Whispering Canyon Cafe
and maybe a surprise or two.

Here we go

Ooooo I can't wait to read your reviews AND more importantly see your pix!! :yay:

I'm looking forward to what you thought about Chefs Mickey and Whispering Canyon Cafe. Two places I've booked that have had some mixed reviews.

Waiting patiently....:rolleyes1

We arrive at the Poly our resort at noon on 2/24/10. Check-in room was not ready yet as expected, We have reservations at 12:30 no crowds got seated right away.

Our waitress is friendly and sees our first time buttons welcomes us and ask if we are on the Dining Plan. She ask to look at my key to the world card and says you are on the deluxe plan and explains it all. Now I have researched the plan and knew it well mostly thru dis-boards, but it was nice of her and she gave a great accurate explanation of the plan and how the credits work.

Now to the food, I started with the crab cakes. The looked a bit dry and too heavily breaded, but once I bit into them they were great and I could not get enough. I wish there was less breaded crust but they were good and I would and did get them again at a later point in the trip. Here is the pic.

I also had the Steak Plate which was very juicy sirloin I ordered it medium but it came more medium well, I imagine it was difficult because it was such a thin cut, however despite its lack of thickness and being slightly over cooked it was delicious, so far so good. Here is a pic

The DW had a Kona salad and Kona Club Sandwich
The salad was nicely plated with a nice dressing just the right amount, and my wife absolutely loved the Kona Club sandwhich she thought the bacon was just right. She thought it was a good size, something that we will come to learn portions are generally large.

The kids had a hot dog and a burger, my son loved the burger but he loved this even more.

Cost not including tip was $87.38
We were seated right away slightly before our reseveration. Service was good and she did a great job explaining how th DxDP worked. Food was served hot and it was good.

Next Review Chef Mickey's and our kids got to open it with Mickey. Talk about Pixie Dust its their first character meal

It looks like you have posted the link to the actual photo page on flickr, not the image itself. Technically with Flickr terms of service you do need to link back to the photo page. Here is what I do. On the photo I want to post go to the All Sizes button above the picture and then on that page choose the size of photo you want to have display and copy the link in the Grab the Photo's URL field. Use that with the insert image button on the boards. Then select the whole IMG tag area and click the Insert link button. There paste the url for the photo page, such as the ones you posted in your first review post. This should display the photos in the post as well as link them back to flickr.

Sounds a little confusing but hope it helps.

Wow, that desert at Kona looks di-vine! White chocolate cheesecake with chocolate fondue-I want one now!!!! (Hmm, I could get ready quickly, jump in the car, and be there for a late but expensive lunch! :wizard: I guess not . . .)

Love the first review and looking forward to more! Since hubby and I have DxDDP in December, I especially love the reviews where others have the same plan and what they think of it.

So we check-in at the Poly have lunch at the Kona Cafe and go swimming in the rain. Yes in the rain it was 70 degrees and as my dd-5 said we won't notice the rain in the pool. We get a text room is ready go to our room beautiful and we get ready to go to Chef Mickey's.

So our ressie is at 5pm. I didn't know this was first seating we get there at like 4:50. There are a couple families there already taking group pics and a CM comes up to me and ask if our kids would like to opening Chef Mickey's with Mickey Mouse. Heard of this but not sure how it works so we say yes of course. The CM ask us if our kids our good with charcters and not scared. I say oh yea their fine. I have no idea if this is true or not this is our very first charcter meal, but no way they weren't going to try. Well here are some pics of it, I have more on my photopass account, I will post those if anyone can tell me how to do it before I get my cd.

Ok so clearly they were not scared. I cannot tell you how cool this was I have been in the world for less than 5 hours. It's our first trip for everybody, the first charcter they meet is Mickey and they get to do this. This trip was perfect and its only been 5 hours
