Larisa & Nick 7/18/09 - invitation voted best of 2009!!

I posted this over on the cake thread but figured I should include some pics here as well. So here is our cake! The flavors were carrot cake, strawberry shortcake, and marble cake with raspberry and chocolate mousse. My inspiration was a cake I had seen in Martha Stewart Weddings, and our baker (Peace of Cake, in Stevensville, Maryland) customized the detail to match designs I had created in our invitations.

I some your signature on another thread and had to come peak at some of your photos. Your wedding looked beautiful, I love the colors and all the little items like the carriage and the beautiful decorations. The parasols :umbrella: were what peaked my interest in your siggy photo since I used them for pictures at my wedding too (see my signature :goodvibes) Congratulations, you had a beautiful wedding!

I love the parasols!!! :thumbsup2

I loved our programs. I decided against a complicated little booklet because I literally made these the week before the wedding. They were just a single page, legal size paper, rolled up in a scroll and tied with ribbon. At the church they were displayed in a treasure chest style trunk and the design of the program was loosely based on a treasure map. I thought this was a fun way to keep with the whole fairytale, make-believe theme we had going on. Also our Gospel reading ended with the line "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." and it all just tied in perfectly.

And the actual program when you unroll it.

Your dress was so beautiful. It fit you perfectly. All the colors are perfectly coordinated too. I love the bridesmaids bouquets with their dresses! Can't wait to see and read more!

Here are some hair pictures! I was so incredibly happy with how my hair turned out, as well as all of my girls. We all had flowers in our hair, too. I love this pic of the girls during the ceremony!

My hair is very long, so there was a lot to work with for the updo. I also "borrowed" hair extensions from a close friend who wore them in her wedding the year before. They were the super high quality expensive kind that impressed even the girls at the salon, but not the kind of thing I would ever buy on my own, so it was great to have as my something borrowed. My inspiration for my hair is a traditional Ukrainian style with a braid around the top like a crown. I didn't want this exact look, I wanted something softer in the front, and then pinned curls in the back, in addition to the braid.

The girls at the salon had a hard time with this at first because even though my hair is long, its also on the thin side, so it was hard to get the nice volume of the braid. So after 2 trials, and all working together to accomplish this look, they came up with a plan to use the extensions as the braid. We went with 2 braids, which were made entirely of the extensions. Everything else is my natural hair, which was just about the color of the extensions, but I had some highlights and lowlights added before the wedding so it matched exactly. The braids were pinned into place, and I had my soft rolled back look in the front, and then gorgeous tucked under curls in the back. So here is the final product!

I love the look of the half up half down, or even all down soft curls, but I ultimately went with a full updo. For one, my hair does not hold curl for more than 5 seconds, and I didn't want to be worried the whole time about my hair. Also, July in Maryland is HOT, and with outdoor pics, I didn't want to look sweaty! All in all, it was perfect and I couldn't have been more pleased!

Wow! Beautiful hair!

I also liked how you did your programs...You tied everything together so well!

Hi Larisa

Your wedding looks amazing from start to finish. Hope you had a lovely time. Just wondered how did you do the raised gold lettering of your names on the invitations.

Hi Leanne ... I used a custom rubber stamp and gold embossing powder. Tedious, yes. But so worth it!!!

Congratulations!

I just voted for you :goodvibes

Larisa,
I wanted to let you know that your bridesmaids dresses and flowers are inspiration for my wedding color scheme.
Thanks for posting and Congratulations!:goodvibes

Hi Larissa
I just wanted to say that I thought your wedding was beautiful!!!
Would you be kind enough to tell me how long was the hair of the bridesmaid, on the left of the back row, at the time, I love her hair with the three roses and would like mine to be similar for my VR. My hair is about shoulder length at the moment but I am growing it!!! Is it okay if I borrow the picture for inspiration?
Also, did you order the custom stamp from somewhere? I am from UK so would love to know whether there is a website which does them.
I think you have fabulous taste!!!
Thank you so much
Joanne
