:confused3Has anybody heard anything about the dining plan for 2011 yet? Changes, stays the same, etc?

:confused3My CM friend told me that there is talk that the plan is going to increase to $44 per adult and there will no longer be a daily snack, but maybe a mug in its place. Has anybody else heard this?

:confused3I dont expect any official word from Disney on the dining plan for 2011 until late this year, just thought I would ask.

This is the information that has been given to guests from Great Britain by British travel agencies who are now booking free dining trips for 2011 for British guests:

1) None of the dining plans will include dessert with any meal.

2) The basic dining plan will have an extra snack per night added.

3) The refillable mug will no longer be included with the quick service dining plan.

There hasn't been any specific pricing information because the Brits are booking free dining packages, but there has been speculation that the price will go up, at least for the basic dining plan.

This was information provided to British guests looking to book vacation packages with free dining, and no information has been released by Disney for US guests for 2011 (that won't be released until August).

If that is factual, and that is the way Disney moves, I will no longer purchase the dining plan. I can see a lot of people moving away from this.

Hmm - if my math skills serve me correctly..... Taking away - one more item + more $$money = no value and not a good plan. ;)

As a matter of fact, we will have a grocery delivery as we are staying in a villa and spend very little money on Disney Dining. ;)

They are taking away desserts but adding an extra snack per day (if we're talking about the basic plan) so it works out fairly even. I'd actually prefer to have the extra snack instead of dessert included with each meal, since we're not big dessert people.

If they do take away the refillable mug from the QS plan & raise the price, I don't think it will be a good deal for anyone! Factoring in the cost of the mug & averaging $3/snack, the current QS plan still works out to ~$10/meal. Many of the QS meals cost less than $10 if you pay OOP.

I have to disagree. A creme brulee, chocolate torte, chocolate souffle, etc is a better deal and much better accompaniment after dinner than a Mickey bar, ice cream sandwich, coke or pop corn. :rolleyes1

Remember these are all rumors at this point. Nothing has been officially announced by Disney and won't be until later in the year. In fact, even Disney UK, the official Disney office in Britain, has not reflected the purported changes to date, so although it makes for an interesting discussion, try not let it raise your blood pressure too much just yet. :goodvibes

Also, losing two desserts (one with your CS meal and one with your TS meal), and picking up one snack is even less of a deal (financially) on the regular Dining Plan.

There is no word that the Quick Service Dining Plan or the Deluxe Dining Plan pick up a snack at all, so more value is lost on those plans as well.

But, as TDC Nala said, it's all speculation at this point. (There is more information/speculation on the Will the dining plan change in 2011 thread)

Just wanted to add that only one Holiday company-Virgin Holidays, are advertising the fact that there will be an additional snack. All the others are advertising only 1 snack.

Hopefully we will find out for certain in August.
