How many days do you normally find you struggle with jet lag for on arrival ??

Im trying to plan our MVMCP night and wanted it early on on our trip as my thinking is it will be less busy start of december ??

The one i would like to go to is on the 3rd night of our holiday - is there any chance we could get past 9pm that night ??

Apart from waking early on the first morning, we don't suffer at all, but coming home is a different story! Travelling west to east is far harder on the body.

We have usually adjusted by the 3rd day so you should be fine. You could always have an afternoon nap if not to keep you going.

1st day, we always book a character breakfast at Crystal Palace as we are up at 5.30am :scared1:

The 1st night we are always in bed by about 9/9.30 and then we are ok for day 2 and onwards.:thumbsup2

Same as the other posters - no problem at all in the US. Coming home ..... well I choose to stay until the Saturday night and arrive home on Sunday and straight back to work the next morning. I suffer no end for the entire week - despite collapsing into bed much earlier than usual. Jetlag on the return is brutal!

We're tired when we arrive, wake up early (6-7am) on the first morning and are slightly tired that night as a result of being up early. By the next morning it doesn't even cross your mind.

Congratulations on your 6000 posts!

I agree that you should be absolutely fine by day 3. We have no problems on the first full day - but then we do often break in the afternoon for a quick nap at the resort before hitting the parks again. Even if you do need that extra day to adjust you should be totally with it in terms of EST by the third day. Enjoy!

Day we arrive we stay up as long as poss, Matt & Karen usually til around 11, me til 12. No jet lag. Worst thing is going to bed early and getting up before 7-8am, thats when it can take a few days to adjust.
Coming home if everything goes to plan sleep on plane then again stay awake as late as poss. Didn't work that way this last trip with change of planes with volcano, 31 hour journey home so took a few days to get over it.

No problem in usa if you are sensible and stay up, which is NEVER a problem for us, coming back, well who cares cause were back.

We did MNSSHP on day three of our trip. Kids were 10 months (slept through the entire event) and 2.5 who lasted until we headed away after the last parade.

I think you would be fine.

Last year we were up dressed and waiting for the food court at POP to open at 6 am for the first couple of days! LOL! Never really had problems staying up though. By the end of the hols we were all having late nights and sleeping past 9 am (even our one year old) it was bliss!!

It's the way home that always kills me - luckily the wee one had crazy long lies too so we were all able to catch up!

We kept the troops up as long as possible on arrival day. DD11, DS8 and DD7 lasted until 8pm. Think it was after day 3 that they lasted beyond 9pm.
Though I had to cancel California Grill on day 7 as the troops would never have lasted for the fireworks and got the best of our 9pm ADR :)

DRINK WATER

Every year I have suffered with jet lag (i've been 9 times) to make things easy i would'nt drink or eat, so I did'nt have to get up on the plane.

Two weeks ago on the 8 and 1/2 hour flight I drank 4 big bottles of water also started drinking the day before I felt brill we even went out the night we got there, I have never done that before. (had to use the toilet and huge number of times)

So big test the way back did the same (this sat just gone)water water and more water i feel great.
First time ever i have not suffered.

Hi -
another family who only suffers on the way back.... well half of us... me and youngest have no problems readjusting now - we do the stay up as late as possible and stay hydrated thing. Hubby and eldest both tend to nap more and suffer for a few days on return.

Never heard this before but gotta be worth a go hey if it helps ease jet lag ill do anything !!! :)

I don't find the jet lag on the way out bad at all - just stay up as late as I can on arrival, normally wake up very early the first morning, and after that I'm fine.

The jet lag on the way back I find difficult to handle - getting up for work at 2am US time :rotfl: but I normally have a nap when I arrive back for a couple of hours, wake myself up all groggy, and then fall asleep at a decent time in the evening :)

When we went in 2008 we flew on 30th December and on NYE we went to Epcot, we lasted until 9pm and then we were at home tucked up in our beds, we missed New Year completley! :lmao:

This year with our delays etc we didn't really suffer from jet lag at all - as I think that it kind of helped us to adjust! Every cloud has a silver lining and all that! :rotfl:

I think by the third night you will be fine for a night out!

Enjoy.

:)

I think I would just echo what everyone else has already said in that we never tend to notice any type of jetlag on the way there.
The kids especially seem to cope with the early mornings better than us grown ups but after a couple of days even they were staying in bed until a reasonable hour (and by that I mean 8-9am - not your type of 'reasonable' Louise :rotfl:)

i agree, stay up as late as you can the first night, and aim to go to bed at a similar time as you would in the uk, we normally sleep around 10 so we go to be bewteen 10 - 11, sometimes later, i try not to let the kids sleep either till a bit later, we get up early for a few days but ajust , it normally hits me again around day 4 im a bit shattered but not enough to keep me away from anywhere, dont normally make late bookings till the second week but then we go for 3 weerks plus so its not a hardship.

I was dreading last xmas with izzy only being just 1 but she was an angel, sailed through it and slept so well, ajusted easily bless her..xxxx

Coming home was a whole other story..........espically with the snow delay!:rolleyes1
