Has anyone had any luck trading into DVC using RCI? Any suggestions or tips on how to do this? I really want to do this hoping it would convince my husband we need DVC!! Thanks guys!!!

I've traded in twice via RCI Weeks (2BR BWV Jan-2010; 3BR SSR Oct-2010) and 5 times via II (2004-2008). Suggestions: Have a strong trader, use "online" searches to see if your week has sufficient strength to pull DVC; use "Ongoing Search" for specific dates/resorts; remain flexible in both date and resort.

I've had maybe 16-18 exchanges in mostly with RCI points but a couple with RCI weeks as well. The keys seem to be NOT having an Orlando week associated with your account in any way and looking for relatively off times like Jan, Feb, May, Sept, Oct, etc. Being able to accept a 1 BR instead of looking for a 2 BR and being willing to accept any DVC resort. Then for RCI points it's checking several times every day until you find what you want. For RCI weeks it's having an ongoing search with a week of sufficient trade power starting at about 1 year ahead or earlier and at least 11 months ahead.

It really depends on where you own. I own a week in Maui and was able to trade a studio for a 2BR at BWV 11 months out. There is an exclusion area where you cannot trade into DVC if you are trading an Orlando week. Do a search on your banked week and see if any of the Disney resorts come up. I pretty much had a pick of any week at any resort. Again, that was with Hawaii which has fantastic trading power. Good luck!

Thanks for the info guys, i'm glad to see that some have made it in! Well I have officially started an ongoing search with open resorts and about a month window. So we'll see what happens!

We're looking Oct. 15- Nov. 7 for checkin dates. We're stuck on the week long checkin which requires a Fri, Sat, Sun checkin. However, for a free location to stay (points from parents) there's no complaining on anything. I know it's a shot to try and get in but I can always get last min. off property so I figured why not go for it!

I was able to exchange a Red week for VWL the first week in Nov. :thumbsup2

FWIW, I don't currently see anything for your date range in RCI Weeks. The Oct weeks I can see have check-in dates for 10/2 or 10/3. The "Points" side may be different.

I sent them a PM, there were 2 BWV 2 BR units for 16 & 17 Oct earlier tonight.

It also depends when you deposit. My in-laws deposited a 2-Bdrm Shoulder Royal Palm Beach Club (St Maarten) a year ago, but deposited it about 3 months before the week. It did not see Disney (for that matter, it didn't even see any other RPBC deposits - it did see the Hilton's though). This year, they deposited the same week 12 months out and voila, there are the DVC's...

It matters even more so with RCI than it did with II.

Sweet! Thanks for posting the good news -- I hope they are able to book it.
I didn't hear back so I hope they got the info and the week. I don't know if they were looking for a 2 BR or had enough points for a 2 BR.

There's still one of those weeks there this morning so I'm hoping they got the other or get this one. Still, at 94,500 RCI points, a lot of people aren't going to have enough for a 2 BR, a high season week is 118,500.

Thanks, now we need to figure out where to have Christmas dinner, any suggestions?:santa:
Lots of Disney Restaurants will do a traditional dinner. Specific restaurant choices would vary whether it's lunch or dinner. For Dinner my first choice is Boatwrights at Port Orleans but we've been to Liberty Tree, Crystal Palace, and Rose and Crown for holidays.. Depending on the size of the group, you might consider one of the places that does a package meal like Publix, Cracker Barrel, etc.

Thanks for the information everyone. I was just going to check on those weeks tonight and they're down for maintenance argh! We are on a weekly plan so I'm not sure those weeks might just be for points trade in. Oh man these timeshares are confusing!
