Are the pirate rooms at CBR worth the extra money?

Hi Guys
Starting to plan our next trip and my DS is wanting to stay in a pirate room. I was wondering if these rooms are worth the extra money? Thanks for any input or advice!!!!

Totally! My girls (3,8) loved the room this past December and, frankly, so did I! Way worth it. We booked one again for our August trip. It is a little further to walk to Port Royale but we felt it was worth the walk. We did have a car also. When we got a pizza to share we drove the car so it would be hotter.

I just wanted to mention that I was also debating about the pirate room. I originally booked a standard, but changed it a month or so later to the pirate room. I decided that the $150 extra was worth it for our 7 night stay, plus this trip is a honeymoon for my husband and I, although we are bringing my son because it just wouldn't be the same without him, and I would feel bad leaving him at home while I go to WDW. From what I read, people who did not like the pirate room for the extra money were more concerned about saving money than having the pirate theme. Some also complained about the location of the pirate rooms, being the furthest from the main pool and dining areas. People who enjoyed the pirate theme were pirate fans or had kids who were, and did not mind the extra money for the rooms because the theme was more important to them. Just thought I'd share! And in 4 days I will be able to tell you how I like the pirate room versus a standard! Counting down the days...:wizard:

I can't wait to hear what you think! We are going in 9 days and the room is a suprise for the ki:dance3:ds!

Definately! They're awesome! They are in a great location too! Soo beatiful! The walk to Port royale is really a treat, and only takes a few minutes! I say go for it!

They're a little far, yes. But the bus stop is close (since there are lots of stops), and I'd say it wasn't more than a 10-12 min walk from the food court.

I LOVED the pirate rooms. DH and I stayed in one for our brief NYE's trip this year. The theming is just so much fun -- where else can you sleep in a pirate ship bed? The carpet looks like wood planks, a big barrel holds the fridge. It's really fun. I personally wish some more of the Disney rooms were this themed.

I think most kids would LOVE it -- and they wouldn't have to be super into PoC or the movies or Johnny Depp or anything like that to like the rooms. Do it - you'll love it!

-One more thing. I see some people think that not being suer-duper close to the main pool as a downfall, but when we swam, we stayed at the quiet pool by our rooms. It's not"quiet or silent", it's just not super crowded! We loved it. Each time we went it was us and a just a small handful of other families. It was so fun to swim and play pool games and not have to worry about tons of others getting in the way or trampling our DS6. Therer were lots of lounge chairs and "unmbrella covered" tables with chairs. That's where we had our breakfast each day. We had ceral/milk/fruit/pastries in our room that we brought down there with us, and after we'd finish eating, we'd head directly to our renatal car and to the parks.

I am very excited about it, I kinda wish now I wouldn't have already told my DS about it and I could have done it as a surprise, but oh well it will be fun....What area of CBR are the pirate rooms located?

We loved the Pirate rooms. The theme was great. But we wouldn't stay in them again. We were upgraded to a pirate room for free so not extra cost for us. But they were way too far away from the main pool and are the last stop on the bus route. We always experienced full buses. We will be going back to our favorite CSR next time. I'm sure you'll have a great time in the Pirate rooms, they just weren't for us.

The pirate rooms are in Trinidad South http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/cbrmap.htm

We haven't stayed in a pirate room yet, but we have walked from TS to OPR and it took us 7 minutes. So no big deal there!

We do plan to stay in a pirate room the next time we stay at CBR! pirate: From all the pictures I have seen I definitely think it is worth the extra money- at least once!

Thank you for posting the map, Ok, it doesnt look like its that far from the main pool, looks like a little walk from the check in, but that's no big deal for us, we love to walk, we were always far from the front desk area at CSR too and we love to walk around the resorts, so that will be fine!!!!!

You're welcome! :goodvibes

And don't worry, if you don't want to walk from the check in they will take you in a van if you have luggage with you, and if you don't have luggage with you then you can just hop on the internal shuttle.
