What I would do/not do next cruise

What a fun thread!

What I won't do again:

6) Vow to lose weight before my cruise...who am I kidding.

:lmao::lmao::lmao: Oh, I am so with you on that! Even when the cruise is booked over a year in advance!

one thing i would do next time (if there is a next time)...
change our dining rotation if the character breakfast is the morning after pirate night. my kids were exhausted from being out late at pirate night! they had so much fun but they were so tired the next morning at the breakfast and the pictures show it!

oh yeah, another thing i would do again is order BLT's from room service-yummy! i think i ordered them 4/7 days on our recent cruise!

Regarding the character breakfast, if anyone finds themselves in the same situation (CB the morning after any late night plans): check with your head server and they can probably just schedule you in a different day. Since everyone does not go to the CB (I didn't until my 6th cruise!) there should be room for you on any of the mornings they do it.

And thanks for the BLT suggestion, I'll remember that for the EBTA! :thumbsup2

.

Won't do Again

1. Eat dessert at dinner on the night of the midnight dessert buffet .... I was far too full to try anything other than one strawberry.

2. Leave all the packing until the last evening ... way too stressful.

3. Miss any of the shows .... missed Disney Dreams last time because we were faffing about.

4. Origami class ..... make a flower but have no desperate need to do it again

5. The Galley Tour ... really interesting but once you've done it you've done it.

Will Do Again

1. Join the DIS meet group and meet lots of lovely new friends.

2. Join in with the Fish Extender exchange .... really enjoyed it.

3. Get up early and grab a coffee and wander the deserted decks... really relaxing

4. Take thousands of photos.... wonderful memories.

5. Rent bikes on Castaway Cay .. really enjoyed this.

6. The trivia quizzes .... good fun.

Will Do Next TIME for 1st Time

1. Go to Cove Cafe for specialty coffee

2. See at least one movie on board

3. Use the pool and hot tub

4. Use the gym and walk the deck in the morning to give more calorie room for food intake.

5. Get Room Service Breakfast and room sevice cookies.

6. Use the pressing service.

7. Go on the upper deck at night and look at the stars with a bottle of champagne

8. Watch a sunrise

9. Go to the cooking demos, behind the scenes tours and the ship art tour, in fact any informative talk or demonstration.

10. TAKE TIME TO RELAX ... last time with 4 teens in tow we did not relax at all.

Can't believe I missed so much on the first cruise :confused3

Fun thread!!

Things I Did That I Will Do Again:
  • Rent Tuxedos (and shoes) for DH and DS for formal night... much easier than carrying bulky suits onboard and I LOVE the formal family portraits!
  • Pack swimsuits in carryon bag! The kids LOVED swimming in the Mickey pool when we boarded the ship.... It was the least crowded of the entire cruise.
  • Bring a pop up hamper.
  • Send clothes to the onboard cleaners.
Things that I Would Not Do
  • Insist that our kids go to the clubs -- they didn't want to. They are only young once, so if they want to hang with us, then that's ok with me.
  • Take so many shoes. :rotfl:
Thing that I Want to Do Next Time
  • Martini Tasting
  • Get a Massage
  • Palos for Dinner
  • Book my next DCL cruise onboard for the discount
  • Try the "drink of the day" every day.
where is the martini tasting?!

let me give this a try...

have Konk Kooler on CC

Now kid's version - My DS 12

Free Throw Contest (CC and on deck 10)
Visit sports deck (on deck 10)
Hang out on "secret verandah" on deck 7
Pin trading
Go to shows (golden mickeys and disney dream)
Will not do again:
Buy 25$ coupon book for nassau and spend the whole day looking for free stuff
Go to dinner at animators palate (not as good as people say)
Spend alot of time at nassau
Breakfast buffet at parrot cay
Will do 1st time:

only go to the sail away party if this is your first disney cruise

not get off the boat in Nassau -- just enjoy the time onboard
see a movie

thanks for the tip on the CB! i will try to remember that next time!

I would def. take advantage of the room service - I didn't order any one my last cruise...those mickey ice cream bars would have been amazing after spending the evening in rockin bar d. :goodvibes
Oh yeah, I would def. save up some of my own money for drinks by the pool! :rotfl:

I'd like to know too. Also what's the deal with clocks? Is there none in the staterooms?????

The clockface is not lit, so you can't see the time when the room is dark.

.

Just back from the 3/7/10 4 night on the Wonder...would not go to Atlantis - we thought it was dirty and overrated & I would skip dinner at Palo....would definitely join the DSI group, do the FE again & Castaway was excellent....would like to try the Palo brunch & join DVC ! :goodvibes

Will Do
3 Lunch at one of the sit down resturants
4 Sushi bar at the buffet--YUM!

YUCK!

Will do:
2. Palo Tea. I just think it is very relaxing and at 5 bucks it is worth it.
3. Watch fireworks from Deck 4 insted of fighting thru all the people to get to the Pirate party (which in my personal opinion needs to either be changed or go away as it is old and the same for the last five years) and just run to deck 4 from were I am at 10:30 and see the all to breief firework show.
.

.

Will do.

3) Get off the ship first thing in the morning for Castaway Cay. The beach was beautiful, quiet, and we had our pick off sun chairs! That only lasted an hour before the people in the back of the first row began moving all there chairs to within feet of the waterline... :(
6) Room Service for breakfast! I think that they were a lifesaver. Our kids are not very graceful in the AM and it made sure we were well fed before the "Day" started.
8) Get up before sunrise to explore the ship. Its amazing how much work the DCL Staff do while we are curled up dreaming of Sugarplums. I saw them dust everything every morning. (5:30 I was on deck) It was very surreal.
9) Do the lifestyle portraits. Well worth the money when you consider the sitting fees anywhere else.

6) Sail during an El Nino season (Maybe hurricane season but never El Nino) lol

What I will do again:

  • What I will do for the first time:
  • Enjoy a dessert buffet
  • Bring our own alcohol
  • Exercise and run CC 5K- broght workout clothes last time, just never made it the gym
  • Use the navigator on sea days. I feel like we missed so many activities not paying attention to the navigator.
  • Attend the "Till be meet again" party. The kids and I love character interaction.
  • Bring pop up hamper - saw this suggestion on here somewhere so THANK YOU

What I won't do again:

  • !
  • Forget snorkle gear
  • Rent a car on a mountainous island. I was so nervous on St. Thomas I had a hard time enjoying myself

I am sure there are more for each list! Can't just think of them now!

Oh, you just reminded me! Definitely will order coffee the night before debarkation. I didn't even know this would work (that the coffee would still be warm) until after we got home and I read it on the DIS.

I'm am also right there with you about looking around the terminal. I was so busy organizing my family, checking us in, I barely remember what the place looked like! :)

Will Do Again:
.

Didn't Do but Will Next Time:

-Take along an extra pair of adult hands to keep the kid(s) entertained (I admit that DS stressed me out because he wanted to be on the go non-stop)
-Buy ship-specific souvenirs while still on-board (I'm angry at myself for not getting a Wonder Christmas ornament)
-See more movies onboard, even if it means I go by myself after kids are in bed
-See the Rainforest Room everyone keeps raving about
.
-Take along my own sea sickness medication. Boy, did we need it one night.

.

GREAT THREAD!!!!

FOUND it searching for something else........
stopped at page 3 will start back on page 4 tomorrow great read while on treadmill

THANKYOU!!!

WHAT I WILL DO EVERYTIME:
Drink wine from our verandah while eatting an "all hands on deck platter".
Order the big island cookies (several times)!
Rebook early in the cruise

WHAT I PLAN TO DO NEXT TIME:
Relax longer in the Rainforest room and bring a book with me!
Bring less wine and more beer.
Not eat dessert with every meal...OK, well, forget that one:rotfl:
Not be afraid and order from another dining room menu (if rotational night)
Bring a airfreshner, the bathrooms get stinky from the plumbing!
Load up on vitamins before we leave!
Exercise a bit more...
More hot tub time

WHAT I WONT DO AGAIN:
Bring home misc. papers, candy, etc.
Overpack

Will not do
1- book shore excursions prior to boarding

Can you explain this one? Are there incentives or additional excursions to book once on board?

Really a great topic!
Will do again..
#5) Book any island tour / activity on our own.

Would you explain this one too? Are you saying you'd book personally and not go through Disney? Just curious why and how one arranges then?

============
Thanks everyone! Looking forward to my first Dream cruise in 2013.:cool1:

Will do:

RELAX.
Read more books.

Will not do:

Tea with Alice, it was really quite boring.
Book so many different things to do that we never really got to rest.

Will do again

1. Remember that this is as much our kids vacation as it is ours.
2. Have dinner in the dining rooms each night as a family.
3. Grab a soda from deck 9 and head down to a lounger on deck 4 with a book.Ahh
4. Bring over the door shoe organizer.
5. Dress up for formal night.
6. Have a photo matte signed.
7. Spend time on the ship during a port day.
8. FE
9. Order room service. Yes sometimes a Mickey bar sounds good at midnight, along with a cheeseburger for the kiddos and some soup for daddy. (It's a wonder we didn't gain weight on our cruise)

Will do for 1st time

1. Palo for Dinner.
2. Get more photos done by Shutters.
3. Room service for breakfast. Seems like a good way to wake up and start the day rather than sleeping too late and having to rush to get to the buffet.

Won't do again

1. Freak out about seeing the shows before dinner.
2. Play Bingo.
3. Overpack...I'll be doing at least 1 load of laundry.

Thanks everyone! Looking forward to my first Dream cruise in 2013.:cool1:

I cant speak for the person who wrote those....
That i know of No there is not special incentives on board

And to book yur own excursion just look up where you and going on the net and many opportunities will come up

I am going to throw in a couple Will nots. I will not do laundry. I am on vacation and it does not feel like a vacation if I am doing chores. I will not book excursions indipendently. Last cruise I saw a group who almost missed their ship as their indipendently booked excursion was late. I overheard this at dinner as they were at the table next to us. If it were booked through DCL the ship would have waited. I will not complain about the weather. It is what it is. Finally I will not complain about rough seas. I have chosen to take my trip in the middle if the ocean, rough seas can be a part if it.
