I know that this has probably been asked before but here goes!!
I own at BLT and plan on staying ther for our vow renewal at Walt Disney World in May 2011. There will be 6 of us staying in a two-bedroom villa on points and we will have up to 12 or so guests staying at other resorts at WDW. I know that me and my family staying on points with me can access the TOTW lounge but can I invite my other guests to have a drink with me and watch the fireworks or not.
Thanks for your help

Sorry, no. The rules state that the lounge is only for those staying at BLT on points. There's a cast member checking resort IDs before they even let you on the elevator.

You never know what the rules may be in May 2011 but for now only those booked at BLT through DVC (points or cash) and your guests staying with those points/cash through DVC can go up.

Congrats on your vow renewal :)

I have been contemplating doing mine at WDW at some point in the future. :thumbsup2

We we're there last month, party of 8. Only had to provide one room key for the entire party. In fact we got a call from friends who wanted to join us, all we had to do was send down one member of our party with an ID and they let us bring our friends up no problem.

Do I have to make a reservation in advance to go up to TOWL? How does that work? Do you have to pay to use the lounge or only if you want drinks/snacks? thanks, Gail

When we were there, no reservations were needed. We just walked down to the desk in the lobby and were escorted up. No need to pay, you can just view the fireworks if you desire. When the fireworks are going off, the inside of the lounge is pretty empty as many are out watching. Once they were over, many people did leave. Hope that helps...

They don't take advance reservations for the TOWL. As LisaRN97 noted, you go to the check-in desk on the first floor of BLT to get access.

If you have a TiW card, you can get a 20% discount in the lounge.

Also...You dont have to be staying on points. You can be paying cash and show your room key and blue DVC member card and you can go up. Again, they will only ask for one card not everyone's so your friends can go up

Thanks for the TiW info, that's good to know. We'll be at the BLT in May and November and looking forward to it.

According to the rules, you have to be staying on cash through member services, not CRO. When you stay on cash through member services, your key would read "DVC Member". Was that the case?

That is exactly what the rules say, but--as others have stated--I would to be sure and ask the cast member who is checking IDs on the night you want to visit. Depending upon how crowded the lounge is, you may get lucky. We had no problem getting a family of four who was staying somewhere else up to watch the fireworks with us--on New Year's Eve.

Our experience. Checked in at the desk in the lobby then were told to make our way down to the elevator where there was another CM (well out of sight of the desk in the lobby) this CM did not check any room cards. They only ever asked for 1 person's room card.

FWIW that night it was not busy at all and once the fireworks ended most people left.

When you stay on points or on cash through DVC member services it will have DVC Member on your room key. I think that is what the rules called for at the begining. They have since changed and you are able to go up if you are not staying on points, or through the member services. The cast member will be able to see your blue DVC card and the BLT code on the room key

Well, not sure if the rules are enforced. My adult son and I walked across the bridge and up the elevator on New Years Eve and had a couple beers. Never carded, never stopped. And we were staying at SSR :)

you can do it.

no one has ever even asked for my blue card. just the room Id it says dvc member and that is good enough for the CM.

did not even go this last trip -so enjoyed the fireworks from my room. should have - but did not.

boy completely forgot to get the discount. this year not even buying the TiW card because did not use it enough.

pretty silly - did use it enough because forgot opportunities like this one....

the drinks even without a discount were reasonable for Disney (even for Florida)

Hello. We were just there in February. We have family who live in Florida who met us there. They were able to accompany us to the top to see the fireworks. So, it does not hurt to ask!
