Atlantis Beach VS Blue Lagoon

Hi everyone! We are going on the Wonder in April, and have no idea what to do in the Bahamas! Has anyone gone to the Atlantis Resort beach excursion? What is the beach like at the Atlantis? It is a lot of money, so just wondering if the beach is really beautiful etc? What about the Blue Lagoon? Not sure we want to take a boat over there. Any advice? By the way, we will have a 4 year old, and a 1 year old with us!

The beaches are beautiful. We spent a week there and loved it.

Blue lagoon is also beautiful :beach: The "boat" ride over is a large two level catamaran. The scenery is incredible and the Bahamas mansions and yachts are stunning along the water on the ride over. Blue Lagoon Island has lots of different excursions/experiences as well as beach area

We were at blue lagoon for the dolphin swim before they had the beach excursion and it was beautiful. If anyone has any pics of the Atlantis beach that would be great! We are also debating between these two excursions.

I would like to see pictures also if anyone could post some! For those who have taken the boat over to the Blue Lagoon etc, what was the boat ride like? Did you feel safe? I have heard stories of the boats getting overloaded!

OK, anyone know how we add pics to posts?

Is the Ocean any calmer over at Blue Lagoon? Or is there a beach anyone would recommend with kids? We took the kids to the Atlantic Beach a few years back and the water was extremely rough (I know it can vary by weather conditions). I'm hoping to do the whole Atlantis experience this time but if our party feels that would be too expensive, I'm looking into other options. For some, this is their first cruise and I'd like to do something other than just walk around (which is all we ever do in Nassau...if we even get off the ship).

Thanks...
Jess

A room or rooms at the Comfort Suites might help reduce costs.

That is our plan...but we need 3 rooms. That's still going to amount to over $800. In case that doesn't happen, I'm looking into a nice beach day but I'd prefer a clamer beach.

Thanks..
Jess

We did the dolphin swim at Blue Lagoon last March. It is beyond beautiful. From what I saw, a large part of their beach area is a secluded bay area, whch I would imagine would make for some calm waters for young children.
There are lots of pics on the website:

Okay...don't laugh....but how are the birds at Blue Lagoon? I thought I'd loose my mind with the pigeons at the Atlantis the last time. I am scared of birds. :confused3

Thanks.

Honestly I didn't notice birds at all.:confused3
The boat ride over was not scary at all. It was a double Decker catamaran. On the way there we took what I believe may have been a special charter because so many people were going to blue lagoon at the same time for different excursions. On the way back we had the blue lagoon catamaran it was the same only smaller. Both had a covered lower deck with bench seating and an open upper deck also with seating all around. It is a slow "trolling" speed. We took shore photos we were moving so slowly??

We booked a room at the Comfort Suites last March during our cruise so we could go to Atlantis. We didn't swim in the ocean (so I don't know how the water was), but I did manage to take a quick picture of it:

The water was gorgeous and I would have loved to swim in it if we had the time.

* I'd just like to note that the perspective in the picture is a bit off. If I remember correctly, the sand sloped down before hitting the water. In the picture it looks like the people are sitting right by/on the water, but they're not :rotfl:

We've been debating on the Blue Lagoon excursion, it looks just gorgeous there. Is there enough to do for a 4 and 6-year old boys if we don't do the full-out dolphin excursion? I think in particular our 6-year old might be a bit nervous about being close to dolphins so I am contemplating if it's really worth the time/money to go despite how beautiful the island looks (maybe we save it for another time when they're older or for just DH and I).

Hasn't anyone here gone on either the Atlantis Beach or Blue Lagoon excursion to offer their comparisions? We are going with 2 little ones, and are just trying to figurre out what is the better beach to go? Which is prettier, and safer?:confused3
