Funny Faces and Haircuts:The Princess and The Duck-First Trip*3/9 Earning Our Ears

We grabbed a breakfast sandwich and a couple breakfast platters and grabbed a seat in the dining room. DH and I ate quickly since the kids can eat on the go in the stroller and headed out pretty fast toward the docks.
The kids munched on their pancakes we had brought with us and we waited for our last ride to the MK. It was a beautiful morning and we could tell already that it was going to be warm! Luckily it was not as warm as the day before as we were soon thankful!

I have to admit the ride was bitter sweet. The kids seemed to sense that we were nearing the end and DD even humored me and wore the Minnie ears that I had bought her. LOL Before we knew it we were jumping off the boat and making our way through the turnstiles for the last time this trip. Heartbreaking, I know.

Although it was EMH our first stop was to get Mickey ears of course! Could they hide this place anymore? LOL We had spent the entire trip looking for Donald duck themed ears and the closest we had come was the Donald “butt” hat and it was just too warm. We found a pair of ears that had Mickey, Pluto, Goofy and Donald on them and DS was very happy with them. DD on the other hand had a slew of Princess ears to choose from and instead of one she wanted all of them, lol. We finally decided on a pink pair with a crown and sparkly ears that said Princess.

Thank goodness we were the only ones in that side of the shop since we took forever deciding and there really isn’t room for more than one family at a time to stand directly in front of that section of ears. We paid and handed them over for their names to be added and the kids were officially eared’. Is that a word? Maybe in the wonderful world of Disney it is.

After earning our ears we headed down a more crowded main street than our first day even though it was still EMH and the park wasn’t open yet. Our last “first” walk toward the castle…

DH was going picture happy and took pictures of everything he could and more than enough of the back of me walking in front of him. I will spare you all from those photos. LOL We did manage to grab a last photo in front of the castle before heading through.

Our ultimate goal was Dumbo but since it was our last morning we were taking our time and not rushing (what WERE we thinking, always Dumbo THEN take your time). We had walked right by the Sword in the Stone many times during the trip and never once noticed it! The kids didn’t know the movie but it is one of my favorites. My photography teacher in high school looked exactly like Merlin when he turned into the squirrel. I am not kidding, it was eerie. LOL The kids tried their hardest to be the chosen one but alas we were defeated by the sword.

By the time we made our way over to Dumbo can anyone guess what the wait time was???? 25 minutes!!! I believe we wasted a lot of time picking our ears! That was the longest we waited for ANY ride our entire trip minus Soarin’. There was no way putting it off and it was likely to get worse so we jumped in line. I’m not sure what we are staring at in this photo but I want to say it was a bird in the tree.

The line was HOT and crowded and made the kids grumpy. Not at all sure it was worth waiting for this time. But we got our last ride on Dumbo and that was the important thing at the moment.

Our plan for the day was pretty open. We knew what rides we wanted to redo and that meeting the Fairies was our goal but other than that we had no real plan. After Dumbo we headed to the always favorite Winnie the Pooh. There was no wait except for this:

That’s right another pouting session. No clue what it was about, could have been anything really. Most people would be inclined to think that Disney had tired her out and that is why she was so moody, but we know better. This use to happen on a daily basis at home and now it still happens pretty frequently. She is a very emotional little girl. She also seems to think that she is in charge in the family and the two of us have been having a lively debate over that one for a couple weeks now. :lovestruc

Next up was either Peter Pan or Small World, I don’t remember… Does anyone recognize this line queue, I am pretty sure it was Small World.

It looks like there was a line but I am sure we didn’t wait long. I believe we grabbed Peter Pan fast passes at some point. After the ride DS wanted to ride Mickey’s Philharmagic (and so did I) but we were afraid that if DD and I rode it would cause us to miss rope drop at ToonTown and that was a NO NO if we wanted to see the Fairies. Instead we decided to split up and while DD and I headed to ToonTown DS and DH would watch Donald again.

DH and DS entered MP and DD and I started off toward the fairies. I had taken 2 steps before I realized that DH had our only camera! Since we had decided that DD and I would walk (easier to run into the line queue without having to stop and take her out of the stroller) I picked DD up and ran back and entered MP and managed to stop DH right before they entered the loading area. Then DD and I sprinted toward ToonTown….

Next up: Our first rope drop and meeting Tinkerbell!

Oh no, last day! I know that feeling all too well.

Do they personalize the ears for free? I've never gotten them personalized. Maybe I'll make that a must-do this time! Although I've heard that they have some "issues" with putting nicknames on them and DS (J.J.) has a nickname and doesn't identify with his "real" name!

Glad you got the last ride on dumbo, and winnie the pooh with a slight detour! DS is moody like that too, he's just very emotional and has a hard time with change. Today he started crying at naptime because he missed our "old house". We've lived here for almost a YEAR now! How does he even remember our old house?

I will say, I do believe that queue is small world. The line looks long, so I'm glad it went fast!

Good thing you remembered your camera at the last moment! Can't wait to see how the rest of your day went!

Loved the MT pics! We've never been but it looks like fun! Plus you get burger king type hats. What could be better? :lmao:

Thanks for sharing the pouting pics. We've all been there.
So sad your last day is here. :sad2:

The personalization isn't free but I don't think it was that much. I think it is about $3-$4 if I remember right. They have different lettering styles to choose from as well.

:lmao:The burger king hat did make it worth the money. :rotfl:

She is a real drama queen lately and it is about to drive us all a bit nutty. :dance3:

So sad it is the last morning! Cute ears! Why is it that Dumbo is the quintessential ride at Disney? I am sure we will be doing the same thing--the Dumbo Dash so we can get DD on it at least once over our vacation though I refuse to run anyone over to get there. :goodvibes: I hope you are able to meet the Fairies--a sure thing on our to do list too.

Don't you just love having a spirited child? There are some days were I just shake my head in disbelief. ;)

The ears looked great! I hear you on the shop size. That place is DINKY! Glad you enjoyed the last morning so far. Anxious to hear how rope drop goes!

Not sure why Dumbo is so important but your right WDW would not be the same without it for kids. It was the first ride they recognized and the first one they wanted to ride.

There are some days when I am amazed that she is able to spend the entire day mad or upset at someone or something. It is entertaining to say the least. :confused3

Coming up soon! The kid's birthday party is tomorrow so I have been busy planning it and getting things ready....

Just found this TR & LOVE IT! Read it all in one day/night & now I'm up way past my bedtime. Good thing, though, since our potty-training 2 year old wet the bed. Silly me, I forgot the "night" undies! Oh well. Hope you get to see the fairies!

Seems like it is one thing after another in my house right now. We made and emergancy trip to visit family Easter weekend since my grandma had been in the hospital and on the way down there I got a blinding pain in my tooth. Turns out now I need a root canal and all my wisdom teeth cut out. Yay! I will finish up as soon as I can! Thank you all for being so paitent!!

:( I hope you are doing better! Yuck--I have had both wisdom teeth removed and a root canal. Prayers for your Grandmother!!
