Same Restaurant Every Night!?!?!

I have a friend who's going to Disney for the first time ever next month. He has reservations at the same restaurant every night for dinner. I told him I thought that was crazy, since he doesn't even know if he'll like the restaurant, let alone if his whole family would, and that's putting all of his eggs into one basket.

I would never plan to eat at the same place every night, I'd get bored with even my favorite restaurant after a couple nights. But to plan to eat at the same place without even knowing if you'll like it, just seems like a horrible idea to me.

Does anyone see any logic in this plan? Because I don't. And I'm really trying to understand what his thinking was with this.

It's his vacation; wouldn't make a difference to me. I never give people advice on how they should vacation. My 20+ visits to WDW only makes me an expert on how I want to vacation there.

hmmmmm I could eat a different entree at Le Cellier or Tutto Italia every night.....My hubby even said he would love the filet or the prime rib at le Cellier or the steak entree at Tutto more then once.
But we really do like variety

Sounds like someone who eats to live not lives to eat, which is beyond my comprehension.;)

To each his own, but it does seem rather bizarre. Personally, I couldn't imagine eating at the same restaurant every day even if it was my most favorite WDW restaurant. Hope it works out for him and his family and it doesn't become a negative facet of their 1st WDW trip.

I could see eating at Kona every night, but not Ohana. There is more variety on the Kona menu.

Beyone my comprehension too, but that's the really weird part, because he likes to try different restaurants at home.

I'm practically begging him to change at least a couple of the nights. His "I don't want to have to travel very far" excuse isn't flying with me because he's at a monorail resort, and even if he didn't leave the resort, why not mix up Kona and Ohana reservations.

I really think he just didn't do any research at all. Actually I know he didn't, since he didn't even realize there were two restaurants at his resort. And actually the only reason I mentioned Kona in the first place was because I said something about his getting his coffee there in the morning, since he won't like the Nescafe stuff.

There are a few things that drive me crazy, and Disney planning, or lack of, is one of them. And I just really want him to have a good trip, because otherwise I know he'll never want to go back, and I'd love for us to go together sometime.

exactly.......i know people like this.........to them the vaca. is about the trip, not the food.........like.......well we had a nice day at the park now lets go down to the restaurant and have supper. whereas we, as in my family, make ADR's and build our touring plan around them. the first time we went down, many moons ago, we did not eat once (sit down) in the parks and did one character meal on the Empress Lily.

I'm hoping his ADR's are for Kona and not Ohana. He said he'd check and let me know.

He's eating at one restaurant the entire vacation and he doesn't even know what one it is?:confused3

You know it's likely he's thinking of a chain kind of restaurant with all types of selections. So he could eat pasta one night, burgers the next, e.t.c.

I highly doubt he realizes how small some of the menus at Disney are in comparison.
And if it's Ohana he will eat the exact same meal the entire time:rolleyes:

Why don't you offer to book him some reservations? Then you get to Disney plan as well:goodvibes

Yeah that is kind of weird. With the variety of restaurants i wouldnt want to do that i dont care how convenient that is. I love Ohana and limit to twice during our stay but agree i couldnt do it every night. Its a very heavy meal especially since i pig out on the bread pudding:goodvibes

This kind of makes sense. You stay at a hotel, you eat at that hotel.

I wouldn't do it, though.

Is he even going to the parks??? This "I don't want to have to travel very far" statement is INSANE :scared1:. If he has dinner at his resort each night, he will have to "travel" back if he is still at the parks. Will he go back for fireworks, etc? Doesn't he realize there are places to eat within the parks that are NOT at his resort?

And you said a TA booked his trip?? Clearly NOT a Disney specialist TA. What a waste... that really chaps my hide. ;)

And like you said, you want to return with them some time, and he's going to come home with an awful impression of WDW.

If it's Ohana he's going to get really bored really quickly with the fixed menu, but if that's what he wants, no big deal.

How many Disney guests are actually back in the hotel where they're staying every night at dinnertime? I know I'm not.

My brother actually did something similar last November with his wife and 2 kids. He stayed at the Animal Kingdom and I guess just planned on eating in the hotel most nights. We didn't discuss much before he went but when he came back he said "we really loved Boma the first night but by the third night in a row, we got a little tired of it..." and I was thinking THIRD NIGHT???? We loved Boma too but we're not even doing it once this time 'cuz we want to try new things....in fact we only have 2 repeats from our 2006 trip - Teppan Edo (which was Teppanyaki when we went) and Sci Fi (both my boys requests.)

To each his own! A vacation is something different to all of us.

While I don't eat at the same place every night, I have been known to eat at a favorite restaurant twice during a trip. At the Poly, Ohana would definitely be one that I would be willing to do twice.

Surely he must be planning on visiting a park though? How long is he going for?

If you dont know what's out there, you may never know what you're missing. If he really likes the restaurant or if food isn't that important to him and more of a necessity, then I doubt it will impact his vacation. If he really feels like he missed out in the food department, you could still suggest going together sometime and offer to introduce him to some new places. Don't worry about it. To me Disney is about the whole experience.
