The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

I'm loving this thread too.
The only way I can wear it comfortably is to switch shoulders and wear it on the front. Yeah, well, only one problem with that? It makes me look like a hugely pregnant kangaroo. Not exactly the look I want. lol

Long story short...this pooh sized gal is back to her old trusty, rusty, ratty backpack (until I can find something else). :)

:rotfl2:
LOVING this thread! I am just over 5'1", on my tall days, and usually wear a size 18. So that makes me look like I'm a 24 probably, since I'm so short. :rolleyes1 I do like to wear bigger shirts, though, & I'm having a really hard time with the swimsuit issue! Thanks to all the websites, I may just find one I like. Still looking for the perfect park bag, though. I'm leaning towards the overland donner, though, because I need it to be big enough to carry my DSLR!

I get my cargo shorts in the Big and Tall men's department at JC Penny's. But my clothes run on the boyish side, so I don't know if that will go for everyone.

.

I've had good luck on Cargo shorts in the big men's section @ K-Mart. I'm 5' 4" so they usually end up being just the right length for me. (I like them right above my knees)

I always take my fanny pack when I go. I got mine at Walmart for $9. I think it fits a waist up to 72#. My local Walmart always has them in stock; by the backpacks and purses.

I bought a fanny pack @ Pop and it fits fine. I'm 5'4" and 275 pounds with most of my weight around the middle. Never had a problem with the pack.

I am having a HUGE problem finding the right bag to take. I have been going with a back pack because it's just been easier to find that would fit. All of the messenger style cross body bags have been toooo small. Not enough strap. I'm a size 24 and substantial up top. Ant suggestions on what you all have found?

I actually have a Coach flat bag... It's one of the better ones so it's actually waterproof and has tons of pockets... Youd be surprised at how much I can actually fit in there... But Im traveling with my kiddies so I need a bad big enough to carry everyone stuff so for that I actualy just use a backpack...

I really want some cargo pants or shorts for our trip in may, but can't seem to find any. if anyone has some plus sized suggestions on where to look, I would appreciate it.

thanks

I've never owned a pair of Cargos before but had an awesome coupon at Lane Bryant and found a really comfy pair... And then when I grabbed my normal size it was too big so I had to grab the next size smaller... Total Shocker :scared1: LOL But I normally shop at both Lane Bryant and Torrid for my clothes... I find things once in a while at Burlington and AJWright but everything is soo messy which makes it basicaly not shopable... Hit or Miss... But for my shoes I actually just got a pair of Nike Shox... And these are by far the comfyest pair I've ever had... They are white and Sparkely so the Hubby was good!! Im still in need of a pair of flops... Last trip I use a pair of nike thong sandals they were really good but they were not waterproof... This was terrible when traveling during the Summer Season with the daily TStorms... But I'll keep ya posted... I just got the kiddies all set... I'll be shopping for myself within the next 3 weeks!

Anyone have suggestions on where to find plus-size Disney tees? DH and I are both Pooh sized, and I was disappointed with the limited selection at the Disney store site. DH is a 4x (6'2'' and about 325), and I am a 22/3X womens or 2X unisex (5'6'', 220 pounds, 44G chest). I'd like to find a few before we go down in November.

Also, where is the best spot to find them in the parks?

I've seen some plus size Disney stuff at my local Wal-Mart, but I don't recall if it was just hoodies or if they had t-shirts as well. I've had better luck with that in-store as opposed to online.

As for in the parks.... I honestly have no idea. I had some luck finding them at odd times (then again, I was a CM and would go in at the most random times or poke around in the shops on my way home from work), but the places I remember seeing them the most were at World of Disney at DTD and the big shop whose name I can't remember at MK (it's 4:30am and I'm still awake :crazy2:)

THE EMPORIUM! That's what it was. Blah.

I have a crossbody backpack that I wear in the parks. I got it at Shoe Carnival a few years ago, so I don't think the exact style is sold anymore, but I can take a picture of it if anyone wants to see. It's roomy enough to hold what I need, but still comfortable enough that I can wear it all day and not have a problem with it (I have some back issues from my job). Because it's crossbody, I can easily swing it around to my side or my front if I need something out of it. It's also only got one big compartment and one small compartment, so it's easy to open up for security.

As for shoes, I used to wear whatever I had with me, but I was also very used to being in the parks all day (yay MK custodial). When I go down in January, I'm likely to just bring a pair of gym shoes or two and a nice pair of flats for when we go out to dinner at the resorts. I hate Crocs with a passion, and would rather just bring well-broken in gym shoes. Plus, we're going in January and I'm not about to bring flip-flops or sandals when I know how the weather changes. The shoes I wear at work (and will likely bring to Disney) are just Champion running shoes from Target.

I have some Tee's that I had purchased from Disney Store that are the 2X size... I like the fit cause it's more of a girly tee... I also find Womens Disney Couture Tee's all over the place... From Torrid Again and I find them through Google and HotTopic which is also a division of Torrid so I find things more on their website not really in stores...

On our last trip in 08 I was surprised how many Women size shirts I found in the World... Saw basic ones at our Resorts Gift Shop but some of the better ones that I ran into were all at the Contemp. Gift Shop and again Total Shocker!! :scared1: Found a super cute white Minnie Mouse Sparkely Tee last year... I was basicaly covered in glitter the entire day I wore it though but it was a super comfy shirt! I would love to find another when we arrive... So I'll keep you ladies posted!!!

I am looking for a pair of shoes that would be comfortable for walking at WDW for a young man. Anyone have any ideas?

New Balance have worked great for me as a woman, but I have talked with many men who wear them who also think they are comfortable. I like the N.B. 600 from J.C. Penney $49.00 not on sale for womens.

A few weeks ago I checked out Disney store online clearance section had several lg size clothes on clearance. Men and womens.

Hello all. I come from a Pooh sized family.. (well except for my brother who is skinny as a rail. I don't know how tho) anywho, I like to wear Capri's at the parks. I don't like to off to much lef. I LOVE Just my size tank tops. They are the best! You can usually get them for 5-7.00 at Wal-Mart. I got my bathing suit at Fashion Bug and I like it.. It is a two piece but it is only enought that it covers everything nicely and the bottom are like shorts and the tops is a longer tank type.

I do hope to lose some weight before we go in november but we are getting Deluxe dinning. I sometime feel that this is going to be a bad thing as we eat alot and I don't want people to get "the look" that some people get when watching larger people eat. The "I Cant believe them" look. But there are some great places on the list and I hope it is fun.

The Design Your Own Tee's on zazzle.com come in Plus Sizes. Some of the Women's Cut tees go up to 3X and their value tee which is unisex goes up to 6X. They have a TON of cute designs to choose from. You do have to pay slightly more for some of the plus sizes though.

My husband wears Teva Terra-Fi's in the park and loves them.

I just bought a bunch of tunic length tees from avenue.com - just waiting for them to be delivered. I hope they fit the bill. I'll report back.

Okay, so how about a bra question? Men, shield your eyes, this ain't gonna be pretty.

I'm an underwire kind of gal normally, but the thought of having that rub up against me all day long in the trillion-degree heat just makes me groan. Any pooh-gals want to chime in on over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder choices for Disney? I'm thinking I'd like to go underwire-free or with a sports bra, but then again, I don't want the girls bouncing around, injuring small children, etc. I also wonder if a sports bra would be too hot, given the extra material. Also, I did just find a moisture-wicking bra (!) from Hanes. IIRC, it's a sports bra.

Insight warmly welcomed.

Wow, I love this thread, too!

One good thing about WDW is all the shady places to sit and rest when we need it. This is not only helpful for us Pooh-sized people, but also for those with physical limitations.

I wanted to share a link to a site that gives tips and info on ride seat sizes, seat types (bench, etc) as well as personal experiences being larger at WDW:

http://allears.net/tp/ridsiz.htm

Regarding bras, any time I know there is a chance I will sweat, I fold up paper towels and place one under each side of my bra band. You wouldn't believe what a difference this makes! Carry extra in your pouch, and replace as needed.

One last thing - Kohl's have sling purses with extra long straps. Most straps are removable and can be snapped onto the purse of your choice.

:rotfl2::lmao: Sorry, I couldn't resist because I can totally relate. I've often said "If I could just strap these suckers up on my shoulders I would not have any back pain."

I just wanted to report back that I received my purchases from Avenue and Old Navy.

I bought two pairs of cargo capris from Old Navy and they are great! They fit well, nice material..love them!

The Avenue purchase was not so successful. I bought 5 tops and 2 pairs of pajama separates. The pajamas are great. They are boxers with matching t-shirts..very cute. Of the 4 tops, 3 are going back. They are all t-shirts and the material is paper thin. It just doesn't feel like quality merchandise! I am now going to go with Land's End as they are having a 25% off plus free shipping sale until tomorrow night.

I also noticed that Just My Size had some adorable swimsuits on sale!

Question on the capris - the cargo material is cotton or a cotton blend, yes? Do you think you'll have any issues with chafing?

TMI alert - sorry, might be a bit of TMI coming here.

Over the last couple of months, I've developed some weird skin issue that makes me itch and is making my thighs chafe. I'm a bit afraid wearing a material stiffer than say, a cotton jersey, would be nothing but all-day discomfort. I do like Old Navy clothes, so if these don't have too much of a chafing problem, it sounds like an option I need to check out.

I checked and they are 100% cotton. I had a similar pair that I wore to WDW in 2008 (they were also Old Navy) and I had no issues with chafing. When I have had those kinds of problems in the past it was usually with shorts though, not capris.

I also recommend Body Glide if you have any concerns about that. It works great. I use it on my feet and never have issues with blisters. Just make sure to let it dry for about 10 minutes.

Hope that helps. :)
