Ok I have been eating 1200 calories. Very healthy choices, yogurt cottage cheese Whole wheat crackers, salad ect and a smart one maybe for dinner
I have been working out 5 out of 7 days. useing the cardio buring 400 calories... WHY AM I NOT DROPING ANY POUNDS!!!!! I even went out and got a new scale.. I am getting so mad:sad::sad:

anyway when I drop the total of 3 lbs ( thats all I want) I will have lost a grand total of 75 lbs in 5 years.. I only want to drop 3 pounds and I have never had such a hard time droping an ounce.

 Those last few pounds are stubborn I've heard. That's a big accomplishment losing 72 pounds -- I would try and remember that when I am getting frustrated with the last few pounds. Is is possible that you are eating too little with your activity and your body has gone into starvation mode?

I think that you would enjoy reading pjlla's WISH journal Thirty Days Til Goal. She is in CT and hasn't been able to post lately but her issues apply to you.

Good luck and don't give up! You can do it! :flower3:

If you are going to the gym you may not so much drop pounds as replace fat with muscle. Muscle weighs more then fat but also burns more calories just maintaining itself. I wouldn't worry what the number on the scale says, it is only one part of a much more complex picture.

Thanks for thinking of me!!

I also would like to put my shorts on with out haveing a wedgie.

Well... I was coming over here to mention the fact that maybe you are eating too little. But if you've already lost 75 pounds, then you definitely know what and how to eat.

I wish I could offer some other great suggestions, but as Lisa mentioned, I too am struggling with the last STUPID 6 pounds!! Six more pounds and I will have lost 89 pounds.... but I just can't seem to get there!

I have to agree with the muscle building statement that FireDancer mentioned. But that said, it definitely doesn't make you feel better if your shorts don't fit!

Maybe a nutritionist could help? I am thinking of seeking one out for my entire family. DD struggles with her weight during the off-season (she is a swimmer), DS has significant food allergies that make eating a struggle for him, and I, of course, would LOVE to lose that last 6 pounds. I think a nutritionist would definitely make sense for my family. How about for you??

The only other thought that comes to mind is to try really changing up your food and calorie intake from day to day. If you are trying to stay to about 1200 calories, maybe do 1100 on Monday, 1300 on Tuesday, 1150 on Wednesday, 1250 on Thursday... something like that. There is something connected with Weight Watchers called the "Wendie's plan" and it is about really making your body keep guessing about the number of calories it needs to burn and it really helps shake up the metabolism for some people. It might be worth a try. If you are staying consistently at 1200 calories ALL THE TIME, your body is getting VERY EFFICIENT at burning just those calories. Especially if your exercise is consistent too.

Sorry I can't help more.............P

Make sure you are varying your foods, as well. If you eat the same foods everyday your body will get used to them, so mix it up a little!

I LIKE THAT Idea!!!!:cool1::cool1:. I will try to mix up the calories a bit:woohoo:

I knew pjlla would have some words of wisdom for you. Good luck -- you can do this! :goodvibes

I'm right there with you guys, I picked up about 4-5 pounds over the holidays and they just won't budge! Even though it doesn't sound like that much, my jeans are tighter than I would like. I'm getting plenty of activity, I'm training for a triathlon, but they say swimming doesn't burn very many calories, but it makes me so hungry!

have you tried the method where you vary the calorie range? Sometimes that gets you out of a strong hold and gets ya moving again. Best of luck to you. Sounds like you are doing AWESOME. WELL DONE!!

Sounds like you've done awesome so far. Something you see in athletics, not sure if it translates to dieting, is that your body kind of gets used to a certain amount of stress, and once its adapted to it stops improving. Maybe you want to try to add 5 minutes to the cardio every other session? Try doing diff cardio activities, maybe even throw in a little weight training.

I was going to offer a similar comment as well as changing up your routine a bit both eating and activity. Seems like that's all been covered.

Let me congratulate you on your effort. It is a fantastic thing you have done and are doing for you and your family. Way to go!

I'm curious to know what finally works for you.

I would eliminate the crackers- anything with hydrogenated oils isn't a plus- I would assume they have them.

Also the sodium content of the Smart ones meal is probably pretty high and boy that water likes to hang on.

Make sure you are drinking tons on water. It does "flush" things out.

You may need increased protein to get that metabolism going again- chicken, fish, beans, etc...

You have done great so far, keep up the good work!

Linda

I whole-heartedly agree with Linda above; get off the processed foods especially the smart ones and any lean cuisines they are loaded with salt and other stuff your body just doesn't know what to do with. If you are drinking any diet soda, I'd recommend you quit that cold turkey too and stick with water (a lemon slice makes it really great tasting) and lots of it.

The other advice is terrific too; building muscle may add pounds but you'll be slimmer and have a higher metabolism. The CDC just said that women over age 35 need an hour of exercise (most cardio) every day to maintain weight--more if we want to lose it.

Best of luck to you and don't get frustrated with the scale--use the tape measure and your clothes to gage your progress.

Laurie

Drink lots of water....start eating clean(no processed foods, just veggies and lean protein, fresh fruit)

Maybe switch up your workout routine. Have you tried a Jillian Micheals tape? She does circuit training and it does give results. Combine strength training and cardio!

Also...stop worrying about the 3lbs! Be happy will your already wonderful accomplishment! Work on getting tone and watch your body transform. Don't be so sad about what is on the scale!

up date I lost a pound:wizard:...I would like to say that I feel and look like I lost 10.. Ive been working out and I must have lost inches, I feel great and my clothes are VERY loose on me:cloud9: My DH can totaly tell also:banana:

So heres to working out:lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

You are getting some good answers, and I agree get rid of the soda and add in lots of veggies. I would also suggest a change in your workouts, our bodies do reach plateau's and we need to find something to break it. Add me to the can't lose those last few pounds club, I'm 3 away from my goal and they are the hardest!
