Cross your heart we're going! Cross it!An Unexpected April Adventure! TR Started!!!!

:yay: for Mickey mail! And I can't believe you got your boys to watch Princess and the Frog! What is your secret? My boys won't have anything to do with princess movies, though I think they would love this one! Those prices for adding on extra days over four are great! It's like once you buy 4 days you might as well buy 10. I think they only add on $3 a day per ticket. Now if you remember my trip report from last summer you know my opinion on photopass. Love it! You can get shots of the whole family plus I love not having to worry about taking pictures at the Meet 'n Greets. You just let the photographer do it and enjoy the moment. Totally worth it.

Thanks!!:goodvibes I couldn't believe I got the boys to watch Princess and the Frog either!! It really surprised me when they agreed. It actually didn't seem like the typical Princess movie to me!:confused3 If you can talk them into it...I'm sure your boys would love it!;)

Thanks for posting your photopass pics!! Love them!! I remember seeing the balloon one and the stitch one on your TR and thought they were so cool!! So..quick question when we want one of those pictures--Do we just ask the photographer if they can do them and then tell them what we want? or do we have to go to specific locations to have them done? It seems like when I was reading about it on stitchkingdom.com that they mentioned that not all photopass photographers do those kinds of shots.:confused3

On our first trip, the photopass CD only had about 60 pictures on it. It didn't seem worth it to buy it so we just ended up purchasing one 5x7.

Last spring, I made it a point to use the PP photographers as much as possible. Plus..they were at the waterparks so I was able to get shots I never would have taken with my own camera. And I'll DITTO what Amy said....I get to be IN the photopass pictures which is a nice change!

I'd say if you can pre-order with a discount and have the option to cancel, do that. IF not, wait until you get home and see how many pics are on the card and if it's worth it to you to have them all. That's what we did. It seems like a lot of $, but if you even like 2 or 3 of the poses, it's more cost effective to buy the whole CD.

Thanks for sharing your photopass pics!! They turned out sooo good!! The AK one is too funny! I love that they have them at the waterparks too!! That's so cool! I think I'm definitely going to look into the pre-order discount!! But if I don't have the option to cancel when we get back..I may have to rethink it and like you said just wait until we get home.:confused3 It will definitely be nice to actually be in a few pictures this time!

There are specific photographers that do specific shots. Stitchkingdom is definitely your best resource for that. Sometimes you have to ask. I have tons of tink shots and I think I asked for most of them. I also asked for the Baby Simba shots. However the balloons and the Stitch the photographers offered the shots. Last summer we got the balloon shot in Epcot, MK and HS so obviously that one was pretty common. They tend to do them in front of the main park icon. Baby Simba is obviously in Animal Kingdom. We've gotten Tink in Magic Kingdom and in Epcot (both in front of the ball and in different World Showcase locations.) I've seen some shots of Stitch coming out of the ground that are done in HS. I may ask for that next trip because my boys would like it. I like to tell the photographer that I prebought the CD and then they usually aren't shy about taking lots of shots. Never hesitate to ask. Sometimes you'll get uninterested photographers, but more often than not they are more than happy to get something fun and different. (That is probably a much wordier answer than you were looking for:laughing:)

Good Morning!!! Before I start with my DHS plans..I must report that we only have 20 days until we leave!!:cheer2::yay::dance3::yay::cheer2:

Okay, now on with the planning!:thumbsup2

Thursday, April 15-- Day 4 Typhoon Lagoon and Disney Hollywood Studios!

As you know, I revised my schedule and Day 4 plans did change. Our original plan was to spend all day at MK on this day because it had EMH in the morning and although I know a lot of people avoid these days...we don't. You are able to get so much done in that first hour and since the boys are always up super early anyway we might as well be at a park. However...after we decided to add DHS, we knew that one of the things we wanted to see was Fantasmic. The week that we are going they are only showing it twice, once on Sunday night which we will miss since we are not arriving until Monday and once on Thursday night. So that meant we had to switch our MK day to the day before...which is okay with me...the sooner we can go to MK the better!:cloud9:

The New Day 4 Touring Plan!

Since this has now become our new waterpark day! We plan to sleep in or at least I do! We'll see how cooperative the boys are. We'll grab breakfast at Pop, maybe do a little browsing in the gift shop and then head for the Typhoon Lagoon bus. (I won't write up our whole TL plans again--for anyone who hasn't seen them you can see them here.)
Typoon Lagoon Plans!

We don't plan to spend the whole day in the waterpark although I'm sure it could easily be done. We are hoping to duck out in the early afternoon. So we can go back to the resort, change, rest and get ready for DHS. I'm so excited about this because we missed it last August.:sad2:and..honestly even though it may not have been the best experience in 2008 our April 2009 trip there more than made up for it!!!

Disney Hollywood Studios Plans!

-Arrive at park (hopefully) around 3:30pm at the latest.
-We're thinking of heading straight toward Star Tours (use FP)
-Early dinner at Backlot Express. Still not sure about this? We usually eat at Pizza Planet but we want a change this time or at least DH does...so we're considering Backlot. How is the food there? Any better CS suggestions?
-After dinner head toward TSM. (use FP) we may ride twice??
-Head to Animation Building for Meet and Greet with UP characters!! Okay..I think I'm more excited about this than the boys!! Loved that movie! -Head toward Sunset Blvd. to try and catch Beauty and the Beast. It's one of the things we missed on our last couple trips and surprisingly the boys have agreed to it! (just not the Little Mermaid:rolleyes:not yet anyway)
-TOT (just me and Noah) Nick says that although he loves Splash Mountain he hates that falling feeling he gets in his stomach so he's opting out. I must admit...I'm a little nervous--it's a first for me.:scared1:
-RNRC??? Please tell me about this ride? Nick again refuses to ride and DH does not like these kinds of rides. But Noah wants to ride. He's 7 what do you think? I heard it can be very intense...of course that makes me nervous.
-Lastly, grab some snacks and head for Fantasmic. My plan is to head there around 7:00pm because I heard that in order to get a seat you need to be there 60-90 minutes early. Is this still a good idea? Crowd levels are predicted to be a 6 on that day..if that makes a difference. The reason I ask is because I also read in my Mousejunkies book that arriving later might not be a bad thing because the later you are the more likely you will be to sit in the back and to the right of the theater and you will be closer to the exit when it's time to leave. Then again, I don't want to end up standing either?? I think I'll stick with my original plan...early is probably better..right?

Oh if we have time...we may try The Great Movie Ride??? DH has been wanting to see it. I'm not so sure the boys would...it takes them awhile to warm up to anything even a little scary- ex. haunted mansion. So we'll see.

What we are skipping--

Indiana Jones--no reason, I just don't think we will have time.
Muppet 3D- We like the show but we saw it last year and we'll hopefully see our favorite Muppets before the parade in MK.
HISTKP--cute playground but we'd rather explore more of the park since our time is limited.
Lights Motor Action.:sad2: (one of our favorites but...last show is usually around 4:00. I don't want to be rushing when we first get there.)
Backlot Tour--we saw it last trip....it takes a long time.
Playhouse Disney--Cute but the boys are getting older.
Little Mermaid--Not enough time and I don't think I can convince the boys?
One Man's Dream--Next time hopefully!

There's the plans...what do you think?? Any suggestions?:flower3:

I'll definitely have to watch Princess & the Frog before we leave for the world! your plans look great! I myself am debating which waterpark to go to! My boyfriend is a fish, he LLLOOOVVESS the water, so I can see us easily spending the whole day there. I'm not sure which one we'll hit up. I've been to BB but that was a lllooonnggg time ago. I think BB has more thrill rides? I'm not sure! You'll have to let me know how TL is!

Meeting the UP characters sounds sooo exciting! I love that movie also! So Cute! Gotta put that on my to-do list. As for RNRC, i went when I was a sophomore in high school and I have to say it was pretty intense. I loved it though!

I don't have any advice on Fantasmic! I haven't seen it yet but I have the Fantasmic! Dining Package. I'm still debating if I want to cancel or keep that ADR? I like it because it saves some time but the ADR is at Hollywood & Vine. I was hoping for Mama Melrose but they don't have any.

Well, your plans look great!! Your vacation is coming up fast!! So exciting!

Plans look good! Are you planning to use your GAD fastpass for TSM?? I forgot you had those and was going to caution you that fastpasses would probably be gone by 4:00....but never mind! ;)

I'd say earlier is better for Fantasmic. Although we were closer to the exit in the Standing Room Only section, it was hard to see the things going on in the water at the front of the "stage" and also standing for that long was tiring!

We ate at Backlot Express last year and enjoyed it. It's right next to the Indiana Jones theater so you can hear some of the explosions etc going on in there...kind of cool. We just got burgers and chicken nuggets, but I had no complaints.

Those GAD fastpasses are really going to come in handy on this day:goodvibes Initially when I read your plans I thought no way she is going to get that all done in 3 hours, but with the fastpasses I think you just might:goodvibes I don't have any advice on counter service because we've always eaten at Pizza Planet too, but I want a change so I can't wait to hear your report about somewhere else. And I've also never seen Fantasmic at Disney World (only in Disneyland) so no help there either. Looks like a super fun day:thumbsup2

Busy day! Your plan of attack sounds good, and you're definately getting good use out of those fast passes.

The Backlot Express is where we've gone each year for lunch before Pizza Planet and DH prefers it. It has the standard burgers, etc and was a little quieter for us then other CS places. :thumbsup2

The Meet and Greet with the Up characters.... we haven't been, is it time consuming in the lineups? Beauty and the Beast.... :goodvibes

The ToT is very thrilling! You'll love it! The RnRC is very fast, very loud, goes upside down and has twisty turns..... it's one of our favorites! If you go, keep your head pressed back into the headrest or it'll bop around and you could get a headache. :headache:

For Fantasmic we use Ariana's GAC to avoid the crowds and get there about 30 minutes before showtime ... The seating area is in the top right of the arena and yes we are close to the exit when we leave. It is a welcome perk.

The Great Movie Ride I don't remember as being scary except for maybe the alien scene ... the skit does involve a mock shoot out that you can warn them about it you think it might freak them out....

Your plans look great! :thumbsup2 As the others have said, those GAD FPs are going to be perfect this day! :cool1:

I'm curious what others think about Fantasmic too... we may or may not go but the boys definitely won't be able to sit for 90 minutes to wait! I'm hoping 45 minutes will be OK. I think our week will be a little quieter than yours but not sure. :confused3 I don't subscribe to touringplans and the free crowd charts aren't out yet for our week. According to Tour Guide Mike your week is a 4 out of 5 and my week is a 3 out of 5. :confused3

There is a new CS location but for the life of me I can't think of the name at the moment but I've heard good things about it (on Winkers and Englishrosie's TR's). The plans look good!

No..it's great!!:goodvibes Thanks so much for all the information!! I've heard that if you mention that you prebought the CD they will take more pictures. So, I'll probably do that. If I remember right when we had a few pics taken last year at MK, they asked if we wanted the Tink shot and that was great because at the time I didn't really know too much about photopass. This year I'm definitely more prepared!! Thanks again!:thumbsup2

We were the same way for the longest time...debating between which waterpark to go to. :confused3 We finally decided on TL because it seems more family friendly to us. I think you're right...it does seem like BB has more thrill rides and I'm not quite sure the boys are ready for them yet.;)

I know...wasn't UP such a great movie?? Loved it!! We actually just watched it again the other day. I'm very excited to meet the characters!!:woohoo:

I've heard great things about the Fantasmic Dining Package!! It will definitely cut down on having to get there so early!

Thanks Missy!:goodvibes Yup, we'll definitely be using the GAD fastpasses for TSM!

I really don't want to stand for Fantasmic....so we'll probably go ahead and get there early. I'll probably bring something along for the boys to keep them occupied.

Glad to see that you like Backlot Express!! Ooohh..I didn't realize it was next to the Indiana Jones theater. The boys will really love being able to hear the explosions from the show.

Those fastpasses are going to come in sooo handy, without them I doubt we'd even be able to get half the things done that we want to do. :)

Glad to hear another good review for Backlot Express..especially that it's a quieter CS place. Love Toy Story Pizza Planet..but I'm not sure I would say it was quiet.:rolleyes1 So I think we will enjoy the change!!

Last April we did the Meet and Greet with the characters from Bolt and we didn't find it too time consuming. It might have taken about 15 minutes or so.:confused3

Hmm....the headache part is what worries me on RNRC. I'm not sure Noah would realize to keep his head pressed back at the beginning. I know I would love the ride though!!:thumbsup2

Apparently I have way too many WDW travel books. Because it seems like in every single one they are warning about how scary The Great Movie Ride can be for kids. I think I'll have to check out You tube to get a feel for how scary the ride really is.;)

Your plans look great! :thumbsup2 As the others have said, those GAD FPs are going to be perfect this day! :cool1:

90 minutes seems like such a long time to wait!! But since we are going the week after Easter week I'm expecting big crowds. I think your 45 minutes should probably be fine since you are going at a slower time.

There is a new CS location but for the life of me I can't think of the name at the moment but I've heard good things about it (on Winkers and Englishrosie's TR's). The plans look good!

Hmm....I'll have to check it out! Thanks!

Hey! Perfect timing is right!! I was just going to look into the new CS place. You know..I saw that on FB tonight and didn't really pay attention. Thanks for posting it! That Buffalo Chicken sandwich sounds very yummy!! I may have to rethink this whole Backlot thing!:rotfl:

Your plans are coming together very nicely :cool1:

That's great that you added on an extra day of tickets - for $6 how can you go wrong?! We did the same thing last spring, we were fairly certain we would only be in the parks 7 days but bought 8 days of tickets just so we had the extra bit of flexibility for the very reasonable price of $14:)

If you remember from my TR we got the photopass CD, I pre-ordered it at the discount which was nice. We had A LOT of pics on there from the Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boutique, but also lots of others that included all 4 of us - which as others mentioned doesn't happen very often. I don't think we asked for any of the "extras" but we got the baby Simba pics in AK and Tink in both MK and Epcot. I would say go for it and review the Stitchkingdom website so you know where to be on the look out for the photographers and then take advantage whenever you see them. Without the BBB pics we still had enough to make it worth while but next time I will be more aware of searching out the photographers especially in the lesser known spots.

Your TL/HS day sounds great, so much fun! Very busy but do-able considering you have those wonderful GAD FPs:woohoo: We got to Fantasmic! about 90 minutes ahead, maybe a little less. We had great seats and probably could have gone a bit later and still had decent seats. However by 30 minutes before show time there did not appear to be many seats left and I could see people starting to go to the standing room areas. To pass the time we ate our dinner and we brought the iPod with us that night so the girls watched a movie while we waited.

My goodness I've blathered on, I'll have to do better at checking in regularly so as not to miss so many posts:rolleyes1

Thanks!!:goodvibes They seem to keep changing quite a bit.:rolleyes1 (the plans...but hopefully for the better!;)) We couldn't beat the $6...that's for sure!!:thumbsup2

I loved looking at all your photopass pictures from your TR!! :goodvibes They all turned out so good! Seeing all the great pictures on everyone's TR has really encouraged us to give it a try this year. Plus, it will be nice this trip to be able to get a lot of family shots! As I said earlier, I'm rarely in any of the pictures because I take them all. Now...I just have to wait for the discount so I can pre-order the CD!;)

Thanks for the info on Fantasmic!! I think we will stick with our original plan and get there the 90 minutes before...maybe a little less depending on how busy the park seems. Great idea on the ipod! I'll have to think of something like that to bring to keep the boys occupied!:goodvibes

Your plans look great Angie!! I have not seen Princess and the Frog yet and I am REALLY wanting to see that!! I hope to rent it and watch it with the kids! Gabe sat and watched Snow White too this past weekend when it was on the Disney Channel. He said he didn't like it but wouldn't stop watching!!:rotfl: Thanks for asking about PhotoPass, I have been thinking about getting the CD too. Our last trips all I have done is order one 5x7 by one of the park icons for us. I may do more pics or get the CD this time around. Your trip is getting so close!!:cheer2:

Thanks Beth!!:goodvibes Oohhh...you really need to watch Princess and the Frog..such a cute movie!! It was even better than I thought it would be! I have read they have the characters now in Liberty Square at MK--so we'll definitely be on the lookout!!!:thumbsup2

Too funny about Gabe saying he didn't like Snow White but not wanting to walk away.:rotfl: The boys liked it...but they did roll their eyes a few times especially at all the singing. Noah kept saying "Why do they have to sing so much, Mommy?":confused3:laughing:

You're trip is getting so close too!!!:yay:YAY!

Hi Everyone! Hope you are having a great day! We've had a busy couple days here with doctor's appointments and Easter shopping!! It seems as the boys get older.. I have a harder time knowing what to get them.:confused3 I guess I just don't want a ton of stuff leftover enticing me to eat it.:rolleyes1: This year they are really into Phineas and Ferb and Club Penguin and I'm having the hardest time finding stuff....everything is sold out--especially Club Penguin!!!Boy...it's times like this I wish we had a closer Disney Store!!

Anyways, lets get on with the purpose of this update... Looking Back and remembering past Animal Kingdom trips!!:yay:

We love Animal Kingdom, but just like with DHS and I guess Epcot it took us until our second visit until we truly appreciated how great the park is! Believe it or not DH and Nick had no desire to visit AK on our first visit. DH because he is terrified of snakes and I think he thought one was going to be lurking around every corner.:confused3 Nick..I'm not sure why...maybe because we had saved it until almost the end of our trip and after seeing MK with all the rides and things to do--he wasn't impressed...who knows?? Then again, he doesn't like snakes either so maybe that was it?? But... Noah and I loved it the first trip!! It was so funny watching Noah the first time he rode Kilimanjaro Safaris. He was so amazed every time we would see an animal and he would point and say "Look Mommy...LOOK!" It was so cute! On our second trip, last April I decided to move AK up as one of the first parks we visited and I'm so glad I did! We had beautiful day. Although, we didn't ride any of the bigger rides like Dinosaur or EE we still had a lot of fun exploring the park and especially the Tree of Life!! I took so many pictures of that tree last year..I think I filled an entire photo album with the pictures!!! We had such a great time, that when we had to choose 3 parks to visit last August, AK was one of the ones we wanted to head back to! This time we brought along the family and....I got to ride Dinosaur and EE for the very first time and loved them!! I can honestly say...they terrified me but it was so much fun! I won't lie it was extremely hot that day and we were constantly using our misting fan to cool off... Wow! But, nonetheless it was still a fun time! Here are a few favorite pictures from Animal Kingdom from 2008 and 2009.
2008

April 2009

August 2009

I didn't take too many pictures in August...it was just so hot and our time at the park was limited. But we still had soooo much fun!! I can't wait to go back!! Thanks for taking this trip down memory lane with me!!:goodvibes

Next up-- AK plans!!! (and hopefully soon Characters and Fun Finds...once I finally get my list organized!!)

Great AK pictures - there's no such thing as too many pictures of the tree. :goodvibes I'm on the fence about taking the train out to Rafiki's Planet Watch or Affection Section or whatever it's called... I think Zach might like some of the things out there, Alex not so much and he's scared to death of animals so the petting zoo would definitely be out!

Do you have a Target nearby? I bought two Phineas & Ferb t-shirts for Zach today at Target. I've seen bathing suits there too - but they were too big for Zach. They also have a lot of Club Penguin stuff. Toys R Us does too - I wish they'd come out with that new orange puffle! I thought they might release it in time for Easter sales, but no such luck...

Zach is getting some Club Penguin toys & books for Easter - I'm saving the DS game for right before we leave for our trip. Alex likes Yo Gabba Gabba lately... way too young for him, but it's what he likes right now so he's getting a couple of those toys/DVDs.

Yay for AK!! I love the African drum pictures...those drums always seem to draw my boys in as well! And I agree with Amy...NO such thing as too many pictures! (this coming from the girl who filled a 45 page scrapbook with pictures from a 3 day Vegas trip....ok, so I have a problem! at least I'm the first to admit it! LOL!)

Man, do I hear you about the Easter shopping! Try doing it for a 15 and almost 13 year old. At least Jonah is still easy!
