Inquiring minds want to know! I thought I read it here on the DIS. Has anyone tried it?

I always wear trainers and my feet suffer quite a lot but i read somewhere to put vaseline(petroelum jelly) on your feet its worked really well for me no blisters or cracking of feet its a tip from marathon runners hope this works for you

It can help, however the best thing I've found is Wrights Double Layer Coolmax socks. Little pricey compared to normal run of the mill socks, but will def help

Thanks all! I do have a stick of body glide, and I was planning on picking up some specialty socks, but when i went into our sporting goods store, noone knew what I was talking about!

Hiya
Having lived in a place hotter than Hell (Texas) for 15 years now alot of my freinds gave me some tips on keeping cool. I know the original question was about preventing blisters but I just though I would pipe in with something. If your going to be there while its hot... I was always told whatever you do NEVER put deodorant on your feet. Your feet sweat for a reason and that is to cool your body down naturally. If you put deo on your feet they wont be able to sweat thus it make sit harder for your body to cool down. You can overheat very easily but doing this, especially if your out in the sun walking alot. The body glide works great but only apply it to the parts that will blister ie toes and back of heels only. I hope this helps..I was going with what my Texan friends advised me. Have a great vacation:goodvibes

Thanks for the replies. The danger of antiperspirant makes sense. We have carefully broken in all the shoes we are bringing but I thought it would be a serious drag to get a bunch of blisters anywat since we rarely walk more than 2 miles each day right now.

For years, I got blisters everytime I put on a pair of sneakers. I was convinced that I was buying the wrong shoes. I tried dozens of pricey athletic shoes and had the "experts" fit me and recommend shoes, but the blisters continued (always on my heels).

Then one day, I just mentioned this problem in passing to a friend who is a pretty avid runner. He said, change your socks. He turned me on to "running" socks. They have very little or NO cotton in them. It was a MIRACLE:worship:

I could wear athletic shoes like everyone else. NO MORE BLISTERS!

They're much more readily available now than 5 or 6 years ago. You can even find some in Wal-Mart now. Look for socks with nylon, rubber and lycra. And don't get socks that are too thick. The lightweight ones will protect your feet and keep them from getting too hot.

Thank you! I don't want blisters to ruin our first trip to Disney!

While I agree that avoiding the blisters is ideal, sometimes no matter what you do, it will happen anyway. As soon as you feel the potential of a blister, get a blister bandage on it! I had this problem in Vegas (lots of walking there, too). I had a blister that was completely crippling me. I put one of these on and it stopped hurting INSTANTLY. It stayed on (despite miles of walking in the same shoes that gave me the blister) for the last three days I was there.

I never leave home without them now. One blister can ruin a vacation.

The only exception to this is if it is in a place that is too small for one (I sometimes get them on the backs of my toes) then I use moleskin.

DH always gets blisters at WDW. We always take bodyglide (a real lifesaver) and moleskin. This past trip I bought the cool max socks for him, in addition to using bodyglide and he was blister-free all week! He didn't even need the moleskin!:cool1:

I couldn't find bodyglide where we live so I used solid stick anti-persperant and it worked great. I used it on two trips a couple of years apart but I only put it on the tops of my toes and the back of my heels which is where I tend to blister (I don't think I sweat too much in those areas ;)). It's cheap and I can buy a very small travel size one and use it just for feet. I also made sure I my shoes were broke in and that I had two pairs and switched them each day so I wasn't putting pressure on the same points every day.

I was just about to say the same thing. Don't put antiperspirant on your feet; they do sweat for a reason, and there are lots of other blister-blocking things you can use on your feet.

For those of you who can't find Body Glide, Band Aid brand now makes a friction block that works similarly-best of all it's sold in most stores right next to the band aids-I found mine at Target

YES! I usually wear body glide but ran out so I used the roll on deoderent was pleased to find out it worked for me. :)
