Can we book the Concierge level at the Polynesian resort with our DVC points?

I tried logging onto dvcmember.com to get more info and am having issues...I think it's a user error! LOL :surfweb:

Thank you!

Yes you can. We have done it twice, and once at AKL before DVC came to town there. I know others don't agree it's a good use of points, but I love Poly CL. I'd rather go there for four or five nights versus 10 nights at a regular DVC resort. I'm ready to head home after five days in Disney.

The Hawaii building is right next to the pool, and the beach. A couple minute walk to GCH too.

114 points a night for Friday-Sat during regular season? No way Jose!

The price Disney wants for just a garden view, club level room in the Hawaii building is outrageous. Having stayed twice at club level, I wouldn't do it again unless there was a fantastic deal. I have to say as a long time fan of the Polynesian and a veteran of many stays there, it just isn't worth it for what you get on club level. It's getting that way for just a regular, non club level garden view room as well. IMO, they want a lot of money to stay there and I can't justify it anymore unless a good deal happens. Speaking for myself, no way would I use my points for staying there.

Oh well to each their own, we booked 7 days Poly CL LV for next month on points after our DCL cruise and I could care less about how much points it costs in terms of value. Bottom line is our DVC is paid for and at this point it is about simply getting what I want, where I want, and when I want it.....:woohoo:

Totally agree. To me its like someone giving you a gift card; I can spend it on one item that uses up the entire amount or I could buy a couple of less expensive items, either way I am getting exactly what I want. :thumbsup2

It depends on how many points you have. Those with less than 300 (about the average) would not likely spend all their points for just a few nights stay there. Those with over 1000 would have much less an issue.

I guess the gift card metaphor is accurate . . . if you ignore dues.

Right now, I can book a poly concierge room for a weekend in value season on line for $739 for the weekend, including tax. Or, I could pay 220 points, plus $95. I think that comes out to $2.92 per point, which I paid $5.00 for in dues.

I don't really see how paying $1100 in dues plus $95 for a room that would cost you $739 to book for cash is like a gift card.

Not going to be true all seasons and all times, but I'd say when one hits the point that the cash value of the points is less than you paid for them in dues, renting or finding another use for the points is probably something that all but the wealthiest or couldn't-be-bothered-with-logistics should consider.

Add me the group that has less than 300 points and uses them for CL stays. We have 241 points, and have stayed CL three times. I'd rather stay a few nights at CL versus 10 nights in a studio/one bedroom at SSR. It's just the way we like to vacation. I won't burn half my vacation in Orlando each year or two.

The four nights we stayed Poly CL last summer was one of the best Disney vacations we've done, and I thought a great use of our points.

My point was not in comparing a monetary value but the fact that the points are ours to do with as we see. I did not buy mine to worry about how to use them. I use them as I want.

If I had wanted to save money on every trip I would have never bought DVC.

I would never purport to tell any particular person how to use their points. It's like telling someone how to spend their money. Absolutely, they are your points.

But in a thread like this, where people who may not have run the numbers are curious about the economics and getting info, I think it's important to mention what the finances are. I think for most people curious about using points for non DVC resorts, spending $5 in dues for $2.50 in value would make it a no go. But that doesn't mean a person for whom it doesn't matter is wrong.
