Goofy Proposes, Fi Falls for Sleeping Beauty & we Celebrate our Engagement NEW 6/18!

I am back :goodvibes Computer all fixed--it has been broken!

I am so happy that you posted that you could not really take a free day!! I am planning right now for our Dec trip, and I have lots of free time in there. We decided it would be a laid back type of trip. I know my in-laws will have no problem hanging, but we are not like that. Sounds like you and your FI are not either ;)

The AKL pics are amazing! Never been there...really want to go! LOVE the Christmas bow on the tree too!

We ate at ABC Com. during our trip and were surprised too! Becky told me it was good. I did not really like the atmosphere, but the food was really good. There are not too many good CS in DHS. Why cant they change that? Cant wait to hear more!!

Yay! I'm glad your back, Katie! :goodvibes

Yeah, our free day didn't turn out as such this time. I felt like if we didn't do something we were wasting away our vacation! :sad2: I think, as long as you can swim, a free day is great because you can just spend it by the pool...but as you know there was no pool for us on this trip! :lmao:

You should take a minute to hop over to AKL on your next trip if you get a chance. Not only is it a beautiful hotel but you've got all of those amazing animals to see. I bet your kids would love it! :thumbsup2

I think the lack of good cs restaurants in DHS is actually one of the reasons I don't really like to go there :confused3 :rotfl2: Our problem was everything to eat was outside but we were so cold we needed something indoors. They should really fix the eating situation at DHS!

DAY FOUR – Pt. 2

After lunch, we had a while before we could use the ToT fastpasses so we decided to head over to star tours. I believe it had a posted wait time of 20 minutes but we were able to walk right on! (even though it was like 12:00 by this point). After star tours, we were on our way to the Hollywood Tower Hotel!

This would be FI’s first time on ToT so I was hoping he would enjoy it. As you all have discovered by now, I am a bit of a ride wimp and this is one that I absolutely refuse to go on. No amount of money could get me on this thing! I rode this ride when I was younger and absolutely HATED it. I can not stand the feeling of being dropped, so I waited for FI while he rode. In the meantime, I grabbed us fastpasses for Rock’n Roller Coaster.

After about 45 minutes of waiting for FI to take his elevator ride twice, he emerged with a huge smile on his face! He loved it – of course, he and I are such ride opposites!

After FI’s two times on the ToT, we pondered for a moment as to what to do next. None of the shows were working out due to timing, but we had a lot of time to kill before it was time to use our fastpasses for RnRC. So, we decided to head across the park to do the backlot tour! For some reason it took us a really long time to find the line for this attraction – I’m not sure why, but when we finally found our way in line we were greeted with a looooong wait. Again, long for this trip was about 30 minutes. Thankfully though, while we were waiting they showed some behind the scenes stuff from Pearl Harbor – a little outdated since the movie came out nearly 10 years ago, but I didn’t mind because (next to Beauty and the Beast) it’s my favorite movie!

Soon enough though, we were making our way to the little “arena” where they do the water stunts. Unfortunately the low temps prevented them from fully performing the stunts.

While this attraction certainly isn’t the most thrilling, we still found it enjoyable. FI liked the canyon scene

And enjoyed seeing all of the behind the scenes memorabilia.

I was also glad to get some pictures of the Mickey ear water tower, which to me will always be the “icon” of the park (MGM).

After the backlot tour we wondered around the street of America for a while.

And then it was finally it was time to ride Rock’n Roller Coaster!

Disney is pretty much the only place I will ride roller coasters. I hate coasters, but the ones at the world are pretty tame and since I like EE so much, I decided to go ahead and try RnRC, even though I was pretty much terrified. :scared1:

Well, after hearing the typical warning announcement while waiting in line I chickened out and waited for FI outside! :sad2: He said it was a good thing I didn’t ride because it turns you upside down. He used both of our fastpasses and rode twice so I again had a nice leisurely wait of people watching and catching up on Facebook on my iphone!

When FI finished up RnRC, we were both pretty tired and wanted to rest up a bit before our dinner ADR at T-Rex. First though, we had to make a few stops for some purchases we had been eyeing.

For me, I needed some more of the delicious taffy that I had bought at Goofy’s earlier. This time, I got the family size bag! I will say though I didn’t actually end up finishing the whole bag, so there.:lmao:

FI was dying for the Jamaica Mickey ears that he had seen in WOD and was able to find a shop at the park that sold them.

So with taffy in hand and with a head full of braids, we made our way back to AKL.

Up Next: Dinner at T-Rex!

I'm with you....I hate roller coasters anywhere but Disney! We went to a Six Flags this summer and it was such a waste. I rode one, and after that, I was so terrified that we couldn't do anything else. I love EE, but RnRC takes me a while to work up my nerves. I can do it once a trip, but that's it. I'm always afraid my harness will come undone when I'm upside down

DFi is so cute in his Mickey ears! I've never seen those before. I'm not one for upside down roller coasters, but I did RnR. I screamed the whole time and kept my eyes closed. DH got motion sickness from it. Our son wouldn't even try to go on it, he just watched DD. I would like to try it again - some day - with eyes open:rolleyes:.

DAY FOUR – Pt. 2

Well, after hearing the typical warning announcement while waiting in line I chickened out and waited for FI outside!

As I was reading, I kept thinking, "YAY---She's going to do it!" and then you backed out! OH WELL, you'll just have to keep going back until you get your nerve up! :rolleyes1

I just found your report and I REALLY REALLY REALLY am enjoying it! You are really adorable with your FI and I LOVE :lovestruc your pics a lot! Thank you for doing a trip report! :thumbsup2

Taffy and braids :lmao::lmao: I love it! You are such a ride chicken...like me ;)

My DH did ToT alone this year and did just fine. That is the way I like it :thumbsup2 Can't WAIT to hear about TRex. I know my kids will love it and I hope that you do too!

Wow, you would hate to go with me! I'm a lover of coasters. I think as I age it gets a little bit harder because I've been finding myself getting motion sick from time to time. But I go all out a Disney. The only two rides I have problems with is EE and Star Tours. They make me really motion sick. I know why Star Tours does but EE I have no clue.

Haha your like my sister in law. We took her to DL last year and every ride adult ride she refused to get it. She tricked us once too because she told us she'd go to ToT and we were soo happy! And we cheered her on the whole way until we got to the loading part. She freaked out and ran out of the exit when the ride doors opened. :( She waited happily for us in the gift shop while we jumped on the ride.

I guess your going to just have to keep going to Disney until you can get the courage to get on those rides. :rotfl:

You chickened out :sad2: j/k. But seriously if you can do EE...RnRC is a LOT more tame.

Great pic of your fiance in the Mickey Ears...nice job! :thumbsup2

We have a six flags here in Atlanta and it is pointless for me to go...its all huge roller coasters that I won't ride!

Maybe one of these days I'll be able to work up the nerve to try RnRC!

Aren't the Mickey braids cute?

The being upside down is what worries me about RnRC. The reason I won't do coasters is because of the drops - so I really don't know how I would react to being upside down! I can't imagine it would be pleasant, though.

Oh, I'm such a disappointment :sad2:

:lmao: Maybe one day I'll be brave enough. I think you're right though...I just need to keep going back to "face my fears" :rolleyes1

Glad I'm not the only wimp! :goodvibes

T-Rex is soooo good! This was our second time eating there! :thumbsup2

You're right, I wouldn't do to well in Disney with you! Although it sounds like you're just like my FI - the bigger the thrill the better!

That's funny about your SIL - I don't blame her one bit! :lmao:

Congrats on your engagement. Im loving your TR. Cant wait to here more of oyour adventures

Thank you! So glad you're reading along and enjoying! :goodvibes

That's what I need to hear - that RnRC is easier than EE. I'll be telling myself that next time I'm attempting to ride! :lmao:

I just got all caught up on your trip report. Congrats on your engagement, I just love Goofy's proposal, so cute

Thank you! :goodvibes Goofy was too funny with his proposal! It's definitely something I won't forget!

Since we're about half-way through this TR, I thought I would go ahead and add the links to my updates on the first page to make it easier for those who are coming in at this point. :goodvibes

I have enjoyed reading your TR!! Congrats!! I just got engaged as well and we will be there in May celebrating! Can't wait to read more!:)

Hi! I'm all caught up.. really enjoyed reading so far :goodvibes

We got engaged on the same day!! :lovestruc

Few things..

DF said recently that we have to get a pedometer for our next WDW trip... find out exactly how much I 'make' him walk each day! :rotfl:

I am loving your pics of AKL so far... for our Disneymoon (June/July 2011!) we are planning one night there, followed by 5 nights on the Disney Dream cruise (booked!) then a week at the Grand Floridian :cloud9: .. even though it'll just be one night/morning at AKL, I can't wait to stay there! I've eaten at Jiko years ago & Sanaa last year, so I've seen the resort.. but can't wait for a Savannah view room! :wizard:

Rollercoasters.... I could never ever get my head around being flipped upside down on a rollercoaster.. in fact, the first time I went to Busch Gardens with my family, I burst into tears when we got to a rollercoaster (the Python?!) and had to be taken off!! :scared1: .. but then I rode R&RC at the Disney Studios.. I just had to say to myself "it's Disney.. how bad can it be?!" and now I love fast rides!! although i still scream & cry a little when waiting for that red traffic light to turn green on RnRC :rolleyes1 lol

Looking forward to reading more!!

Emma princess: x x

Thank you so much! I'm so glad to have you reading along! :goodvibes

And congrats on your engagement as well - I hope your celebration is just as magical as ours was. Disney really does go above and beyond to make special moments extra special! :cloud9:

Thank you for reading along! :goodvibes And congrats on your engagement - how exciting that we both got engaged on the same day! :cloud9:

Wow! Your Disneymoon sounds wonderful! You are so much further along in the planning process than I am - we don't even have a date picked out yet! :sad2: We're hoping for the middle of May with a May Disneymoon, though! You should definitely do a night at AKL! It truly is a beautiful resort!

One of these days I am going to get up the nerve to try RnRC! I have the same logic as you, if it's Disney it can't be that bad, right? Ahh well, maybe next time I'll be courageous enough! :rolleyes1

I need to check out the TR and the PJ in your siggy! I'll definitely let you know when I pop over there! :goodvibes

Hey Courtney! Don't feel bad about not wanting to ride the roller coasters! I will NOT get on ToT no matter what so I understand where you are coming from!! Can't wait to read more!

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who won't ride the "big" rides :goodvibes And you could not pay me to get on ToT. I did it once, probably like 10 years ago and it was an awful experience. :scared1: Never again!

I'm joining in! I have to ask, where did you get your bag? I love it and it doesn't seem to hang on your shoulder in a painful way! :)
