't relevant for the dining plan - the credits expire at midnight whether the parks remain open past that or not.

Yeah, if you have an even number of guests on the reservation, this would work out fine by essentially splitting the check. Otherwise, you might need to do a little more juggling with your credit usage.

Ok, here is some more info. We have 2 reservations at AKV, same room, just borrowed some points to stay more nights. There is 4 adults and 3 kids on both reservations. We check in to the second reservation, won't they just load the credits on the same KTTW? Or do we get new KTTW?

I was also thinking of splitting the check, or paying out of pocket for 1 of the kids. It is for Hoop De Doo review. If I make separate resies can they sit us together if we check in early enough?

You will get new KTTW cards when you check in for the second reservation. You won't be able to put any leftover credits from the first reservation on the new KTTW cards. You will need to hang onto those old cards until all the credits from the first stay are used.

If you are going for Hoop de Doo and you have one TS credit remaining from the first reservation for each person, you can do this:

Use 4 TS credits on the old cards to pay for the meal for 2 adults. Use 4 TS credits from the new reservation to pay for the meal for the other 2 adults. Or pay for those adults out of pocket.

With 3 kids (this is assuming that all the kids are under 10 years old), you would only have enough TS credits on the old reservation to buy HDDR for one of the kids. You would need to use the new credits or pay out of pocket for two of the kids, and you would still have one kids credit left over.

You cannot use kids credits to pay for meals for adults at HDDR.

Or, use the remaining TS credit on the old reservation for a sit-down breakfast, then pay for HDDR with credits from the new reservation.

I am assuming you are splitting the stay into two reservations, but remaining at AKV and trying to get into the same room for the second stay. Even so, you will have to check out, check back in again, and receive new KTTW cards.

If you make separate reservations for HDDR I do not think it is likely that you will be seated together.

Splitting the check is an ingenius solution. Kudos to beroh2253 for thinking of it!

As for the third kid, I would suggest paying OOP for one of the cheaper children's TS meals (I think many are just $7.59) earlier in your trip so that you'll have an even number of TS credits left on the first reservation to use on this night.

Well I booked it and we will make it work by paying with 2 different KTTW cards. Great idea about paying cash for an earlier kids meal.

Thanks for the help!

10 days till checkin!

Have a great trip, glad it all worked out. Have fun at the Hoop-Dee-Doo and drink a pitcher of beer for me there.

When we were at DVC and had 2 ressies for same room type they inked the reservations and had the same card for both 'stays'. is that an option for you?

Jody, I don't think it's an option because they have DDP on both reservations. They might even have different plans on each one - that's usually why DVC people with DDP split stays in the same resort. From what I hear you can't link the reservations if you want DDP on both of them. There's no way to put the new credits on the old card.

we did have ddp that trip and they had them linked at checkin and we never moved and had just the one card for hte trip

but again, it was same room type. this was a couple years ago though

I had used pts for 5 nights and added a night through expedia on cash. so we had the same cards for the week :confused3

The first reservation is on our DVC with the dining plan. The second reservation on another persons DVC in my name with the dining plan. The reservations was linked before we added the dining plan. I had to call back several times to get them to actually link the reservations again after adding the dining plan to both. however I did call back to check and they verified that the reservations are linked and both have the dining plan.

We are staying in the same room on both reservations, a 2 bedroom and have the standard dining plan on both.

Either way, we will make it work.

Dennis

If your reservations are linked, do you still have to get different cards? the DVC board says you do if I remember right, if you are going with 2 separate reservations and both have dining plan. Maybe the linking is just to get the same room.

If you can get all your DDP credits up front for the whole stay then it won't matter what you do with them.

I'm not sure if I need to get different cards. This is the first time we are using our DVC. Hopefully we get all the credits up front so I don't have to update my excel sheet while on vacation with remaining credits :)
