We are going back to WDW this summer after three years of Disneyland and all over California. It was amazing by the way.
We've always stayed at PO Riverside and have loved it. It suits us fine. This year though I have contemplated staying on the monorail. We've always wanted to do it but couldn't justify the money.
We are a family of five and here's the breadown:
Riverside - 8 days/7 nights without tickets is $1200
Poly - same is like $2600

Is it worth it to upgrade to a deluxe?

Well, for me it's not worth an extra $1400 to stay at the Poly. We stayed there 2 years ago and it was fine, but I wished I'd stayed at a moderate and saved a lot of money. There are some that LOVE the Poly and return year after year, but it just didn't do it for us. That's why I love all the different resort options Disney has - everyone has different tastes. Are you using either of the summer codes available until August 14? This make a big difference in price. :)

By summer codes do you mean the gift card offer or the % off room rates? Is there another?

What about doing a Mod for 5 or 6 days and then Poly for 2 or 3?
