My family is coming the week of June 20 and I was wondering how the water tastes. I have bought some water bottles to be filled up at the water fountain.

It tastes different to me (I'm from NY) but I'm usually so hot when I'm there it doesn't bother me too much. You get used to it within a day or two. Many people bring the powdered mix-ins to add to mask the taste.

Most people will say its very bad. Some will say the water at WDW is generally undrinkable. Very few say they don't have a problem at all (don't trust them must be aliens).

For me worst water I ever tasted.

The brita pitcher we took didn't help. We had to run it through another carbon filter designed for backpacking to get the taste out.

:rotfl2: that was the funniest thing I have read all night!

I bring a reusable bottle with me, and ask for cups of ice water at CS restaurants (you don't even have to buy anything or even wait in line!). You can fill your water bottle with these cups of water!

If there's a line at the CS restaurant, bypass the line and go to where you pick up your food. You can ask those folks for a cup of water. Works like a charm!

Water tastes awful in Florida - North, South, Central, doesn't matter. Florida is basically one giant limestone slab and the water percolates up through it in natural aquifers. The limestone gives the water a sulpher smell and taste. We live here and we only drink bottled water.

Taking the individual packets of powdered drink mixes works for a lot of people; just make sure it's a flavor you don't mind drinking at room tempurature (or warmer).

Im sorry but no amount of powdered mix in can mask that vile taste...just remembering it makes me shudder. I also didnt care for the iced water they gave you at the counters in Disney ..they just take tap water and filter it and that yukky taste is still there ..thirsty or not I always just buy the bottled water. Im on vacation and where water is concerned to heck with the budget;) (shuddering again thinking about it...ewwwwww)

If you have access to a car or can stop at a grocery store before getting to the world, you can buy bottled water much, MUCH cheaper offsite (there are things I pay good money for, there are things that annoy me, water mark-up is one of them) Disney will not hassle you about it entering the parks or anything.
They had Dasani available on my last trip, but it was much more cost effective to buy a case at the grocery store and throw it on top of the luggage cart, with some gallon bottles for the room (I was raised on the water here, but don't like hotel room tap. Its not Disney, its me)

Clearly, I'm the crazy one, but, for the most part, I don't mind WDW water that much. And I live in the region of the country with the top rated drinking water in the country for several of the past ten years!

I will say, though, the water fountains over by Peter Pan and it's a small world are THE worst fountains at WDW. I think those pipes must be so old that you get a strong metallic taste on top of Florida water taste!

I wonder if they clean their ice machines, though? Not many restaurants do :sad2:

, I wonder if they do too? Some don't clean their ice bin/machines and you would be disgusted if you saw all the mold and mildew in it . Since this is WDW we are talking about, I am sure that they would have to be required to make sure that it was sanitized to get clearance that it would not cause anyone to get sick.:scared:
