I was thinking maybe we could start a little support group for those of us that are trying to lose 10 lbs or less. It is much different to try to lose various amounts of weight, and I thought this would be a great way to exchange ideas, celebrations, and frustrations...

Well.... I could definitely use the support! I've been struggling with these last 10 pounds for MONTHS now and I am starting to lose my motivation and that SCARES me! I've started a new circuit training class in the hopes that it will shake things up a bit and get those pounds off!............P

I think circuit training is a great idea! Really mixes up the cardio. I've also found that the stairmaster is quite the intense workout, as well. Once you've mastered that you can move on to the actual rotating stairs machine. I have friends, who can run marathons and still can't do that!

i'd love to join...i've yo-yo'ed and struggled with 10 lbs for 2+ yrs! i have a few great days in a row, then i self-sabotage, then when WI day i'm frustrated and depressed! i MUST and NEED to break this cycle! daily accountability would be GREAT! :teeth:

ohMom - welcome! The last 10 lbs are always the hardest and I think we all bounce back and forth. I feel like I always tend to let myself go during the fall/winter month, this year especially for myself, as I am now in a relationship. Now it's the big push before spring break (my BF and I are going to FL), my BFFs wedding in June, and the summer in general. Bikini ready is something that my body is not! Do you try exercise and diet or just 1?

i'm an exerciser...i'm a powerwalker during the nicer months (weather wise) and just signed up for May 16 half-marathon. those are my way of commiting, i'll just follow the schedule up to the event. during the winter I did BL on the Wii; and I've been trying to incorporate some yoga/pilates for that 'yoga body' look.

my shortcoming is eating! we like to eat and i'm a sugar addict. I've tried planned snacks, no snacks, light versions of snacks....i just have not been able to keep the plan long enough to make it routine. i know it takes 2 weeks to form a habit. there is always 'something' going on that breaks up my 2 weeks. excuses, huh

Can I play? I've got about 4 to 5 pounds to lose and I really need some accountability! They say weight loss is made in the kitchen and that is my downfall. I love to eat and it seems like with my training right now (sprint triathlon in May) I am hungry all the time. Especially on swimming days. I had a major binge on Stacy's cinnamon sugar pita chips yesterday and I am so mad at myself right now!

I've been meaning to post in one of these threads for a long time now. I have actually 10-20 I should lose. My family is vegetarian, so we are very equipped with all of the grains and vegetables and lentils, fruits, etc. But my weakness (and that is an understatement) is sweets. I bake at home all the time; I even worked in a gourmet bakery for some time ... and I have trouble with portion control of sweets. Some people have told me to cut out the sweets except for once a week, but I can't! I have found it much easier to eat a small amount everyday to be satisfied, instead of denying myself. I just tell myself that the sweets aren't running away anywhere ... what I don't eat today will still be there tomorrow! I don't need to have it all in one day.

The other problem is exercise. I can take walks now that the weather's good. We have a Gazelle machine in our basement, and I can listen to my music or watch TV/DVR'd shows, but it's the thought of exercising and the difficulty of losing weight that makes it difficult to even get on the machine. I also use Wii Fit, which I love.

Sorry for the long post, but I had a lot of things to say and I know this is the place to do it. :grouphug:

I'd like to join! I would like to lose 10 pounds to get back to pre-baby weight. Of course, "baby" is now 5 and just registered for kindergarten!

I have always exercised, but I eat too much. I am trying to add some new things to my exercise routine (I am on week eight of a Couch to 5K running plan and I have recently added Yoga and Pilates to the mix). If I can control my portion sizes, I will lose the weight. I also need to make healthier choices (birthday cake shouldn't be considered dinner).

I look forward to having some accountability here! Thanks!

I would like to join too. I just finished the second week of the Couch to 5K program just walking. Trying to build up my cardio and lose 8 pounds. We are planning a hiking trip to Rocky Mountain in June and a Europe Cruise on the Magic in July. Living in Florida, weather is traditionally not a problem to get out and walk, but this winter has been COLD by southern standards. I am also lifting light weights twice a week. Still not much progress...

Looking forward to learning new tips and ideas from everyone.

I'm down to my last few pounds. The goal weight listed on my ticker is 144, but I'm considering going a little lower if I can. I'm pretty happy where I am, but I would be thrilled to lose some more.

ME TOO! and MickeyMom!! see we are all cut from the same cloth! i rationalized the orange cupcakes are fine for breakfast b/c they have orange juice in them. yesterday for dinner i had peanuts/m&m's. i am TERRIBLE! how shall we all approach this! i need at least one sweet a day too! i can't make pan of no-fudge b/c i'll eat it within 2-3 days. i know i could freeze portions but i just don't!

ghoulishgirl -- WOW! triathlon! the swimming would kill me!!

i did walk my long walk for this week -- 6 miles --- now to stay in control for rest of the day!! no more peanuts/m&m's. what should I do with them? also, have leftover homemade frosting from party last weekend, i need to dump it down the drain. it's really good too. but i am the only one eating it. ok -- i'm going to go do that right now!

Yes! I know just how this is. Sweets are so tempting and wonderful, but how can you eat just a morsel?! Like, just now, I had an ice cream sundae (1/2 fat chocolate ice cream, lite whipped cream, cherries, caramel and fudge sauce, honey and Spanish peanuts). Not that that's bad as an occasional tread, but I had also had a sugary cereal at breakfast, a cookie and a few sips of regular Jones Soda (and since I am a pop addict I drink my diet everyday also) ... so I told myself the ice cream was too much, but I did it anyway!

One of my FAVORITE little snacks is peanuts/chocolate chips, similar to your combination with the candy. And ever since I bought that dang brownie pan with the dividers in it I have been baking too much!

I made chocolate chip/oatmeal cookies last week and wanted to freeze them. Thanks for the reminder.

I do keep in mind a health goal and slowly work toward it. There's this girl on my soap opera who was prancing around the latest episodes in a bikini that wouldn't even cover an ant; I draw the line at chocolate covered ants. Nuts and fruit in chocolate is one thing ... antennae is another! :scared1:

(They're real! People actually eat them!)

As is par for the course, I went swimming this morning and was ravenous all day. My mom and I went to Round Table pizza lunch buffet which was amazing and I ate WAY TOO MUCH! I haven't had a real piece of pizza in ages, only crummy frozen diet ones, so I think I went a little crazy. I also had salad, but you know the salad bar isn't really healthy!
Going to a card making party tomorrow and I know there is going to be cake. I'm going to get a food jounal, I need to do something different because what I am doing now just isn't working.

I actually found a great replalcement for pizza if you need one. My weakness is salty foods, so I've tried to find healthy alternates. This is for thin crust, if you like thin crust pizza:

Preheat oven to about 400.
Place a whole wheat wrap (I like brown rice ones from Trader Joes b/c I feel like they get extra crispy) on a cookie sheet and bake for 6-7min or until slightly golden brown.
Add some pizza sauce on top, some low fat mozz, and red pepper flakes (if you like spicy food)
Cook in oven for another 3 min or until the cheese melts.

It's soooo delicious! I made it for my BF last week and even he loved it (and asked for the recpie)

Okay, it's official. I am 6 pounds heavier than I want to be. I have started a food journal today and have already ran/walked 5 miles. I know what needs to be done, now to do it!

great job on the 5 miler!

another weekend...too many sweets. we went out for ice cream yesterday, to a place nearby that was mentioned on a food network show. it was ridiculously yummy. today I will not eat sweets beyone 1 chocolate vitatop. tomorrow we leave for quick trip out of town so i won't be checking in until friday...stay strong ladies!

I had a bad pizza incident on Sat night, after a long night of drinking. Sigh. And my parents are coming to town today to take me and the BF out to dinner. Will get back on track tomorrow!

Good Morning,

My scale displayed the exact same number as last week. I guess that is better than a bigger number coming up. Starting the third week of C25K tonight. I bought a pedometer to keep track of my time and distance walking. Fun to check at the end of the day. I went ahead and ordered my new swimsuit for inspiration. Ready for Summer!

I'd like to join!! I'm new to the WISH board but not new to DIS. I mostly hang out on the Photography board and before that the budget board.

I just ran my first 8K this past weekend!! I had never run 5 miles without stopping in my life and my goal was to get under an hour and I ran it in 53:18!! I was SO excited.

Then we celebrated with a bunch of beer and a cookout :headache::headache: So here I am on Monday again up on the scale. Grr. I'd like to lose ~10lbs and I fluctuate a lot (4-5 lbs within a week's time!) so I'd like to move my fluctuations down. I've been battling with these last 10 lbs for about two years now (going up and down).

And stretch goal is possibly to do the Princess Half Marathon in Disney next March. I'd absolutely love to say I did a half marathon (after not being able to even run a mile a few years ago) and of course doing it at Disney would be icing on the cake!

Goal is to eat healthy this week but have a night out with coworkers on Wednesday and a birthday party out of town on Saturday. Here's to being good!
