What discount to use?? Kids Visa offer or 35% Moderate??

I have PORS booked for 5 nights 6 days with the QSDP. Now they are offering the Visa kids play, stay, and dine for free. How do I find out what's a better deal? and do I have to use the Visa Disney card? Probably a silly question. I have the card, but hubby doesn't believe in credit cards. We only use our debit card, and that's how we always pay for Disney. I am confused... because we want more days in the park that's offered and a extra night in the resort than the Visa deal. What to do???

We were booked with the 35% off room only pin for CSR standard room from 5/23/10 to 5/30/10 for 7 nights, 8 days MYW base ticket with regular dining plan for 2 adults and 2 children between ages of 3 and 9 for $2617. With the new Kids for Free Disney Visa offer, we were able to reduce this to $2534 (with the dining upgrade included). Not a huge difference, but enough to have made the call worth it! :thumbsup2

That's awesome!! Did you have to use the Visa card?

I don't know for sure but I would think you would have to use the card. I don't see why you couldn't just put it on the card and then pay the balance off in full as soon as it shows up on your statement? I used to only use debit cards but then I realized as long as I was responsible I could do a lot better by using a credit card, earning points and then paying it off in full each month. Now I charge pretty much everything, and always pay it off, with the exception of a cuople of disney trips where I did use the 0% APR for a few months. I have earned about $500 in rewards to spend at Disney over the past three years. It hasn't cost me a thing, I even have my account set up to automatically pay the entire balance each month, so don't have to worry about anything.

Well.. except for those pesky billing cycle changes.

(Seriously, watch out for those. You should still always check every credit card balance every month and pay those manually. The terms and conditions are weasel-ly.)

Friendly advice from someone who has heard too many horror stories.

oh, whoopsie.. 2 kids ages 6 and 7.. May 22-27th...

I'm using a standard room and 6 day base tickets. If you are staying preferred it will make a small difference in favor of the 35%; if you are using add ons, that would be the same cost reguardless of which plan you use.

package with 35% = 1971
package with free kids = 1788

Well, it truly depends on the number of children in the party. Remember, kids stay free anyways so the discount would be on the meals and park tickets. It seems to me that the 35% rooms would probably be a better deal. There are other threads discussing the same thing.

I think the easiest thing is just compare discounts

basically a kids ticket is about 215-250 depending on 5-8 days.
QSDP is 10 per kid per night

The max is 4 people per room listed on the promotion so the most free kids you get if you have 2 adults is 2 or 3 if only 1 adult. Kids are only 3-9.

For a 5 night stay with 2 kids

food-10 X 2 X 5 = 100
tickets- 215 X 2 = 430 total discount 530

seven nights

food 10 X 2 X 7 = 140
tickets 250 X 2 = 500 total discount 640

These are better then the gc at value and moderates
better then 25 off at values for most dates and slightly better then moderate discounts. Not better for deluxes GC is 750 or at high end places 35-40% is much better.

Good luck

Hmm, interesting. That has never happened to me yet. I do keep an eye on things to make sure I've got enough money to pay the bill and everything. I like having automatic payments as a fall back incase I forget to pay the bill.

I booked this deal this morning and was told the deposit must be made on a Disney Visa, but the balance can be paid however you like.

For us, kids free is better. We are planning on upgrading our GADGAD tix to 7 days, buying two extra tix for the littlest kids and using the 30% discount on a value. It comes to $1,500 without food. Kids free would be less than $1,800 with the QSDP and I doubt all of us could get 2 CS meals and snacks a day for 7 days for under $300. If we can get kids free, we plan to upgrade to the DDP, making our total just over $2,000. I added up the places/things we would likely it with the DDP and it came out to $1,330. This is without desserts at most meals and with 12% tax. So, it would save us just about $800 (after food) compared to our current planned discounts.

I called yesterday and the guy ran the numbers for me and found that I would save $240 instead of the 25% off discount! Awesome!

You can call and ask the Travel Co. CM to run the numbers for you, I did yesterday.

I just changed my reservation today from the 35% PIN to the Visa kids eat/play free, upgraded to regular DDP. It was a better deal for me, not a ton though.

I had to tell the CM the code from the Visa email before she would enter it in.

I'm curious - Looking at your signature, you show 2 adults, 4 kids (1 under 3). So staying at a value, if you are all going, you would have to be staying in a suite right?

I was looking at the prices because I was wondering if you were including all the children in the free dining. Others had said you would only be able to get 2 free children because the deal says max occupancy of 4. Did you book with those numbers? I know people would love to hear that someone got 3 free kids in the room with two adults.

I received this offer in my email and cannot find it anymore!!!!!:scared1:

Is the code specific to each family or just a regular code that everyone gets? If it is just a normal one can you pass that along to me? I am sooooo frustrated....:guilty::sad2:who sent the email? I remember looking at it really quick and saying....oooohhhh I need to look into this....then had to rush out the door to go get kidos....

help!

Which offer are you referring to?

The visa free kids deal is open to any disney visa card holder. The cm's on the phone will probably know the code. However I believe you can find the codes at disneyrewards.com.

yes! Thanks! the Disney Visa Card one...we don't have one, but if we sign up will we get it??? I can't find that email ANYWHERE...but I think it was being advertised on the Disney Store website...I think???

No, haven't booked yet as we were waiting to see if any other offers will be released for May; but we aren't going alone. My mom will be in a different room with an 11 and 13 year old and one of our kids would be booked with her. We can't get this promo yet, but I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be released to the public or we will apply for the DV and see if we get the e-mail then. If neither works (or if we don't get a better PIN before we book,) then we will go with our current GADGAD/30% off plans.
