Ten Sleeps in Disney World!! - An Aug Trip Report *5/9 Departure Day & Final Thoughts

I can't believe your TR is almost over, but am excited for your PTR. You must let me know as soon as you start it :)

Demetri will try pretty much everything .... at least once anyway. Yay for Jean! Do you think Ella will try it next time since Jean liked it so much?

For the longest time after our trip Ella was still a maybe for some of the more intense rides like TOT for the next time, but recently another of her friends was at WDW and has raved about TOT among others so now she's looking forward to trying all the thrills that she missed on the first visit :)

Wonderful pics of Beauty & the Beast :thumbsup2 And I also agree that the seating at Playhouse Disney leaves a lot to be desired :rolleyes1 Love the improvised speeder pics :goodvibes

Sorry that this TR is almost done, but I'd love to hear all about your upcoming dream trip!

:scared1:

As soon as you decide to divulge, tell me the dates!

I'm excited for a DIS meet!

Great! Funny how it takes someone else telling them it will be fun for kids (and husbands! :rotfl2:) to believe things sometimes! She's going to have so much fun!

I can't wait to get started on it! :yay:

The difference in crowds seems to be making a difference, you're getting a lot done!

I've seen LMA once I think....and it was HOT....so you definitely have to time it right.....for sure.

Muppets needs an update for sure, but holds a nostalgic place in my heart.

I tried to like Muppets 3D, I really, really did. But it just wasn't for me sadly. I think I heard some chatter about it being totally re-done but I'm not sure.... ?

With the Muppets getting more publicity lately, it would be nice to get a remodeled Muppets attraction....

After the make-your-own-speeder-bike fun, we moved along to our next attraction, the Great Movie Ride. I really like the look of this theatre.

We snaked thru the interior line that moved quite quickly to the giant movie room where we caught brief glances of the movies about to be showcased on the ride.

I’ve only seen the gangster version of this ride, never the cowboy. I was really hoping to see a new version…..

2009_0824pics0085.jpg

Alas, it was the gangster one again. Maybe next time!

On the way out, something caught Ariana’s eye and she moved in closer to check it out….. ah! The Jungle Book! A favorite!

2009_0824pics0086.jpg

Next up?

2009_0824pics0087.jpg

2009_0824pics0088.jpg

From Expert to Beginner, Everyone’s a Winner! Love it! Those popsicle sticks are perfect!

I’m on the LEFT Danica!

2009_0824pics0089.jpg

Something new at the end of ride, I hadn’t seen this before.

2009_0824pics0091.jpg

Heading back down Sunset Boulevard, I grabbed another shot of my beloved brooms. I’ve yet to try the Brown Derby…. I’ve always heard great things about it, but I’m leery of the two credits needed on the dining plan. Mmmmmm, decisions, decisions.

2009_0824pics0092.jpg

A couple of shop shots along the way…. you know, I don’t think I’ve ever gone inside!

2009_0824pics0093.jpg

2009_0824pics0094.jpg

And we were back to the runaway elevator….

2009_0824pics0095.jpg

And the rockin’ road trip…..

2009_0824pics0096.jpg

This time around, we opted to split up…. George taking Demetri onto the ToT and Alex, Ariana and myself going to RnR Coaster.

After Alex channeled his inner Steven Tyler….

2009_0824pics0097.jpg

We were on our way!

2009_0824pics0099.jpg

2009_0824pics0100.jpg

2009_0824pics0101.jpg

In the gift shop I really liked these pink bobbly Mickey Heads.

2009_0824pics0103.jpg

Whoops! Alex is once again channeling Steven Tyler… or something.

2009_0824pics0104.jpg

Back up Sunset Boulevard and it was time to check out One Man’s Dream. I loved the displays in here and Demetri was enjoying his role as Vanna White pointing out everything for y’all.

2009_0824pics0129.jpg

(See the Mickey Head in this one? Hint, it's upside down!)

It was quite a feat getting Ariana to leave this particular display.

2009_0824pics0133.jpg

We didn’t stay for the movie, we had one more thing we wanted to do before it was getting close to our ADR…. Can you guess?

2009_0824pics0135.jpg

2009_0824pics0137.jpg

Again, Danica, I’m on the LEFT. :rotfl2:

2009_0824pics0138.jpg

At this point we bid adieu to George. He was heading back to the Pop to get a head start on our packing… (and likely grab a nap too!) We were leaving fairly early the next morning and he wanted us to enjoy the rest of the evening not having to worry about that last minute scramble to pack up.

Slowly walking towards the restaurant, we were about 20 minutes early, so we ducked into a little shop that had tea and snacks and books and this little seating area….

2009_0824pics0142.jpg

Anyone know where this is? I’ve forgotten the name….?

MinnieNurse! I laughed when I saw this on the TV and had to take the picture …. I miss you!

2009_0824pics0143.jpg

Anyways, soon enough it was time to head over to…..

2009_0824pics0141.jpg

The Sci Fi Dine In Theatre!

This place was a hoot! My only complaint was the check in. The waiting area is simply too small for such a popular place. You quickly run out of places to sit and then you quickly run out of places to stand. The spill over outside the door was crazy, at least on the night we were there and several times I had to listen for a second time the names they were calling out. No buzzers at this place, unless they normally have them and they happened to not be working on the night we were there…..?

Anyways, once seated, we had a fabulous time! Our server was fantastic and had a great sense of humor. After proclaiming to the people in front of us their gracious offer of covering our meals, he was very quick to recommend great dishes and quickly bring our drinks.

Settled in and ordered up…..

2009_0824pics0144.jpg

2009_0824pics0145.jpg

We sat back and watched the cheesiness that was on the big movie screen.

2009_0824pics0147.jpg

2009_0824pics0149.jpg

My butcher steak, cooked perfectly.

2009_0824pics0152.jpg

Demetri and Alex gave their dinners two thumbs up.

2009_0824pics0153.jpg

Dessert, peanut butter and chocolate cake for me…. Vanilla ice cream for the kiddies…..

2009_0824pics0156.jpg

And it was time to head out. We very much enjoyed our Sci Fi experience!

CONTINUED IN NEXT POST....

Slooooooowly making our way back towards the exits, we stopped by the American Idol board and I told the boys to give me their best, “I’m going to Hollywood baby!”

2009_0824pics0157.jpg

Yeah, they need to work on that I think. :happytv:

Couldn’t resist grabbing this one….. any other Losties out there?

2009_0824pics0159.jpg

This shot with the lights looked much better on my camera then it turned out here. Oh well.

2009_0824pics0160.jpg

Ariana’s favorite Princess…..

2009_0824pics0161.jpg

And then we were finally at the end of our last day of our trip, at the last park of the trip and the last picture of the night.

2009_0824pics0163.jpg

That about sums it up, don’t you think?

Next up: Favs and Not-so-Favs of DHS day, Departure Day and Last Thoughts

Another great update, loving all your pics.

You guys sure do love TSM I can't believe how many times you rode it in one day. Can it be that the hype has died down at last?

I know what you mean about Sci Fi and their "waiting area", from what I remember there is one bench against the wall and thats about it?

Ooh me me, I'm a Lost-y and I am loving Season 6 so far, but am still like WTH at most parts. DF thinks that they are not going to wrap everything up like they said because theres not enough time. I sure hope they at least wrap up the important questions though.

awww, what a sad last picture! that is truly the way i feel on the last day in the last park :guilty: :sad2:
ive never tried sci-fi but im vowing to make it a point on my sept. trip! :thumbsup2 i love all your photos of one mans dream. that exhibit always consumes me... i could stay in there all day! to me, walt feels like a long lost uncle or grandpa. :wizard:

Great update!!!:thumbsup2 (as usual;))

Love all your pictures!! Yay for riding TSM again...and again! How fun!:goodvibes

Ooohhh...I really want to try Sci-Fi!! It sounds like you had a great time!!

Those are some really sad faces in your last pic! But...I can totally understand...the last day is always sooo sad!!:sad2:

Aww...I can't believe your TR is almost finished! I've enjoyed reading it so much! I'm looking forward to your last thoughts.....:)

You know, I didn't like the Cowboy one as much as I wanted to - but I think it was just that I had an awful actor, so the ride wasn't as good as it usually is.

And thank you for pointing out which side was you! :rotfl: Twice!

I think you may have done better than me.. I forget.

I need to go in One Man's Dream - I think I'd appreciate it a lot more now.

And is that the Writer's Stop? Or Starring Rolls? Does either of those sound familiar?

And yum! 50's Prime Time looks good - I liked it when I went, but nobody else seemed to..

Everyone does look sad.. but at least no one was crying, right?

Oh no, the lines are definately still very long. Ariana's GAC card allows us to line up in the FastPass line to avoid the crowds. :crowded: She's not tooooo bad when it comes to long lines and crowds so we don't use the GAC when we don't have to, but that wait would be too much for her.

I know what you mean about Sci Fi and their "waiting area", from what I remember there is one bench against the wall and thats about it?

That's it! You can't stray too far from that area either or you won't hear your name being called out and would be out of luck.

Oh-ho! Now do you read DarkUFO or Vozzek or Erica like an obsessed viewer like me who must know what every single thing means, or are you normal? :rotfl2:

There's only 9 episodes left (tonite!) so I also do think a few things will be left hanging, but that the biggies will be explained. :scratchin

George and I have often talked about what we would do when ;) we win the lottery. Having a Florida villa is one of the first things I'd buy and then I ... I mean, we  could go whenever we want!

I was a little distracted in One Man's Dream, we kept getting separated from the kids and Demetri actually almost knocked a display over at one point  :faint: and of course we missed the movie, so I definately need to get in their on my own for closer inspection. Long lost Uncle... a perfect description! :goodvibes

I've heard great things about Sci Fi at lunch, their burgers especially. When we get there next, that's what we'll do. :thumbsup2

I can't believe I'm almost done too. It's been great recording the trip this way.... I sometimes go back and just re-read it to relive the memories and it makes me smile every time. I'm a sap at heart.

You know, I didn't like the Cowboy one as much as I wanted to - but I think it was just that I had an awful actor, so the ride wasn't as good as it usually is.

I thought the same thing this time about the gangster one! It was a female gangster and by no means do I want to cause any offense to anyone, but it just wasn't the same when the gangster was wearing a skirt. A bunch of us in the car were giving the old sideways glances with our eyes to one another.... oh well. You can't win them all.

And thank you for pointing out which side was you! :rotfl: Twice!

I think you may have done better than me.. I forget.

Heehee. Alex kills me on this ride.... no matter how many times I think I've done well and I must have done better than him this time.... nope. He beats me. Can you cheat on TSM? :rotfl2:

I need to go in One Man's Dream - I think I'd appreciate it a lot more now.

I think that's a big part of it for sure. :goodvibes

Oooo, the Writer's Stop sounds right!

And yum! 50's Prime Time looks good - I liked it when I went, but nobody else seemed to..

Oh not 50's Prime Time.... I'm not really digging that place.... Sci Fi! I can't remember, have you been to Sci Fi ??

Everyone does look sad.. but at least no one was crying, right?

Well I won't say that no one was crying..... Perhaps, just perhaps, some glistening was going on.

I used to read the episode guides on the US website (as it took forever for the UK to get the series after the US), but now we are only one ep behind.

The last ep we watched was Ben-centric (Dr Linus). I have started to like Ben alot more since last season (with his funny quips). I think I am going to leave myself unspoiled this season and just be surprised. I think DF might have looked into a few things, he also said that there is another old character coming back soon apparently. He reads Gamefaqs boards and sees stuff on there about it.

Ack! I'm sorry. I meant Sci-Fi. I always get the names mixed up. (And yet I remember Writer's Stop? :confused3)

I did like Sci-Fi! I went in.. 2006, I want to say? 2006 or 2007. It was fun! Although the movies, if you stay too long, get on your nerves.

Cute picture of the boys by AIE!

Glad you enjoyed the Sci Fi. It is one of our favorite restaurants. My parents get a kick out of those cheesy sci-fi movies. Can't wait to eat there again in April!

No, not the end! :sad2:

Ah, you're caught up then. LOVED Dr. Linus. I don't read spoilers, just analyze the heck out of each episode after the fact. I don't even like watching the commercial previews! I'm with you, I want to be surprised and shocked as the events happen on my screen. :scared1:

:rotfl: Yes! Just when we were on our maybe third loop of the movies, we were good to go. Likely, that's by design to get you out of there!
