We are planning a big family vacation this Oct. We have a Grand Villa already booked at BLT for the 10 of us. We are wanting to take the kids to Chef Mickeys. I read where not all the characters make the rounds to all the tables. Is this true? I would hate to pay for this and not have at least Mickey make an appearance at our table. There are four little ones in our group and I do not know how they would feel if they could not at least meet him...smjj

The last time I went to Chef Mickey's which was for dinner all the characters came to our table. The time before that they had Donald standing out in the waiting area, so that's where you would go to take pictures with him.

where'd you see that? Unless they have made some big change recently that's not the way it was. When we were there, all the characters visited all the tables (including Mickey) and even went to tables like ours which was just two adults. The characters of course spent more time at tables with kids.

Could be some random missed-a-few-tables occurence you were reading about? Or maybe someone finished before all the characters made it all the way around the room. That I've read about...where people have to wait for a character to get around after they've finished eating. But have not seen any widespread reports of characters not going to all tables. They'd have a hard time selling the character meals if the characters did not make the appearances., lol

Generally, about once every hour, the characters make the rounds through all the tables. Usually Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, & Goofy are there and on occassion, Donald. Chip & Dale have also appeared in the past.

What I have seen happen is when the character goes back for a quick 'break' (relief), the new replacement may take back up at the wrong table. It is the responsibility of the CM guide to put him or her in the right spot. Also, if you are not at the table when they come by (like if you are up getting food), they don't come back & you will have to wait until they come back again.

Don't be bashfull if they accidentally skip you, just say something to the CM guide.

You can watch their route and judge when would be the best time to make a dash for some food.

We went for supper and breakfast at Chef Mickey's in January. Both times all the characters visited the table and they were terrific. Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy and Donald are the reason to visit, the food was  There was a small statue of Chef Mickey which you could get your picture taken. Kind of cute, we bought the photo package both times. We couldn't resist, the photo was great :thumbsup2

Oh I hope not, we have ADRs there in September and are looking forward to seeing Mickey and the gang there. This is our first time eating breakfast here, had dinner a couple of years ago.

We were there about 3 weeks ago and Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto all came to every table. You could even see the "pattern" they follow in general. They do stop at some point to do a little dance but then they will go back to where they were when they stopped.

Do not worry, there is a cast member whose job it is to ensure that the characters visit each and every table -- I usually ask our server what the "pattern" is and they will tell you which direction the characters will follow so that you will know which tables are before you. This helps to judge timing of getting food from the buffet! Now I will tell you that if part of your party happens to be away from the table when the character comes by they will miss it, the characters can't come back by for a missed person. But this is fairly easy to avoid by observing the character pattern and making trips to the buffet between characters.
We've never been for lunch or supper but breakfast is good, standard Disney fare! Just went last Friday and saw all of the Fab 5!

I actually read this in a review here on the DIS. It did state this was a busy time and the restaurant rooms were all packed. I am glad to hear that this is a rare happening. We will have 4 small ones with us but the adults, us included get just as much of a kick out of the fab 5 as I think the kids do. The last time we went was when our kids were the small ones. Now they are the parents and their kids are the small ones. Three generations on this trip and I can't wait....smjj

We ate there over spring break. The place was full, but the all fab 5 came to our table(10 people, 4 kids) and gave us plenty of time. The food was good, but the check, wow:scared1:

Chef Mickey's breakfast is a favorite of ours - we have eaten there each September for the past 3 years. The characters are Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy & Pluto - and we have seen all 5 of them each time.
