My husband has Sirius until April 28th. What is the best deal I can get and how do I find it to renew his subscription?
Thanks so much

If they haven't sent you a bill, they will. Or call them and negotiate. I didn't renew mine but they were dealing. He offered as low as $6/mos for 6 mos. I just decided I didn't need it...at any price.

My husband drives an hour to and from work every single day. I don't really want to pay for it. But he loves it and given the amount of driving he does, he deserves it!

I also got the $6 per month for six months deal. When they call you up near the end of the trial period, keep "trying to cancel" until they get down to whatever you think it's worth.

Speaking of Sirius, I love listening to Orlando traffic and weather and pretending that I'm at Disney!

The best deals are the multi-month/year deals (versus month-to-month). Otherwise, I imagine you could negotiate something with one of the telephone reps...

Advise on what to say to get them to lower the price? Thanks a bunch. I am HORRIBLE at haggling

When I called to renew, I got the "$500 for the life of your car" deal. Sure, it's a lot up front, but the car was 6 months old, and I plan to keep it until it's fallen apart. Obviously, this won't work on an older vehicle.

For DH, they gave me a good deal, but I don't remember what it was. he has a long commute, too, and we live in an area with crappy radio reception and stations.

We had XM but after the merge with Sirius we decided we didn't like it or need it anymore since they went up. They also didn't send us a bill. Good thing I knew when it was due. We canceled and bought an Ipod Shuffle so we can play whatever we want. It's a cheaper alternative.

We didn't try to get a good deal or anything. We bought a new used car (if that makes to anyone) and it still had three months on the six months free. When it was up we lasted one day with local radio, before calling and renewing. If you had local radio as bad as ours you would understand that there is no going back. We have Sync and use the ipods with in the car sometimes but Sirius is a better fit for us. Our price is $15.98 a month including taxes.:)

When my subscription was nearing the end, I received an offer that included several options up to 2 years that totalled around $280 w/taxes. I didn't renew and then received an offer for a 6-month extension for $4.99 +taxes per month. I still didn't renew. Wondering if they will send anything else.

My husband's subscription is up next month. I'm hoping they'll send us a special offer to reduce the price.

I let my XM subscription lapse after the free trial and got better and better offers every few weeks. I finally took a 2 year offer. They now have lifetime subscriptions for $399 (plus music royalty fee of about $60). If you are currently in an existing plan, you can have it prorated and apply the balance to the lifetime subscription.

You can transfer the subscription up to 3 times for $75. This is for those who fear the radio breaking, selling the car, etc. would eliminate their service.

Be careful about expiring contracts. My contract was auto renewed at an insane monthly rate for 3 years. They charged my credit card too, despite it being my older card and with only my previous address on file. It was cheaper to get lifetime.

I purchased the lifetime subscription in April of 2008. I didn't get charged a music royalty fee. I haven't used any of my transfers yet. I have a "after market" unit that I can use in my house and in our boat.

I have had a Sirius subscription since November of 2003. I plan to keep it as long as I can. I'll re-evaluate after I've used my 3 lifetime transfers and see what they will charge me to keep it at that time.

If you plan to keep it more than 2 or 3 years, the lifetime plan is the way to go!

Mine expired right after Xmas. I called and said, "I got gift cards for Xmas in the amount of $75, what can you do for me?" And the guy gave me a year! Definitely negotiate!!

i'm on the xm $77/yearr plan right now

just tell them you are not renewing and they will deal with you

Ditto on the $77/yr. Previous posters are right -- you pretty much have to just say you're cancelling. When our $77/yr special was up last year, DH called and tried to tell the lady that was the deal we wanted to renew. She hemmed and hawed, put us on hold to "talk to someone about it," came back and said they couldn't do it. So DH said, "okay, then I'd like to cancel." She told us she'd have to transfer us to another representative to handle that. As soon as that rep came on and we said we were cancelling, she offered us the $77/yr deal :rotfl: So silly...

get them to transfer you to the retention dept...I just renewed mine last week.
I rec'd a bill for 6 mo for $92. :lmao:
I called and asked for a better deal or i'd cancel the service. They offered me 5 mo for $24 taxes incl. :goodvibes
The girl told me to call back in near the end of my 5 mo to renew the deal. I love having Sirius, but I don't need it.
Good Luck bartering w/ them... :goodvibes

We got 6 months free with our new truck. Near the end of the 6 months we were getting post cards in the mail to renew. They started with the full price ($15/month). Then they dropped to $5/month for the first 6 months, $15/month for 6 more months. Then $5/month for 3 months as long as you double the contract length and pay full price the remaining 3 months.
Then I started getting phone calls. We had let our sirius lapse for about 10 days when we got a sweet deal.
We got offered $5/month for 6 months, but no automatic renewal required. I asked how much it will be after that and he told me $15/month is the normal price, but I would never actually have to pay that because there are always deals to be had. So in 6 months I will try calling them to see what they can offer me. If it isn't a good deal, I will just cancel.

Moral of the story, they will contact you with deals. They want your business worse than you want their business. Or when you call just tell them you want to cancel and see what offers they give you.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the posts about lowering the Sirius renewal price. We got lucky, because we no longer have the credit card that was attached to my husband's account, and they couldn't auto renewal it. They called, and I asked if they had any promotions or special rates we could get. We wound up getting one year for $77. It was very easy to do and saved us tons of money.

Thank you again! These boards are great.
