Dining reservations with the Disney Dining Plan

Ok, so I've worked out how to make advanced dining reservations using the disney world website, what I want to know is if I need to inform anyone that I have the disney dining plan.

I've booked my holiday in september through Virgin and have received the dining plan as part of the package because we are going to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. However, we haven't got any kind of Disney dining plan reference number so I have no formal way of informing them I'm on the dining plan. Is this an issue, or can I just make my reservations and then tell them I'm on the dining plan when I turn up to eat?

Any answers would be very grateful!! Thanks!!

You will need this if you want to book your restaurants with the "+10 days", which is one of the perks of staying onsite (I am assuming you are onsite - can't see your signature while posting). However since you are past your 180 day window for September this is irrelevant so it's your call. Also, if you book a restaurant that takes a credit card hold, or charges in full when you book, then you would want to have your DDP registered to your US reservation number so that you don't have to pay this upfront. If you don't have any such restaurants booked (signature meals and dinner shows etc), then don't bother just go for it.

If you do want your US no, phone Disney's CRO (Central Reservations Office), give them your VH reference number and all your details and ask them for your US reservation number to make your ADRs.

Since you are going in September I suggest you get those ADRs made as soon as possible as the popular places fill up quickly and free dining for September has been released to the public in the US meaning high demands on the restaurants during this period. Good luck! :goodvibes

Your server will ask you if you are on DDP as soon as you sit down for your meal. They usually ask to see your Key to the World card to confirm which plan you are on. They will then tell you your dining options for the plan you have.
No need to inform anyone in advance.

You can make reservations without connecting them to your hotel reservation but if you want them linked and be able to book 180+10 days you will need your US booking reference number from Disney.

thanks for the help guys, really appreciate it. Will continue to book online but will try and get my ddp number from disney too, just to be safe.

will do! My (new) DW's brother is getting married there so will be spending a few days with them and the wedding I am sure. Think he is booking T-rex and California grill for all the family. Rest of the time is our though, so hope we get plenty more booked. Really want to try some new places!

You know that T-Rex isn't on the Dining Plan? I know your DW's brother is booking so I guess he will have sorted that out, but just a heads up in case you are planning on using credits there. :goodvibes
