So this upcoming trip has a few firsts for my DBF and myself. For me I am counting this as my first trip to DW. I went when I was 7 yrs old but we stayed off site and the only real memories I have are going on the Dumbo ride with my mom and the Tea Cups with both parents, and both times my Mom was almost sick….. I was a mean mean child. LOL. For DBF and I this is our first trip together!!! Eeek! Fingers crossed we do not kill each other, lol. But seriously, we are both really looking forward to the trip.

I am so excited to go to WD and inspired by all the reviews I have read, that I cannot wait to start my dining review, so I have decided to start a pre trip report as I have seen a few out there. I have to say I am totally addicted to this site and cant get enough of the food porn (that totally cracks me up btw!).

But before we get into all the details let me make some introductions.

Me::MinnieMo, (25) aka Shauna. I work in the HR field and LOVE food. Food is my passion, so much that in highschool everyone was sure that I was going to culinary school upon graduating. Well I fooled them, I rather keep cooking and more importantly eating as a pastime, then a job. So with that being said, yes I can be a picky eater as there are some things I do not like but I am into trying new things to eat when I can. What I’m not so fond of is peppers and mushrooms (well mainly button mushrooms, portabello and ****ake I’m ok with). My biggest food addiction is sushi, but hey if I have to have once vice in this world I am fine with it being sushi. This trip I want to try new things as often as possible.

DBF:music:, (27) aka Chris. DBF works in the manufacturing industry and to him food is food. His take on food is fairly casual, he’s going to eat what he likes. I am very proud of him though, he tried sushi, and is ok with some of it, well not the raw stuff, but if I have a new sushi companion I will take it. On this trip DBF plans to eat as much steak and ribs as he possibly can, oh and there will be a lot of beer. I tried to tell him why not use this experience to try new things and he said “he is of Irish decent, give me steak and potatoes every day and I’m in heaven.” Boys! Or he will go with his other motto, “I will get the most expensive thing on the menu, even if I don’t like it”. He will definitely get his money out of the DxDP.

Ok, back to the trip. We have booked a 6 night, 7 day trip the end of July to head to the great WD. We are taking advantage of the Gift Card promotion, so that will be an added bonus for us. I am pretty sure that the GC will be used to buy drinks and pay for tips, food and snacks not covered on the dining plan and of course some souvenirs and gift for family and friends. After much debate (I mean weeks of going back and forth) we decided on CSR. ****Any input on what is a good area/building to ask for??**** We have chosen to do the DxDP so we can take advantage of the many signature restaurants, and I didn’t feel the other plans would be enough food (except after reading all the reviews I’m wondering if all that walking is really going to be enough to work off all the food because it looks like it is a lot). So in total that will be 18 meals and 12 snack credits for each of us.

Ok so now to the stuff you want to know……. the ADRs!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am very happy to say that we were able to make all our ADRs except for one. Ok here we go:

July 25th
B – Combination of continental breakfast from the hotel we will be staying at/what’s served on the flight
L – Crystal Palace - No ADR, fingers crossed we get in!
D – California Grill

July 26th
B – Boma
L – Yak & Yeti
D – Jiko

July 27th
B – x
L – Teppan Edo
D – Tutto Italia

July 28th
B – Kona Café (Paying OOP)
L – Les Chefs de France
D – Narcoossee's

July 29th
B – x
L – Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater
D – Yachtsman Steakhouse

July 30th
B – Ohana's Best Friends Breakfast with Lilo & Stitch
L – x
D – Citrocis

July 31st
B – x
L – Pay OOP for Wolfgangs or some other CS.
D – Possibly grab something from the park to take with us, or get something at the airport.

So this is our line up. I don’t think many changes will be made as we have the ones we want, except for Le Cellier, but if we cant get that we will choose something else at Epcot, but can’t decide which one yet **** Again, please feel free to make suggestions****. Also you will see a few meals with an “x” and that means we are not using a meal credit for this, it will probably be a combination of snack credits and using the GC to pick up things to snack on to replace a meal.

When it comes time to write the actual review I will include pictures as much as possible, will include the number of snack/meal credits used and also give the price as if paying OOP. I also want to come up with some kind of rating system, but haven’t figured that out yet.

Well I think that is enough for now. I hope you enjoy this pre trip thread. In another post I will talk about how this trip almost went up in smoke, and yes there was some panic going on with me and the DBF and even my coworkers we involved as we tried to figure out a good reason to give the airline to try to correct the problem (spoiler, Southwest is an awesome airline!!!!!!).

Cheers!

Congrats on your upcoming trip!! Good luck with the rest of your planning and preparations, and can't wait to hear your reviews!!!

Looking forward to your reviews! :thumbsup2 We're also doing DxDP. Would love to hear more how you will use the 24 snacks you will have :cheer2:

Thank you so much. So glad that DBF suggested this as a trip. At first I was a little ticked that he really can only go on vacation during his plant shut down in the summer (I like going down south to an island in Jan/Feb) but I think it will be great to try something new and I have wanted to experience Dinsey as an adult for a few years now.

Looking forward to your reviews! :thumbsup2 We're also doing DxDP. Would love to hear more how you will use the 24 snacks you will have :cheer2:

Congrats on your trip! I see you will be heading to Disney shortly after; I will try to have as much info posted as possible.

I will document the snack credits with pictures and prices whenever I can. I will need to bring a folder or something with me to store all of the receipts!

Haha your DBF sounds like my DH when it comes to the most expensive thing on the menu...turns out he liked every single dish there, so your guy won't be disappointed!

I don't think you're gonna need to use the gift card for more food or snacks...you're gonna be PLENTY full! Definitely use it for tips and drinks! They add up after a while and you're gonna be glad you have that!

July 27 for dinner - does it have to be a dinner at Epcot? if so Coral Reef and Chefs de France is awesome! However, you have the Boardwalk and the Yacht & Beach club within walking distance of Epcot and they have amazing restaurants there!

I think your plans look great! You're gonna have a blast!

Signing on! On your EPCOT suggestion, maybe cross over to the Boardwalk and hit Flying Fish!

I swear, boys are something else sometimes. But at least they keep us entertained!

I am sure that we wont need to buy much extra food, but we will for sure need it to buy some pretzel sticks at Goofy's, they look soooooo good. I have started to add things up to have a rough idea for tips, but its only my choices so far so I need DBF to make his selection. So far its more than I expected but I guess when I really look at the number of meals it shouldn't surprise me.

No, it doesnt need to be at Epoct. I would like to go to Chef's but it doesnt seem to appeal to DBF much. He wants Tutto Italia, but Im not sold on it. There are a ton of Italian restaurants around where we live, not to often I see a French restaurant. But I am pretty much up for anything.

I cant wait to go on the trip. Just under 3 months to go!

Sounds like a great line up!

Thanks for reading! Make sure to come back for the review!

Thanks for the suggestion. I know I read the menu a while ago, but I will have to look at it again.

Well DUH you're gonna have to buy pretzel sticks! That's a given! :rotfl: For me, it's Dole Whips....yuuuummmm...and even the Mickey Head icecream bars!

I agree with TigerKat! Flying Fish is soo good!

But honestly Tutto Italia is really good too!...not to mention, you got some good eye candy going on over there if you know what i'm saying ;)

The only places that haven't gotten the greatest reviews here on the DIS is San Angel Inn in Mexico and Restaurant Marrakesh in Morocco. But everyone's different you know, so check out the menus at allears and wdwinfo.com! :thumbsup2

Ok so I talked with DBF and he wants to stay at Epcot for dinner because of the show there at night....um cant remember what it is...obviously I am more concerned about the food. lol

DBF was very happy you said Tutto Italia is good....your not helping my cause here though......I want Chefs..... but really either one does sound good to me. If we don't go to Chefs this time it's a must on the next trip whenever that might be. We live on the menus at allears. We have a pretty good idea what we will be getting at each place as long as it doesn't change to much!

Yes I have read a lot about the Dole whips. Now you can get those as a float too right? Which one do you think is better?

Signing on as well! We leave for our Deluxe dining adventure in 3 weeks and we have a lot of the same restaurants as you do! (Boma bfast, Narcoossees, Yachtsman, Wolfgang Pucks) :) I've never done a trip report, but maybe I'll try it.... As for dining suggestions - on our Epcot day we're going to have dinner at Flying Fish Cafe on the Boardwalk. That may be an option for you although it's another 2TS dining and I don't know how many credits you have left. Just an idea! :)

Ohhhh have fun on the trip! I looked at the weather today and it said it was 30 degrees.....its May, and its 30 degrees....I'm going to die in July.

You should do a review!, even a mini one. Maybe just some highlights of the trip if you don't think you will be able to do a full one.

Flying fish does look good, but right now I don't think we have enough credits to change a 1 credit to a two, but we do have some changes coming up. Might have to add that one to the reserved list for any future trips we go on.

Thanks for the suggestion though!

Have a great trip!

Coming up, how we ran into a bit of a problem, and we able to recover from it.

I started writing it tonight, but bed is calling and its time to answer. It will be posted tomorrow night!

Cheers!

Signing on, your trip sounds like it's going to be an incredible time with some amazing dinners.

I think you guys should make some changes to your ADR's though. I would suggest something like this

Sunday - Keep the Same 3 credits

Monday - Boma (breakfast
- Flame Tree BBQ (lunch, pay out of pocket)
- Jiko (Dinner) Total 3 credits

Tuesday - Teppan Edo (Lunch)
- Yachtman Steakhouse (dinner) Total 3 credits

Wednesday - Kona Cafe (Breakfast, Pay out of pocket)
- Flying Fish (Dinner) Total 2 credits

Thursday - SciFi (lunch)
- Citrosis - total 3 Credits

Friday - Ohana (Breakfast)
- Narcoossees (Dinner) total 3 credits

I believe that comes out to 17 credits which would leave you 1 extra for lunch on your last day at Wolfgang Pucks. I know that's alot of changes but I have the feeling that Jiko and Flying Fish would be better than the Aloha show and your DBF would be fine with giving up Tuttu Italia if he's getting to go to the Steakhouse that night, which should only be a short walk from Epcot. This also sets you up to go hang out at the Boardwalk on Wednesday night since that seems to be the only night that you aren't staying late at one of the parks.

Hope i could help :)

Oh to see Illuminations! :wizard: Yes it's so awesome! The music is amazing too!!

:rotfl: I'm sorry! Honestly, Chefs and Tutto are both really good! And you can catch Illuminations right after dinner which will be nice! Have you considered Rose and Crown? They have a deck seating area, so if you're lucky, you'll be able to have dinner outside AND watch Illuminations. According to the boards, that is the best seat in the house :thumbsup2 Have never been there, just because my DH didn't find the menu too appealing, but when we went to their counter service to try their fish and chips, he LOVED them! So i'm hoping next time we'll be able to do this!

Oh MAN! Dole Whips are sooo good! I think they do consider the Float as a snack too...I still prefer the whip over the float any day! But what the heck...why would you have to choose! Have one, one day, and the other, another day! Problem solved!

Tip: If you're running out of ideas for snacks, head over to Norway for School bread! Sooo good! I found out about it on the Dis, and it's bomb!

Look forward to your next installment!

Oh signing on!

If you're still looking for a restaurant around Epcot, maybe an early dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse, so you're back in Epcot in time for Illuminations, if your BF really wants a steakhouse, and can't get Le Cellier? It gets really good reviews - we're trying it this year!

Another option is Nine Dragons - we had an excellent meal there last year - excellent food and really good service. :goodvibes

Ya if her dbf is anything like me which I have a feeling he is I'm positive he'd be happy doing an early dinner at yachtmans.
Check my recommendations. I think your dbf would be happy doing the changes I've recommended.

Ps- I am her dbf lol
