Not sure exactly what time they open, but they will be open when the ship docks.

I agree with above poster. Been to Nassau twice and they were open when I was ready to go. I went AFTER we did the beach both times. The second time, I had children and chose to go by myself (my husband happily went to the ship with the kids-he cannot stand the market). It is VERY crowded and just about every vendor with try and get you to buy their wares-so be prepared. Lots of them sell the same things so check prices and barter!! They are used to it. I wouldn't take my kids into that chaos though if I were you

On our last 4 night, we arrived in Nassau a few minutes (maybe 20 - 30) earlier than usual, and they were just setting up as we docked.

I have found they are willing to barter more towards the end of the day.

I typically can get about 50% off from the "original" price. Especially if you buy multiple things.

One time we got off of the ship very early just as the market was opening. As we were walking through the aisles some vendors were still opening boxes to set up for the day. As the man opened one box.. a couple of HUGE cockroaches (or whatever you call them) flew out at me and my family. One landed right on my chest. I started dancing and screaming to get it off of me...lol. The vendors thought it was hysterical. I think it's funny now but at the time I was immediately ready to get back on the ship.
