A couple of notes:

1. We had just spent the week at Disney on a budget trip - staying off property so that mom (me!) could run the half marathon. It was a budget trip so that we could afford to do the cruise too!!

2. Our 9 yo reads the t-shirts we give them, only to think it doesn't apply to him!

3. Our 12 yo has the best reaction!! (He thanks ME instead of dad!!! He knows this was all me!!)

4. Listen for dd3 saying, "I don't know how to read!!"

5. Ds 13 has Asperger's. His reaction is less than impressive. It's part of Asperger's. But, he gave me a hug after the cameras were off. That is something he has NEVER done voluntarily!!!!!

Keeping the secret was HARD!!!!

Thanks for the congrats on the half!! It was the hardest thing I've ever done. And, I'm signed up for another one! Ack!!!! But, it's one of my proudest accomplishments!

Awww, that is so cute! I tried to surprise my kids once...I can't keep my mouth closed, lol....I was so excited about it!

Very cool!!! Your kids were so cute with their reactions! Love it. I tried to surprise my kiddos last year but like others have posted... just couldn't keep my mouth shut. I just wanted to talk about it all the time! :rotfl:

That is so cute!! I don't think I could keep such a secret, I want too but I just get so excited I can't contain myself. On a side note I noticed that you have 3 boys and then a girl!! I am so jealous.... I too have 3 boys (11,8,4) and I just found out I am expecting:scared1: I haven't told anybody yet I am dreading the "it is going to be another boy" comments. I know it will probably be a boy but it is nice to hold out hope at least for a little while! We were not planning to have any more but surprise... I have been having a hard time adjusting to the fact of having another one I guess I am still in shock. Sorry to hi jack your thread and dump on you I just knew you would understand. I would take any advice you have to offer!!! Thanks for listening.

Red head boys???? My oldest has red hair and has since he was a newborn!!!

Yes, I had three boys and then totally expected the fourth to be a boy. I was SOOOOOOOO excited to shop for pink!!!! I really thought I wanted a boy. I couldn't believe when I saw she was a girl (I had a homebirth and the midwives let me announce the sex).

The ages of your boys are right around the same ages when my little girl was born. My boys were SO excited to have a little baby (and a SISTER at that!!!). They were old enough that they could always get themselves a piece of toast and pb and jelly while I held the babe!! This is a GREAT time for you to have a baby!!!! I really think it brought some life into my boys. They will defend my dd to the end!!! And I think it'd be the same had she been a boy. What a blessing you have inside you!!!

That is so cute! I surprised my girls with a cruise in January and their reaction was shock:lmao: They actually sat there and stared at me, they later said they thought I was pulling their leg:rotfl: Gotta love kids! WTG Mom & Dad!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the kind words. I am starting to get a little excited we already have a cruise booked on the Dream for Feb and we are going to Disney before that and so we will get to take a 5 month old with us for the first time. SO I am keeping that as my focus for now. My boys all love babies so I know they will be excited when we tell them and I am thankful they are getting to that age that they can fend for themselves some so I think this time will be easier I am just in shock! It is hard for me to imagine that I am 2 months along and that our world will be changing so much in the next few months but boy or girl we will be ready. I too almost feel it would easier to have a boy we are already set up and everything here is BOY... But either way it will be a blessing. Thank you again for the kind words.
By the way all 3 of mine have red hair that too is a blessing!!

Great video!
We are surprising the kids with their first Disney cruise this summer after our WDW trip as well. I am trying to decide if I should come up with a clever way to tell them like you did, or just let them think we are driving to the airport and see how long it takes them to realize we are actually going to the port.
I love surprises!

Brilliant!! Yep you guys are the "parent's of the year" :cool1:
The little girl is precious! I hope you all had a fantastic time!!

I was thinking of surprising my sons but I was too excited! Congratulations for having the willpower to last a YEAR!! Wow!! :thumbsup2

We're doing the same thing in August. We are doing the med cruise out of Barcelona and my kids know that we are going to Barcelona, but they think that's it. They have not a clue, even though we've slipped many times....I can't wait to see their reactions when they see the ship.

We surprised our kids with their first Disney cruise 2 years ago at Christmas by doing a scavenger hunt (all inside the home). What fun it was! Like others have said, it was so hard to keep it a secret, but fortunately we only had to keep it quiet for about 2 months!:rotfl:
It was so much fun and I must admit I cried when I saw the excitement in their faces once they realized what their prize was!:lovestruc
OP, just wanted to say, that your comment about your 13yo was precious. We have friends that have children with autism and asbergers (sp) and somewhat understand how precious those unexpected moments of expressions of love can be!
Hope you all enjoyed your trip!
