California Grill Pricing Confusion ????

Okay, I made ressies for CG on Wednesday May 19th at 5:30pm and the price they are quoting is $100 per person... now I found Sunday, May 23rd at 5:30pm ressies for $36-$59 per person. Anyone care to explain?

You should take a look at a menu, and price out what you want. I don't know where those prices are, but it will completely depend on what you order. There are menus on this site, on disneyworld.com and on allears.net

I think $100 per person is a touch high for ordering off the menu and enjoying some wine too.

Are you sure they weren't quoting the no-show charge to your credit card based on the number of people in your party? They are obliged to tell you that if you don't cancel within their specified time frame (I can't recall if it was 24 or 48 hours), your credit card used to hold the reservation will be charged a fee per person for the no-show.

California Grill is not a fixed price restaurant, so there should not be a specific dollar amount quoted otherwise.

Who was quoting $100 a person? You'd have to order 4 courses and wine to hit that, per person.

Sometimes, I like to order a soup/salad type of thing as a first course, and then another more substantial appetizer to serve as a main course. That way it's cheaper, and I'm not too full to get dessert! Doing that, I come in under $50 for myself and get to sample 3 courses.

Actually my mom got in a tizzy over this just yesterday. On the Disney site if you go to California Grill, on the right hand side of that page where the menu links are, it says:

$$$$ ($100 per person)
Prix Fixe

I'm assuming that this is just a misprint or something, but she was upset that suddenly it seemed California Grill had a $100 fixed price menu

It's just a mistake, right? You can order whatever you want?

On my itinerary that was just printed out, it was $20 within 24 hours.

& no there is no pre-fix at the Cali grill. It depends on what you get but for an app, entree and dessert, its about $75+ a person and if you add a drink or 2 plus tip, it can be $100 per person.

I haven't seen anything to indicate that the restaurant is anything but "order what you want". I hope to heavens it's not $100/person!!

Maybe they did change policies though, because I just looked at the itinerary printed from club and it does say $20 if cancelled within 24 hrs or no-shows. So, maybe they are changing direction and making it more like a Victoria Albert's

The no show fee is $20 per person. It has been in effect since around 2003. The reason for it is because people were making reservations just to get upstairs and watch the fireworks, then leaving without ordering anything.

You can easily spend $100 in California Grill if you order a full meal, but it is not a fixed price restaurant like Victoria & Alberts and it has not been converted to one.

I'm not sure where you se that menu since on the disney website & allears website there is nothing listing a pre fix for the cali grill

If you look at the prices online and they are pretty accurate (accruate on the low side if anything), and you order 3 courses, it will run you almost $100 after tax & tip and then if you get drinks, it can be more.

We didn't have a pre fixed menu either when we went. Yes it's expensive and well worth it

Sometimes CG has a fixed priced menu for holidays or special events. That might be the information you saw. On normal days it's an individually priced a la carte menu.

I say website snafu. It's still the same menu...the fixed price thing is a mistake.

California Grill can easily be a very expensive restaurant if you order a 4 course meal with wine. They have an extensive a la carte menu with an amazing wine list. However, my daughter and I have eaten there for under a $100 for both of us when we don't have any alcohol, each have a main course, share a dessert and have coffee. The food is wonderful and it is as expensive, or not, as you chose it to be.

It does say prix fixe menu which is not correct (at least not for the whole restaurant.) It does not say $100 per person. It says "$$$$ (over $100 per person)"

Definately a website snafu (imagine that... a Disney website issue ).

I will say that $100 per person isn't that far off the mark. If you estimate $14 appy, $40 entree, $12 dessert plus tax & tip, you're in the $80-$85 range & that's without any beverages/alcohol/coffee, flatbread or sushi.

We are a family of 4 & we usually order a flatbread, 4 appys & entrees, 2 desserts, 2 alcoholic & 2 non-alcoholic & 1 coffee & our bill is now around $325 AFTER the TIW discount.

But it is sooooooooo worth it
