We are going to WDW with my parents and my wife's parents. Has anyone ever bought park tickets on eBay?

Any pointers?

Thanks!

I've heard of success stories from buying tickets on E-Bay, but I've also heard of failures, where they got to the park with the tickets only to find that there are no days left.

It's not a chance I would be willing to take. You have no way of checking if there are any days left before you buy the ticket or even get to the parks.

Huge risk, IMO.

And not only "are there any days left" but if there are, can you even get to use them since the tickets are tied to the biometrics of the first person that used them. Way too easy to be scammed.

Use one of the Disney authorized ticket sellers that discount - Undercover Tourist, Maple Leaf Tickets, etc.

Ive bought them before on ebay (single day tickets) with success, but I don't think I would buy a mutiday pass that way. I'm not convinced that all sellers understand how they work (finger scan, expiration, etc. )

Don't do it. It could be a big mistake. Sure, the seller could have great feedback, but that may mean nothing if you get to Disney & the tickets don't work. Instead, I highly recommend using a ticket broker, especially Undercover Tourist. I've been buying my tickets from them for years--never had a single problem yet. Fast delivery, great prices.

I see no benefit to buying your tickets on ebay and you are taking a huge risk that they will even be valid when you get there. And if they aren't, you have no recourse with Disney, as it plainly states that tickets are non-transferable. Just go to mousesavers and sign up for the free newsletter that will get you the link to an additional discount from undercovertourist. No hassle and no worries!

Smmple answer IMHO, NO, don't take a chance, not worth it.
Use Undercover Tourist thru the Mousesavers LINK and save money, using a reputable company. I have heard of HORROR stories, and IMHO, it is not worth the risk....especially in this economy, everyone is trying to make a quick buck and will RIP you off faster than you can shout Help Mickey!
Good Luck....

I'm all for saving a buck, or lots of bucks. I would not be willing to risk it on Ebay. For reasons as posted by PP, it would be one thing to receive the tickets at home and find out they were bogus. But you can't even find out until you are at the turnstile. If they ended up being bad there, not only would you know you were ripped off, but you would have to march up to the ticket window and pay full gate prices. That would totally ruin my vacation. I wouldn't be able to think about one other thing the entire trip.

I have used Undercover Tourist and gotten good deals. If you sign up for the Mousesavers news letter, which comes out on the 15th, they always have a link to UT which will get you an even better discount. You have to use that link, though. The newsletter is free.

2nd that. I did this and am real happy I did. Got a good deal compared to some other sites.

Someone else mentioned fast shipping. I'll say. We're not going until October. Ordered our tickets last month. I ordered in the morning and by the afternoon, they were already shipped out to me. Got them 3 days later on standard shipping. Like many others, I wouldn't trust E-Bay for tickets.

I agree with what others have said. Personally, I bought single day tickets several times (for Halloween and Christmas Party and then 1 day hoppers) and have had good luck with them being legit but I was taking a risk!! Perhaps you could send a message to the seller to communicate more by either e-mail or phone - I did for one transaction and that really made me feel better about the deal. :cool2:

Last week I had a family come to my ticket window to add WPF&M to three tickets. They were fully used three day tickets. It turned out they bought them at a place on US192. I expalined to them that they had been sold fully used tickets.

Being nice to them I did not confiscate the tickets but stamped them "VOID" and entered in the ticketing system that they were fully used and sold on 192, so no-one could go to another window to try to add days.

I then sold them legitimate tickets and suggested they try to recover the money they had paid from the seller. If I had confiscated and destroyed the tickets they could not have tried for a refund.

Not only is there a risk that the tickets will be not be valid, but when one purchases tickets via eBay or other unauthorized channels, that contributes to fraud that makes Disney tickets more expensive for everybody else.

I agree with everyone else, EBAY is too much of a risk for tickets. UT sells them, if you have an entertainment book, they have a good deal on Park Hoppers for 6 days and AAA also sells them (not sure if they are discounted or not.) Try to save somewhere else, this board has lots of good money saving tips.

Have a great vacation!

Anyone have any info on the "save up to 50%" coupon sales on Ebay? Its only a couple of dollars so not much loss if they don't work.

Probably a catch of some sort, but the auctions seem pretty clear.

Very simple. The operative words are "up to", which may be as little as 1%.

Best deal on tickets right now. There are a few people selling coupons for $8-10 bucks on ebay. You will get an excellent deal buying directly from disney. I just saved $270 on 4 7 day hoppers with water & more option. Great deal.
