What is up with the buns?

they are a wheat bun now and they fall apart VERY easy.
Love whole grain bread but not on dogs and burgers. Imho what is used now is absolutely terrible. The buns are not fun. There has not been one time I have not went into Casey's and the bun has not split and broken into pieces. Can understand trying to provide a healthier product but there has got to be a better bun.

My son doesn't normally go for the wheat bread when we are at home. I never mentioned to him that the buns were changed. He never noticed and we had no problems with them. We have only had hamburgers though, can't comment on the falling apart Hot Dog buns. :goodvibes

And the sad thing is they are really not any healthier than plain white buns, they are made from bleached enriched wheat flour and contain HFCS, so really there is no difference.

I said this before and I will say it again. I don't know why we can not choose between a white bun and a wheat bun when ordering a Cheeseburger or a Hot Dog, because it seems obvious more people like the white buns and if others want a wheat bun all they do is ask for it.

Disney doesn't care what you like - the current management wants to appear that they care about your health.

It's funny that they choose buns to be the food police with. It's not like most of the food offerings are super healthy. Look at the kids menus for Pete's sake.

Mental Note: Not hot dogs or burgers for my 4 year old. She tends to melt down when her buns break or split.

Look at the kids menus for Pete's sake.

A couple of years ago Disney changed all the kids menus. All grilled chicken (no fried nuggets), raw vegetables, chicken pita pizza (there was a lot of discussion about how kids won't eat chicken on pizza and didn't understand why their crust was different), desserts were either apples, yogurt or sugar free jello. Those menus got changed back to macaroni and cheese and chicken nuggets with cookies, ice cream and pudding added for desserts pretty quickly.

I suppose guests are swallowing the buns more readily than they swallowed that.

Maybe they should offer both!! My issue is not so much the calories of the kids meals. It's more the fact that they are mostly processed foods. I would much prefer all the restaurants offer kids portions of adult meals. Steak, salmon, real chicken. My 4 year old shocks servers when she passes on fries for a baked potato and then eats every bite

Just a few kids entrees that were not made in a factory or dumped out of a box would be great.

(I am doing a LOT of buffets and it's because of the kids menus)

As long as the kids' DDP is as inexpensive as it is, you're not going to see child versions of adult meals.

I second your mental note. My 3 year old son would have that same melt down.

For the past 2-3 years, my now 9yo DD has hated kids menus everywhere. She wants the grown-up stuff. That makes WDW dining expensive for us, lol. But, we usually split something at a counter service since the portions can be very large.
