What can you tell me about Akershus bfast?

Never eaten here before but booked a breakfast for our upcoming 6/10 trip as my little girls are princess-crazy. I haven't really found a detailed menu except that it sounds like fairly standard breakfast food. Is it served family style (like Ohana?)? Anyone have any specifics about what they serve, and if you had a good experience? Thanks for any info!

There's a cold bar that you can go up to buffet-style with fruits, pastries, smoked salmon, and the like. You'll also be served a family style hot plate with eggs, bacon, potatoes, and sausage.

The food is alright (pretty Disney standard for breakfast), but the main reason to go would be for the character interaction and the included photo with Belle -- I found the princesses to be less rushed here than they were at CRT.

We ate at Akershus for the 1st time last year. The cold buffet was a bit disappointing - nothing much on it we really cared for. The hot plate was pretty good, especially the potato casserole. We had an excellent server and good character interaction with the princesses. Overall, it was a good experience but not a favorite of ours.

This is a favorite character meal for us! We dine there twice per trip - both times for breakfast

The cold buffet isn't wow but it does have fruit, pastries etc. The main meal is family style - we all love the potato dish!!

Princesses there are wonderful - much less rushed than CRT!

You've pretty much had everything answered. I just want to add to the potato talk....dude, the potatoes there are awesome. Do not miss it. :thumbsup2

This is quite a build up for a potato dish . . .of course, I don't think I've ever met a potato I didn't like;) Thanks again everyone!

We'll be going again at the end of the month. My younger DD has been talking about the potatoes for 18 months :)

So what is included in the pastries? Donuts or cinnamon rolls? Also, are the famous mickey waffles or pancakes served?

My DD is super picky...hoping they'll have something she'll like.

Thanks!

We liked this buffet better than any other (we've been to them all). When you first walk in, you have your picture taken with Belle in her big "golden" dress and I believe that the picture is included in the price of the breakfast. The other princesses walk around and I think that there were about 4 other princesses the day that we went (Snow White, Ariel, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty). My dd is not a big breakfast eater and they were able to bring her cold cereal from the back, so if you have a picky eater-it doesn't hurt to ask for something other than what is on the buffet.

on the buffet there are not waffles or pancakes. I read somewhere (here on Dis) you can ask for them but I've never tried that.

They do have cinnamon rolls but they're not impressive. They're OK but kind of small and not very moist. Also have biscuits and other bread type offerings. No doughnuts as I recall.

The hot items brought to the table were just average in my opinion, but the pastries are what I remember the most. A variety of muffins, kinda small, but very good. Awesome strawberry/creamcheese & a savory one too. Also some smoked salmon on the cold bar too. We've been twice & both times the photographer stood back & insisted I get a couple of photos of my GDD & Belle before he took the one you get included.

We were wowed by this breakfast. I felt like it was simple , yet delicious. It could have been the strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and blueberries on the cold buffet. I find berries hard to find on most buffets, this was a pleasant surprise and we pigged out on them!!!! Add their potatoes to that and we were in heaven!!!!!!!

I am so excited to hear all of the great reviews (especially on the apparently fantastic potato casserole:worship:)! We are really looking forward to it . . .thanks again!

I have taken my nieces here twice and the food is excellent and the character interaction cannot be beat. Click on my Jan 09 thread for a ton of pics and full review

Yup, that potato/hash-browned style casserole is awesome! The cold buffet was also nice - as I recall, the fruit was very good and there was cereal and yogurt, etc. I'm not a big fan of gooey-sticky sweet rolls in the morning so if they had something like that, I would have walked right by it.

It was nice to be able to get some items from the cold buffet, and then have the hot food brought to your table family-style. The bacon was great, the scrambled eggs were wonderful, and again those potatoes - yummy!
