I saw these beautiful roses outside the Alice and Wonderland ride... what awesome theming! They look like they are white roses that someone stopped in the midle of painting red!

I wanted to know what type of rose they were (so I can plant some!) so I cashed in one one of those obscure Disneyland facts that you have heard about, but never tried. I read in a book once that at City hall, they have a guide that tells you exactly what is planted where. Well, they do!

And they even gave me a private room in City Hall to glance it over

(forgive my camelback on the table!)
The guide is broken down by land, and then by attraction, and lists exactly what is planted where! So awesome! I found that these roses are clled scentimentl. (I'm new to the whole landscaping and gardening thing!)

Since seeing those beautiful roses, and thinking of how many people probably walk right past without noticing, I've been paying more attention to the plants, and encouraging my kids to do the same.
My DD LOVED the marigolds out at DCA

And I LOVE these flowers, called foxgloves, but came home and googled them, only to find they are highly toxic, also known as Dead Man's Bells. The flowers, seeds, roots, leaves, everything is poisonous, and can lead to hallucinations and heart problems. (FYI, they are planted ALL over the place- this picture was taken ouside the Matterhorn, there is a BIG bed of them at Bugs Land in DCA.

Anyone else want to share some landscaping pics?

What a fantastic idea for a thread and what beautiful photos!!:thumbsup2

You know, I must agree -in the last couple of trips I have begun to pay much more attention to more of the flowers and plants (the special ones in Tomorrowland, the topiaries, all of it), because those hold a lot of the famous Disney attention to detail that we all know and love. I haven't really launched into a full photo-taking spree yet but have been planning on it if I ever have the time. I have been noticing how the flowers are perfectly colored or themed to their specific locations. Even the whimsical shapes of the flowers can fit in with where they are planted, as the ones you capured above.

I don't have any pics but thanks for sharing yours. I love that DL has a book with all the plants used in the park. What a wonderful thing to do. It's those little things that make Disneyland so special...The flowers at the bottom are actually foxgloves. I know because I love them but I can't plant them in the shady (they like shade) areas of my yard because of their toxicity and my dogs.

A lot of the "bell" plants are toxic. My golden retriever got into some "million bells" when she was a pup and passed out. We thought she was a goner! Those flowers didn't come up as toxic but after further research we found out that they where a hybrid crossed with something highly toxic.

Thanks for sharing your lovely pictures.

Thanks for the correction! They are very beautiful, and I would love to plant some, until I found out they were deadly!

Those roses look like "Rock and Roll," which is a patent grandiflora rose. I have one in my garden.

I also have the "Disneyland Rose," the official rose of Disneyland Park! This one is a floribunda.

Sorry, I am almost as boring about plants as I am about Disneyland!!!!!!

How neat! I'm wowed by the room they gave you too--that's too cool! Most people have not had their own office at Disneyland. :)

I love this! When we were there last week, the first thing I noticed was the missing poinsettias, but then I started noticing all the other flowers and they were so pretty. Now I wish I would have taken more pictures.

When we walked through Frontierland these red things (how's that for displaying my non-greenthumbness ) were so striking.

After I took the first picture my husband wanted me to change the setting on the camera so it would just pick up red hues. I didn't even know that was an option. Anyway, here's a couple more of the red trees/bushes/vines/whatevers. :) They were so pretty.

I remember walking in one day and Town Square was planted with Carnations - the smell was wonderful.

Love all the pictures! DH and I always love looking at the flowers between Bug's Land and It's Tough to be a Bug. It's what we wish our garden looked like. I don't have any pictures of it though. I should take some next time.

:lovestruc love this! My husband and I always check out the landscaping ~ one of those things that makes DL so special IMO. How cool that they have a book with all the details available at City Hall!

Okay, what setting did you use and what kind of camera do you have?

I  flowers and gardening.
I  Disnelyand.
How wonderful this thread is! I LOVE those Rock-n-Roll roses, hmmm I do have some more areas that need planting...
I am always pointing-out beautiful/unique flowers to my kids, my DH used to think it was silly that I would stop to examine a flower...15yrs later he now points them out to me:cutie:
FUN thread!

Thanks for sharing! :goodvibes

The last couple of trips to Disneyland, I have taken the time to "stop and smell the roses". I plan to do that again this trip.

I love going in spring when those trees with the beautiful purple/bluish flowers are in bloom. The first time I went in May was a couple of years ago and those trees were amazing! I can't wait to see them again! Oh, and the cactus that was in bloom in DCA! I hope we aren't too early to see those in bloom because last time we were there at the end of May.

I'm not sure how to add pics, or I'd share.

Did you read about the plantings in Tomorrowland? I've heard it is all planted with edible plants. I was wondering if this is till true?

Oh yes!! You've never seeing them, Skiingfast? All the TL plants, trees or vegetation are either vegetables, fruits or herbs of some sort! It's amazing - but it is one of those magic things about DL that people probably overlook repeatedly because they are rushing to and fro to get to wherever. There are lemons. There is parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. There is something that looks like cabbage. Some of them are more obvious and others are a bit rare. There are many more planters and trees around than I had realized. Once I started to notice them I felt like Columbus, discovering America!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:
