Pepper Market (Food Court) in Coronado Springs?

Are we permitted to dine here even if we are not staying in the CSR?

Also, I was wondering if anybody has been to Pepper Market recently and can comment on the food. Everything on the menu (via wdwinfo) looks delicious, especially for a CS! I read on the forums a mention that the "ribeye steak" is no longer available. Is this true?

As in any Disney resort, anyone can eat at their counter service or table service, etc. We've stayed at the CSR eight times and we have never had a bad meal at the Pepper Market. Yes, unfortunately, the ribeye is no longer on the menu. If you check the link in my signature to the "unofficial" thread, we have the most recent menu that we are aware of (December 2009) for the PM. Please also note that there is a 10% gratuity added because you are seated, served your drinks and you get real silverware (they get away with this because the restaurant is not owned by Disney). To avoid the 10% gratuity, you can ask for your food to go.

Thanks for the heads-up about the gratuity.
The half-rotisserie chicken and char-grilled steak look appealing, but without the ribeye and seeing as we have to make a special effort to travel there for a lunch meal, which cuts into our park time, and having read many negative reviews, we will likely not be going.
That is too bad.. the menu initially looked quite attractive.

No problem. The PM has a love/hate relationship as it is run differently. And as much as we enjoy it, I would not make an effort to go there if I weren't staying there for the very reason you state...too much time taken away from the parks to get there.

As you can see from my sig. line, we really enjoy CSR. PM used to be a great counter service. Unfortunately, they no longer have many of the menu items that made it so good. As of our last trip: no ribeye, no fajitas, no baked potatoes or steak fries, no bbq beef sandwiches, no deli-style sandwich special. The made-to-order pizza was still very good. We used to eat there about 5x during our stays at CSR--now we wouldn't be able to find something we would like for more than 2 meals. Too bad, it WAS really good a couple of years ago!

Kathy do you tip if you are on the dining plan? I was on the plan in October and left a tip on the table. Just making sure I am not double paying. By the way the service was very friendly and attentive, I know some have reported rude servers but I never encountered that.

We tried CSR and the Pepper Market for the first time in March. I was really surprised how much I liked it, although I wasn't thrilled w/ the gratuity situation. It wasn't crowded when we were there, but I can imagine it being a confusing madhouse during a busy time.

The tip USED to be included in the dining plan; it no longer is, so you need to leave the 10%.

When I was there for the 2008 marathon weekend I stayed at POP but had lunch on arrival day at the Pepper Market. The food was very good and there are a lot of choices so everyone can probably find something they would like.

The steak is offered only at dinner and I believe it is a different cut now, not a ribeye.

No fajitas, steak fries, baked potatoes, bbq beef sands, or deli sands...geez whats left!? I haven't looked at your menu link, but now I need to! I was never that fond of PM because I didn't usually have a great meal there...but some of these listed were my staples there. The CM's that work there are usually awesome too. Bummer...

I have always been curious as to why the PM is not owned and operated by Disney and how that came to be. I would love to know.

Thanks

It is because it a convention resort and I think they cater the majority of their food to the convention crowd (there are other restaurants at Disney--World Showcae and AK that are owned by outside vendors as well). None of the dining establishments are owned by Disney at the Coronado.

I think the snack bar at the pool may be operated by Disney, but the other food service outlets (Maya Grill, Pepper Market, Rix) are operated by a third party.

All Ears recently updated Pepper Market's menu on its site.

I know that Pepper Market is not run by Disney, but I think that Pepper Market is greatly missing its mark by not offering many Mexican food offerings (taking away the fajitas) at a Mexican themed resort.

We ate there in 2007 (and we are going back to CSR in October), and had no problems. Everything was very good and all of the employees were nice.

When did this start? When we were there last August the tip was included on the dining plan.
thanks!

My understanding is they put a sign up around September to indicate that it was not included.

Oh. That's annoying. Last yr., we ate there 3 times & had service deserving of a tip 2 of those times. So if you're on the dining plan, you leave the tip in cash on the table for your server?
