I have a reservation booked through a TA for August, free dining is supposed to be released tomorrow and I am hoping to get it applied to my reservation and my TA knows this, we are booked at por and with having 5, we are thinking about upgrading to the cr but only if I can get the garden wing, I just sent my TA an email about this as I know to get garden wing it will probably be best to phone first thing in the morning, well I just got an automatic response saying she is out of the office until Friday May 7th, what do I do? do I wait until she gets back or do I phone myself in the morning and see if I can get the cr and make a new reservation and cancel with my TA? This is the first time I have used a TA and am not sure what to do.

Is there anyone else in her office that is covering for her?
If not, I would make a new reservation (which unfortunately will require a new $200 deposit) if you can and then cancel the other. With all the talk about limited availability at resorts, I wouldn't want to wait until Friday...especially because you have a specific resort in mind. You can always sign the paperwork to transfer the new reservation over to your TA if you want.

Do you have any money tied up with your TA other than the $200 deposit. Did she make plane tickets? I've never used a TA so I'm not sure what all you have on the line. If it's only the $200 that you could get credited back, then I would book tomorrow and not give it a second thought. Also, has she already booked dining reservations for you? Hoping it all works out!

The only money she has of mine is my $200 deposit plus my deposit for our cruise which I will keep with her. My dining reservations I made myself so they are all ok. I hate canceling on her but I also want to get the resort I want, waiting 5 days could mean not getting that so I think I will go ahead and phone and make a new reservation. She had left the name of another agent and I emailed her and she told me she has too many of her own clients to switch over to free dining tomorrow and to just do it myself and cancel the reservation with my TA so that is what I plan on doing.

Can you contact the TA's office and see if anybody is looking after her clients whist she is away? Surely there is.

you could always make the new one yourself then have you ta take it over when she gets back. Then she can cancel the original one and take over the new one.

I did contact the TA she left in charge when she is gone and that TA told me she has too many of her own clients to look after and for me to book it myself and cancel the one with my own TA, I was kind of surprised at this but that is what I will do in the morning.

Oh how annoying! I mean I understand that the other TA does have her own clients to look after and if I was one of her clients I would hope that she would look after me before taking on somebody elses client, but really, how does that help you or all of your TA's clients who are needing their bookings looked after tomorrow, not on Friday (or whenever she is back). I don't think that's good enough personally and I would be booking myself as you have decided and also emailing the company who the TA works for saying that it really is not good enough. It's fine for the TA to go on leave, nobody knew exactly when Disney was going to bring out their specials but there should be somebody available to look after his/her clients and the company should know that the TA who has been assigned his/her clients is not actually doing anything for his/her clients.

I just had the same thing with my TA (but not my wonderful Disney TA, its my regular TA in Australia doing my flights etc). I just emailed her with some info to book our flights in the USA when we are there and she emailed back saying she went on leave the next day and was too busy to start new bookings and to do it myself or wait until she returns in a couple of weeks  Well it's not a completely new booking, she has already done our flight from Aust to USA, I just need to add domestic flights to that booking. :confused3 So I am just going to do it myself.

Good luck tomorrow and I hope that you get the rooms that you are wanting. My wonderful TA will be adding the free dining to my current ressie tomorrow morning (as long as it is released tomorrow) :cool1:

wow aussietraveleer, that must be one long flight for your family coming from Australia, how long of a travel day is that for you guys?

Flying time is about 19-20 hours, then travel time too and from airport, wait time at airports, changing planes etc (like in LAX, there are no direct flight from Australia to Orlando or New York, they all go through LA) that adds about another 7 hours maybe more if the stopover in LA is longer than 2 hours. So usually about 27 or so hours from door to door. Travelling to Europe for us is about 24hrs flying time, so door to door is often about 32 hours.

Not as bad as when we went to WDW last time. We arrived at LAX off our 14 hour flight from Australia at 7am only to be told that our flight from LAX to Orlando was cancelled, well the flight from LAX for Dallas FW was ok but the flight from DFW to Orlando was cancelled with nothing for another 5 days :eek::eek: So they would not let us on the first flight as we would have been stuck there. There was a problem with some M80 plane or something and they were grounded nation wide so there were lots of displaced people. We were then put onto a flight to NY that night so had a very long wait at LAX for the day, but AA were wonderful and did give us a room at the Hilton for the day and lunch and dinner voucher :grouphug: to AA :rotfl: So we we went to the hotel, had showers and lunch before heading back to the airport, by the time we got to the hotel after retrieving our bags that had been checked right through and AA finding us flights to get to Orlando it too a while so we didn't have that much time at the hotel but it was still very nice to be able to relax for a few hours, back at the airport we found that flight to NY had been delayed for a few hours. So there we sat again. The flight eventually left for NY and when we got to NY we had to run to the sky train or monorail thing to another terminal and AA had put us on a Delta flight from NY to Orlando and that was boarding already so we literally just ran from one flight straight onto the other. Then arriving in Orlando to find our luggage hadn't made the delta flight but magical express were wonderful and took care of that for us.

Long story short, we arrived at AKL with a grand total of 42 hours travel time  Now that was the longest travel time we have ever done and we were exhausted! and lost a day of our trip as we were due to check in the day before but instead were flying around the country trying to get to WDW :lmao: Luckily we were there for three weeks so we had plenty of time to settle into WDW and enjoy our vacation.

And this is a PERFECT example of why people traveling from overseas are offered fabulous discounts from Disney! :)

Ok I am tired just reading your travel times. Just to let everyone know I went online this morning and booked the Contemporary resort and got Garden wing Garden view which is one of the cheaper rooms, glad I didn't wait for my TA as I went back on a few minutes later to check different prices and not 2 minutes after making my intial reservation there were no Garden wing rooms showing up for my dates so I am so glad I snagged one. Now hopfully nothing happens because until my TA gets back on Friday I have 2 different reservations for the same dates, will that be a problem?

Wow.. that is some crappy service right there.. When your TA asks why you cancelled make sure you tell her how good the one 'covering' for her was.

Nah.. shouldn't be that big of a deal.. Call Miss "Covering" tomorrow and tell her to cancel your old reservation.
