Types of dessert for nut allergy?

We are sailing next week My DD has peanut/treenut allergies. I have faxed in my medical form, talked to somoone is special services who assures it's all good. We have sailed before but were unaware of how severe her allergy was then. I have coinfidence in them providing her with 'safe' foods.

I am hoping someone can prepare me for what is safe for desserts and any other tidbits of knowledge to make the trip great.

Also we are going to Chakanuba (spelling) National Park, any thoughts here?

There's always ice cream, pies, cakes, and Mickey Bars. Read the description carefully and also discuss it with your server. You will be amazed at how helpful they are! If there are any items that have nuts on top, you can always ask to get that item w/o the nuts.

My husband is allergic to peanuts and he's never had a problem. He's not a big dessert eater, so he always asks for a dish of vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce, even though it isn't on the menu, and they deliver every time!

Honestly, I have never seen peanuts, peanut butter at all on the ship. Not sure about other nuts. Just an observation.

Actually, there is peanut butter and nut products on the ship. Also, many people with nut allergies must be careful of things like peanut oil, which may not be obvious.

As to handling allergies--they are GREAT. On the Dream, there is even a separate kitchen for allergy issues.

ALL of your child's food will be prepared especially for her to avoid any cross contamination. The head server will meet with you on day one to confirm your needs. At the buffets, they will go thru the buffet with you to advise you on safety. I have a friend with a child with severe nut allergies--there is only one brand of chocolate chips she can use as the others are produced in factories that also do peanut products (worry of cross contamination). She asked if she could bring HER choc chips and they would make cookies for her child. They told her to fax them the information and THEY would buy an special products needed.

In some situations, they ask the guest to select a menu item the night before so that they can prepare it for the next night's dinner.

OH, the cookie dough ice cream on Castaway Cay is not peanut safe.

We sailed on the Wonder this summer and had an awesome time. Like your DD, I have a nut allergy and noted it on my medical form. Bruno our server was awesome. He was aware of my nut allergy and my DW's shell fish allergy before we even said anything on the first night. He made made sure that everything that was prepared for me was in a different prep area/surface of the kitchen and that all of my meals were "nut free" including our desserts. Disney does a great job and will take great care of you. Have a great trip!

We will be in your exact situation months from now and desserts were my main concern as well. DS and I would be very happy to know ahead of time what kinds of items he will and won't be able to have.
