Has anyone done this?
Is QSDP Free + Upgrade to DDP a better deal than 40% room only discount?

We are booked at Poly for 6 nights .... :confused3

You would have to do the math on that. Keep in mind that if you are doing the free dining, you would have to pay full rack rate. For the Poly, it is probably better with the room discount. You can get free QSDP with the Poly?? I knew when they did free dining before it was QS for Values and DDP for Mods/Deluxes.

It depends on the number of people going and their ages. We have 5 going, but 2 are under 2, so we only have two adults and one child that could benefit from the free QSDP. A room only discount is much better for us.

Like others said it would just depend on the size of your party and the ages. For us staying at a MOD the dining was way better then the % off. If we were going Deluxe the % off would have saved us a bit more then the dining.
ETA I am really bored at work if you want to post your party size, ages and dates I will go look at the numbers.

What do you think about 7 nights at CSR 4/13-4/20?? Presently, have the room discount which brings it to $113.75/night plus tax. Also, myself and DH have tickets already. Does everyone have to be on the same plan for tickets? What about a 1 day ticket? Does it have to be length of stay. If it works, could you upgrade to table plan.

Thanks for any advice.:goodvibes:goodvibes

Everyone has to have at least 1 day tickets to get the dining plan. So you would need to buy one day tickets for you and DH. You can upgrade to the table plan or any plan you want you just pay the difference. It all depends on your party size for us staying at the MOD with 2 of our kids being considered adults the dining was the better option. We saved $400 somthing on the % off but over $900 on the dining. Which we were going to get anyway.

Thanks for the quick reply. We have never tried the dining plan, as we don't like making reservations and try to just take it as it comes. We hate to plan around a time--that's why this may be an option, but still not sure. Seems to get tricky if you have to pay full price for the room and get everyone a 1 day ticket at $84.14. Have to clarify the QS price/pp 4 adults.:goodvibes:goodvibes

Thanks for all the replies!

2 Adults 2 kids (8 and 9)

We are paying 4168 for the Poly 6 nights, Dining Plan, Hopper pass (no water park).

What do you think?

I came up with $4247 for 6 nights, 6 day park hoppers but I put the dates in mid June so if you are traveling before then it might change the cost. So it seems the % off room discount will save you more then the free dining. If you are traveling before the summer season though you might save a little more with the dining pin.

40% room discount at the Poly with a family of 4 is always a better discount than the free dining plan, even when it's the basic plan.

Thank you I was getting confused with all the numbers :goodvibes

We are traveling during April vacation week (15-22). I can't believe we are staying at the Poly ... we always stay at Pop! It's a special trip to celebrate my sons first communion he didn't want a party but to stay in a "monorail" resort at Disney  Great for me :rotfl:

It's pretty easy to make the comparison on which is a better deal. The QSDP costs $32 per adult and $10 per child so your "savings" for the "free DDP" = (# of adults x $32) + (# of kids under 10 x $10). Take that number and compare it to 40% off of the rack rate at the Poly.

So, mom2dina, your daily "savings" from the free QSDP is 2 x $32 + 2 x $10 = $84 per night. The rack rate for a garden view at the Poly in early summer is $425. 40% off is $168. It is a MUCH better deal to take the 40% off.

It's an even better deal than that, the OP is going during spring break and I think the Poly rate is over $500.00 per night during that time frame.
